okay analysis mode on *pushes up non-existent glasses*: firstly, the trial. We know that Strife (i forgot it’s name okay leave me alone) purposely takes advantage of people’s worst fears and uses it against them- so notice how one of the thing Strife says is that Phainon died? One of Mydei’s fears, out of all people, is Phainon dying.
and yet, even after that, Mydei STILL trust Phainon, and firmly believes that he’s still alive. He still fully trust in Phainon’s capability to survive. i mean that’s a level a trust you don’t find easily. and that cutscene too- like, that “found you”? helloo?? we’re right here??? get a room please???
also, note that Algaea’s plan to make Mydei obtain the core flame was by putting Phainon in danger, let that sink in. Algaea’s, the women who’s supposed to be the leader of the chryso heirs and is supposed to be rly smart (although she had made a bunch of pretty stupid moves 💀) plan to get Mydei to take the core flame was putting Phainon, out of all people, in danger…bit gay huh
Case 2: their last convo. i mean, Mydei chose out of all people, to have Phainon, accompany him on on the last part of his journey. Also, not him using his last conversation with Phainon not mainly for himself, but to comfort Phainon…
also that “in the next life come visit my library” He’s never shown offering anyone else that, nor even talking about anything relating to meeting in the next life. It’s only towards phainon he said shit like this like- omfg just kiss already
*pulls down glasses* anyway, for some other ones that i wanted to stand alone by themselves cause their specific scene didn’t have much other to put: Phainon bringing up Mydei is almost every other conversation after he left, Mydei telling Phainon and Phainon only about his weak spot, that sauna battle which i have avoided out of fear of comment sections, and some other stuff i probably forgot
