Car Trunk vs Car Boot: A clear win for US English, trunk was already a thing in which you stored items, frequently for transport.

Crisps vs Chips: I gotta admit, the Brits have this one. They're thin slices of potato that have been made crispy. No chipping of any materials involved.

Car Park vs Parking Lot: Equally matched. What's a car park? A place to park cars. What's a parking lot? An otherwise empty lot where you can park.

Elevator vs Lift: Both equally fail to address that the damn thing also goes down.

Everything about my life is stressful right now

#A. I'm in finals week of my last year of uni #B. i am being kicked out of student accomodation at the beginning of June #3. I can't apply for a visa to remain in the country until after I get my grades back. at the end of June.#3a. I have to apply for the visa while in the UK and I cannot leave until I get my results #therefore #I need to find somewhere to live before I know for certain I can stay in the country #additionally #I have been in a relationship since August but we've been long distance since September #so I want to move to his city #but not move in with him because a. the relationship still feels new #and b. due to unforseen circumstances he had to find a new place just a couple months ago and I wouldn't ask him to move again so quickly #( he has 4 flatmates in his new place. it's rough out there )#so I've put my notice in my job. cause I want to leave on good terms and they require a months notice #but I have yet to find a new job in the new city because it is in fact 4 hours away on the bus #which oh also I don't have a car so I will most likely have to move. on the bus. like probably 4 trips 4 hours each way #so anyway the whole Im leaving my current job I don't have anything lined up and I don't know for sure if I can even stay in the country #looks really good when applying for flats #I found one and started the process but I think they might reject me #because guess what #I had to pay my student accomodation fees in advance for the year #so my bank statements don't show monthly rent payments #so I really hope I get the chance to explain that #God it's just anxiety central out here I'm nauseous and shaky and I can't get anything done #and I know I sound insane to everyone around me. like they ask my plan and I tell them and they go. ok....#which I am usually the logical voice of reason #but nooo guess what I had to fall in love with a guy that went to uni to play the trumpet and now works as a barista #(and I still haven't met his family. he didn't invite me over for Christmas despite me being utterly alone)#which if a friend told me that I'd immediately tell her to dump his ass #so now I have a bit more sympathy cause God it's worth it #at least it fucking better be
