my first mistake in life was being 9 when Kill la Kill dropped. now i’m 21 and insufferably late to the party and it makes me sad. i was literally made to be a part of the 2014 fandom movement. the worst part is, when i watched KLK for the first time at age 15, my child brain only retained the surface of the show and all the rich storytelling bounced off. now in my 20s, i’m a hopeless rewatcher because i don’t think another anime will ever check all the boxes for me the way Kill la Kill did. seriously, i’ve seen over 100 titles and counting. my heart hurts.
