New York City
~~ A Tourist's Foodie Review ~~~~~~~~~~
First time in NYC. New Year's Eve in the city, a city of hungry people. Rated on a 10 point scale. Let's get this farty sharted!!!

Restaurants:
Le Bernardin
Katz Delicatessen
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Le Bernardin 9.5/10
★★★ Michelin Stars
My first and only Michelin Star Restaurant experience + a thought. Every plate was meticulous, everything at Le Bernardin is intentional. Special shoutout to DK <3.
Chef's Tasting Menu
There was attention to each ingredient's flavor profile, texture and cooking method, then thoughtfully meshed into one perfect bite. As a first timer tourist it was impossible not to notice the aura of a restaurant of this caliber, truly unlike any other dining experience I've had. Sustenance in it's most elevated form. This was really remarkable; in terms of food (cont. below images.)
Points lost but also gained (?) for service. I was impressed by everything, the decor, notoriety, and just overall caliber of this restaurant. Le Bernardin operates at maximum efficiency, the staff are swift, attentive, and well seasoned. After each course the used utensils are swapped for new ones. To me that is white glove service, to others it is the standard. I must've been ooh and ahh-ing, because the waiter asked if I liked the swap out. I started feeling overtly out of my league, unsure if I belonged; in a way that only New York City can make you feel. Kind of cool.
2. Katz Delicatessen 8.9/10
Now this is a New York City ICON, and personally I think it delivered. The wait to get into to Katz is as infamous as their pastrami is famous, there was a huge queue of people being shuffled in by bouncer esque doormen. Despite being such a long line, the wait was surprisingly short, it seems they really try to expedite the experience. Same goes for the Meat Cutters, you should know exactly what you'd like the second you step up to their booth. Though its generally an easy choice, pastrami on rye or 1/2lb of pastrami a la carte. Realistically you should view the menu online beforehand if you're going to order something else, idling at the counter would be a big faux pas. (cont. below images.)
The brisket is paired with a yellow mustard that I really enjoyed, it cut through the fattiness perfectly; while delicious and succulent it can quickly become overpowering. Rye bread isn't typically my style however I couldn't bring myself to stray from the tried and true legend. The half sour pickles were good but nothing extraordinary to note. Next time I think I will opt for the pastrami on its own, the bread and cheese sandwich aspect didn't do much for me. Focus on the good stuff, skip the filler.
Haus of Gloi Perfume
~Review~~~
First time trying out Haus of Gloi, they have a build you own perfume that really intrigued me! They offer tons of scent note options, categorized by top notes, middle notes and base notes. You have 4 choices for each perfume. I could not be happier, I wrote an extremely detailed description (much more than what I wrote below) and Haus of Gloi saw the vision. They are balanced, one of a kind, and genuinely attractive scents.
#1. Apple + Gardenia + Sweet Cream + Black Pepper
Fall. Warmth of a Fireplace. Last Harvest. Crisp Apple, (not apple crisp).
8.9/10
#2. Cucumber + Lily of the Valley + Eucalyptus + Sweet Cream
Summer Evening. Post-Beach Pre-Dinner Shower. Your Best Friend From When You Were 17. Soothing Gel on a Sunburn.
10/10
My Advice: Go in with an idea before looking through the note list. Ex. tropical, woodsy musk, flower garden, creamy sweets. Pick one note matching it and experiment from there!
FYI: because it is a perfume oil, it doesn't come as a spray. It comes in a small glass vial, no rollerball or dropper so I highly recommend transferring to a refillable atomizer for convenience and even dispersion of scent.
5ml perfume oil = $25 (USD)
~Review~~~
It's so beautiful in here; a ton of natural light and the decor is veryyyy chic. The pastry case looks sooo full of goodies but honestly I found the actual items largely unappealing... a lot of very basic, very dry looking sweet treats. The playlist in here was BANGINGGGG, so hip. However it was playing so loud in there that it made customers talk superrrr loud to be able to hear each other, meaning I also heard them. (No complaints I loveee a little people watching/easedropping.) Also it wasn't hard because there are 3 tables in there, which are 6-7 inches apart at most.
I ended up getting the spinach danish and mushroom danish both warmed. Neither were actually warm when I got them tho, they toasted the top, but the inside/bottom/fillings were still stone cold. So cold that I wondered how it was possible when they were sitting out at room temp?? Weird. Idk.
The latte was soooo good, so silky and not bitter. Small iced comes with 2 shots.
