yknow when you can tell that someones opinion on the homeless is dictacted by the fact they seem to imagine every homeless person just like. spawned in the back alleys of a city as a fully grown scruffy hobo with no life goals other than scrounging enough pocket change for a hit of Drugsâ„¢ . like you suggest that perhaps a homeless person was not always homeless and probably had a life and a childhood like the rest of us and they blank like they genuinely didnt consider it. like they forgot thats a human being too.
I'm a married, self employed adult in their fifties with a house, child and very spoilt cat, and I've been homeless. It wasn't because of drugs, or alcohol, or anything i did. I know people who were homeless because working full time still wasn't enough to pay rent, or a rental agreement fell through at the last second because a housemate missed the deadline to sign the agreement or pay their share of the deposit or the landlord just decided to rent to someone else. I've known people made homeless by a mental health crisis, by unemployment, by insurance companies dragging their feet, by illness and by bad fucking luck, and most of us are just a few unlucky moments away from experiencing it first hand
