Donât be too quick to interpret the moment. Just keep quiet. My encouragement would always be: never think anything is against you, everything is blessing. Why should it be different? Just be quiet. Let it all work itself out.

in case you needed more proof that neurotypical mental health professionals are dangerous to the people theyâre treating: a study proves that clinicians are prejudiced towards certain diagnoses and more likely to not treat the patients as well as those who havenât been diagnosed with them.
the study showed a control group a video of a person having an anxiety attack and told only one part of the group that said patient was diagnosed with bpd (which was a lie, the woman in question was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder). they then asked the entire group to evaluate the patient based only on the video.
just the label borderline personality disorder being attributed to someone (in this case a person who didnât even actually have it nor shown symptoms of it), caused mental health professionals to be incredibly pessimistic about the success of the patientâs treatment and they were more likely to write her off.
the expectations for the success of the treatment on both the patientâs and the doctorâs side are proven to hugely influence how successful the treatment actually is, so doctors are basically failing patients with personality disorders before the treatment even starts. and this doesnât even touch on the amount of bullshit that often goes on during the treatment.
the idea of people having to be âusefulâ is just so gross, like people do not exist to be used
having to produce something and have a use is a capitalist ideal and not an intrinsic part of humanity
just by being alive you are human and you are worth something and you can never be useless
this applies to animals as well
âHaving to like DO THINGS is SO OPPRESSIVE. No one had to like DO THINGS before evil capitalism. In ancient times food, water, and shelter just existed and everything was taken care of for meâ
Guess what happened to people who didnât do things before capitalism? They died. Cause if you werenât hunting, gathering, or useful in some aspect of nature. You were killed, died or starvation, dehydration, or exposure.Â
Being useful is literally part of our biology. Fucking moron. You pull some idea out of your ass because you literally donât want to get off your ass.Â
Iâm not saying nobody should ever do things ever, Iâm saying people don;t have to produce to an arbitrary standard in order to prove their right to live
And if you really think disabled people deserve to die if we canât âcontributeâ or be useful in a way you approve of then congrats youre a fucking monster
actually thereâs significant evidence in terms of Neolithic burials that disabled people who would not have been able to hunt for themselves (the archaeological evidence mostly shows mobility disabilities because itâs visible in the bone record) were well fed and cared for by their communities
so the âpeople like you would have been left to dieâ argument isnât just cruel and violently ableist, itâs extremely historically inaccurate and based off of projecting modern prejudice on prehistoric cultures
sources because Iâm on my laptop now!
note: in the neolithic era, a person in their 40s or 50s would be considered elderly
12,000-year-old burial of a woman about 45 with mobility disabilities both congenital and acquired
burial of a 40-50 year old Neanderthal man who had survived to old age with a deformed right arm and a long-healed head injury that would have made him blind in one eye
neolithic burial of a man in his 50s who lost the use of his left arm in adolescence
neolithic burial of a man in his 40s with evidence of a significant mobility disability caused by an injured hip and leg, some time in adulthood but long before his death
neolithic Asian burial of a man in his 20s with a congenital disorder which would have made him a quadriplegic around age 14. He survived for 10-15 years after that.
5th century burial of child with Down Syndrome
Our society continually propagates the myth that our ancestorsâ lives were miserable, but the truth is human beings figured out how to live cooperatively and humanely a long time ago. Really the agricultural revolution fucked everything up.
I particularly like how bloodblond89 takes opâs original point of âpeople have worth, specifically worth that canât be valued in a cost benefit cash analysisâ and turns it into âso I guess you just want everything for free!â
This is what capitalism has done to us as a society. If it canât be seen on a balance sheet, if nobody has given an exchange of cash for it, then it must not have value. It does not matter that somebody loves you, all that determines your worth is that you bring a positive cash flow into your group, whether thatâs your family, town, or country.
Whatâs fucking terrifying is that they are a psych major.
Like literally I see this sort of behaviour and mentality from every psych major I see on this website and people still want to fucking argue about the medical abuse neurodivergent and disabled people experience at the hands of ânormalâ people seeing us a niche interest to profit from

Itâs funny the things you think will last forever when youâre young. I figured Iâd work until I died. But even work stops at some point. And you find yourself looking around, taking stock of your life, and you realize that you donât give a shit about where you worked, or what you did to bring in money, but you care about the lives you touched. The love you shared. The family you created. You care about who is standing beside you when the shit hits the fan.

âi didnât mean toâ isnât an apology
âthatâs not how i meant thatâ isnât an apology
âyouâre the only one who got offendedâ isnât an apology
doing something by accident doesnât mean it isnât hurtful or that you donât need to apologize, it also doesnât mean you get to ramble on for an hour about how you never meant to hurt someone or that you really REALLY didnât mean that, because none of those are acceptable apologiesÂ
âiâm sorryâ is an apology. âiâm sorry i hurt youâ is an apology
and no one is required to accept your apology, or guarantee you that things will go back to the way they were

Look, I donât want to wax philosophic, but I will say that if youâre alive youâve got to flap your arms and legs, youâve got to jump around a lot, for life is the very opposite of death, and therefore you must at very least think noisy and colorfully, or youâre not alive.
