In case, like me, you were wondering why the Greek alphabet has two Os (omicron and omega), I found the answer:

The ancient Greeks had a letter O but at a certain point they decided they wanted to differentiate between the different vowel sounds of the O, so they made an o-MEGA for the “larger” o sound and an o-MICRON for the “smaller” o sound.
