Had Martin survived the ordeal and Chancellor Ocato not been a baby back bitch, maybe things would have been different. Buy they aren’t. We got the Mede Dynasty: disgusting degenerates that they are.
Ulfric brought the Dunmer to live in the city and the Nords who lived there were polarized about it. He kept the Argonians separate from the Dunmer because he knew they had racial tensions, just like it would turn out his own people would with both races.
Argonians are wierd, and that’s what makes them cool. I mean their culture is based “loosely” off of North and South American Natives. It’s fucking awesome. And the Dunmer and Argonians DON’T GET ALONG. So yeahm separating them was a wise decision. It was gonna be one of them outside the walls, and the Argonians like water and swimming, so Windhelm Docks it is. Boo hoo.
Rolff is a bad egg. Agrenor Once-Honored is a bad egg. Edla Early-Dawn is a bad egg. Rolff and Agrenor are soldiers who fought the Elves in the Great War. They now hate the Legion and Elves enmasse because they’re soldiers who saw horrible things done by people they knew only as enemies. They saw folks they knew to be allies and likely as a pillar of hope and strength - kowtow to these enemies.
Goddammit, I’ve given 4 years to the Marine Corps in my Country. And I will tell you: this is exactly how a minority (or majority) of Infantry Marines and Soldiers and Sailors think. This situation would piss off any rational person and cause them to think less, and less rationally about said enemies... and “allies”. Honestly this is a pretty well written pair of characters.
Rolff got angry; so did his brother. Agrenor just got sad.
All we have on Edla is one line of hearsay from another NPC.
Solaf and Bolund in Falkreath were angry youths fed hate-fuel by angry veterans of the Great War. It’s how many high school graduates get sucked into the military. Its a brainwashing of sorts. It happens. Not so much these days... But it happens.
Last thing I’ll say, is that Ulfric is commanding his men in operations of war while at the same time trying to run a city. He’s not going to have time to address every moan, groan, question, or concern. His country is torn in half. He has warmongers in his ear (love you, Galmar), and the issues in Windhelm have literally been pushed to the back burner. He’s a great leader of men, and at his heart: a military man. The war has consumed his focus. It’s just the way it is.
I haven’t been on here in what feels like years, and this shit is still tiring. You can still beat up Rolff.... Like they wrote your “punch a racist” fantasy into the game.
Can’t wait until the same shit rears its ugly head in TES VI. It’s gonna be great.
