Do I get enough protein?
Hey yâall, I know I have not posted in  awhile, but today I want to talk about something that just came in again this morning (something I saw on Pinterest) and itâs really bugging me. I realize the whole human race is constantly super terrified that they are lacking in protein. And I also feel that people who eat the Standard American Diet, basically a diet fat, sugar, and salt filled... feel almost as if their culture and beliefs and everything they ever knew to be true in this world are âthreatenedâ whenever someone tells them âIâm vegan,â or âvegetarianâ or âplant- based veganâ or whatever the case. I can tell you without a doubt in my mind, that I personally as a plant-based vegan have NO worries that I am getting enough protein in my diet. And if you yourself are eating multi-grain pasta, rice, whole wheat bread, etc and all your dark colored vegetables (orange carrots, dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, etc) you are getting ample amount of protein in your diet and are NOT lacking anything vitamin- wise either. So many times though Iâve witnessed family and friends alike of mine when I tell them Iâm a plant based vegan theyâve said to me âwell thatâs not right, you were meant to eat fat, and protein from MEAT, and MEAT and DAIRY ONLYâ they somehow have selective hearing to the part where I keep saying âIâm NOT missing anything food-wise, and nor are my taste buds lacking the taste of meat, cheese, etc. Iâve literally have family and friends be like âthatâs fine, have your healthy vegan shtuff, Iâll just be over here having a bowl of full fat ice- cream and 5 cookies, and a Big Mac from Mickey Dâs. It just really irks me because the only one youâre hurting is yourself. My usual response is âhave your full fat ice cream... But, have fun dying prematurely!â I just find it hilarious how âdefensiveâ and âthreatenedâ people are when youâve gone and made a âradicalâ lifestyle change. Thatâs fine, but , I donât personally think changing your food habits. In North America Heart Disease, and Diabetes are 2 of the leading  causes of death, Iâm not sure how food ranks up there as being âradical.â The only thing I find âradicalâ is someone cutting my chest open from  neck to navel trying to remove the coagulated fat and crud which is clogging my veins, and making them non-functional, then proceeding to sew me back up again and letting me go home saying Iâm âcured,â and myself thinking I am. Meanwhile, I could have PREVENTED this turn of events. IF you personally feel somehow âthreatenedâ or taken aback by my lifestyle choices , and what I eat go ahead, you can think Iâm nuts, but Iâm lookinâ at you thinkinâ âIts your funeral, not mine...eat whatever you want... You want to âsupersizeâ that casket too, you go for it!â The only reason I thought of this is this morning I saw yet ANOTHER post on Pinterest titled âAre you getting enough protein??â Well YES I am. And for the diabetics out there even in my own family who keep saying âyour living off of starch, all you eat is starch, how could I ever lose weight and lower my blood sugar by  eating what you do?â Well #1. Spare me your bullsh*t. #2. You CAN eat starch and lower your blood sugar-  because as long as you are consuming only WHOLE WHEAT starch (rice, bread, pasta) its a complex carbohydrate and will NOT spike your glucose levels, it will however be processed more gradually  by the body, and will keep your blood sugar from spiking or raising at all. #3. IF you are eating a FAT FREE diet, you would NOT be gaining weight. Remember, âthe fat you eat is the fat you wear.â #4. If you are messaging me with requests for recipes but you plan on doing this change rapidly, and half-as*ed ... Forget it.Â
Lastly, IF you are serious about making this change, please feel free to send me a message, and I will help you with recipes, and even teach you how to cook them properly, give you resources etc. But the fact that yâall are soo derrn scared that youâre NOT getting enough protein, or could NEVER get enough protein on a plant based diet, and this is the sole reason why you stick to animal fat, and juicy steaks for your insecure thoughts about being a plant based vegan... Youâre insane, and I wish you the best of luck, but like I said... Itâs YOUR funeral, NOT mine. Have at er!Â
