“Hey, this is Sex Bomb. You guys copy?”
“I’m in the bathroom getting ready. But before I forget, I’m thinking we should settle on codenames, as I’ve just stated mine. If I were to suggest some, I think I’d say… Titus, you can be Blondie. And Shally, how abouuuut… Wallcrawler? Pretty nifty, if I do say so myself. But if you guys have better ideas, then by all means.
“First thing’s first – if you run into trouble, send the squad a message through these. They’re as industrial-grade as they come, so they won’t run outta batteries the whole night, and we should be able to contact each other from anywhere on the premises. But let’s doublecheck we can hear each other, first…
“Did you get all that Blondie, Wallcrawler?”
@thiefguild → @shalishadow
blondie? well– it was a hell of a lot better than what some people back home called him, so he couldn’t complain. had a certain ring to it, he guessed. the walkie-talkie (what an original name!) had taken getting used to, but he was a fast learner, so he now handled it with ease, listening to Leo on the other end– sex bomb.
“I hear ya. I’m in one of the corners right now, just scopin’ out the place. Got a date I gotta hang out with during this too, but it’ll be fine.” not that he was known for being a great multitasker, but– “That go through okay? Still getting used to this thing.”
@shalishadow
“Blondie? Wall crawler? Really sex bomb? This shit is getting redi-” A random attractive person caught his attention as they walked by, making him blush and stutter. “Sorry what was I saying? Oh yeah, no, why wall crawler? You’re aware I’m as human as you tonight right? No, shadow or creeping around and shit.”
The ball was destined to end in disaster as Shalis couldn’t bring himself to focus at all. “I can hear ya’ll just fine. Try not to take too much time dolling up in there Le-” He sighed, “Sex bomb.”
@coleosseum
“Confused? About what?” He noted the name, vowing to not forget it. Things were really starting to come together without Shalis knowing, and the dark skinned man looked almost at ease.
“I’m a little confused myself. How does a man like you have no date?” It was an honest question, unless, “Don’t tell me you just got here?” An eyebrow lifted at the man. What great timing, right before the ball. The thought of dancing crossed his mind but he quickly pushed it away, knowing his face would heat up. It was odd, all these influxes of emotions he really hoped he was just feeling sick.
Kirk blushed a bit and rubbed the back of his neck, nodding. He guessed he wasn’t as cool and mysterious as he thought he was. Oh well. He had a lot of time to get better at it.
“Yeah. I got here a few days ago.”
“I don’t know anyone well enough to ask them out to such a fancy event like this.”
Fixing his dress suit, Kirk looked over to the dancefloor again. He didn’t know why he has such an urge to dance all of a sudden. He would do his best to try to keep the feeling hidden.
“Damn, you’re really new here.” He read the others body language and his eyes followed to where Kirk looked. “Let me guess, you want to dance....” The tone was reluctant in an amusing way as he eyed the dance floor wearily. Couples dancing so close to each other, at that proximity nearly anything could happen especially of the romantic kind. Which was not my deal damnit, Shalis sighed inwardly.
Then a thoughtful look graced his features he couldn’t possibly deny such a handsome man a dance, it’d be a true waste of time to talk and not act. “I mean, are you... familiar with dancing?”
Shalis chuckled and blushed slightly, sitting next to Frey like a shy school girl. “I’m fine, nothing’s happened really.” He chimed, leaning back in his chair, “And you don’t have to worry about that shit with me. I’m not up tight. I didn’t take you as the type to dance though Darian.”
Since he put the corsage on he’s like a changed man and it was beginning to show as the night trailed on.
“Fine, if you say so…” Frey certainly notices a change about the other. But he isn’t one to bother others if they tell him they’re fine. Whatever, it really isn’t my problem…
“Nah. I just always wanted to step on someone’s toes~”
“Anyway, did you get the bottle?”
“You must be popular with the ladies.” He rolled his eyes with a chuckle. “I did actually....” His face burned, “You really didn’t have to do that shit, man now I owe you.” It was a well received gift but Shalis couldn’t think of it as just a gift without strings attached. Dark eyes scanned Frey from head to toe, “And you actually don’t look like a wreck tonight by the way.” A playful grin splayed across his face.
shalishadow:
“What… A dance?” He pulled a small frown, looking fairly uncertain especially around the other.
Embarrassment tickled his heart and he put a hand over it to calm the flutter. “Nah, dancing wouldn’t be a good idea…” It’s not that he didn’t want to dance with Leo, he very much did. It’s just all the weird jolts of emotions popping up more and more through out the night. Dancing, having bodies flushed against one another didn’t seem like the best under these weird circumstances. “’Sides I don’t know how…” He lied.
“You don’t know how?” Leo laughed, slapping a hand on Shalis’ shoulder. “Dude, that’s fine. I don’t know how to do most dances either, but it’s not hard to move yourself with the beat.”
“Pretty sure I can help you out. Unless you’re too much of a weenie to get out there.”
“A weenie?” He leaned back and raised his eyebrow, “I’ve been called worse.” His eyes went half lidded in unamusement. Shalis knows it’d turn out badly if he so much as touched Leo with his own two hands. The others hand on his shoulder was meant to be friendly, but the touch seemed to burn passed his tux and warm his shoulder.
“Why a dance with me of all people. You know me.”

Happy New Year everyone! Now, the new year is upon us, but the ball still lasts till the the 3rd at midnight. However, there is a possibility that I could get an extension for the ball for a whole week if the mods allow it. So, consider this a check. Like this if you would like the Ball to be extended for another week!
Send “What about” and a person and my muse will say their honest feelings/thoughts about them.
No matter what they may be, my muse will spill all.
Shalis art to start out 2016 and as it turns out my art style has taken a turn for the abstract and eye strain. This’ll be fun, and always remember that your never truly alone, Shalis surely never forgets.
It is a wide known tradition that during the celebration of the new year, fireworks would burst into the sky. It was something that seemed to transcend into many cultures, planets, and even dimensions. Time would creep upon the dancers and ball goers, and eventually midnight was upon them. People began to slow their dancing, and everyone was beginning to wonder just where would the fireworks take place?
Slowly, a small galaxy begins to swirl with rapid speed, and glow brighter with white light as it makes it’s way to the center of the ceiling. Someone in the audience begins to chant as the swelling universe grows, reaching out to all corners of the ball room. The countdown starts at five, and by three the universe grows and smothers the light of the other galaxies.
The countdown reaches midnight, and there is a second of hesitation before the galaxy explodes into rich color. Every star, planet and constellation gets it’s turn and shoots off into a spectacular display of fireworks. It happens in rapid succession, and by the end of the show there is a simply message written in the last remaining stars that twinkle with pride.
Happy New Year!
Shalis just rolled his eyes, “Nice try, but I’d be caught dead dancing with anyone.” He put his hands in his pockets. Ever since he’s gotten his corsage he doesn’t trust himself to remain in control of his feelings or actions.
“Surprisingly the ball is a breath of fresh air I guess, but I am feeling a little weird.” And it was true, Shalis felt reborn and whole. Without his shadow to accompany him or with hold his positive things were starting to change about himself. The smile he offered Frey was genuine.
Frey raises a brow. “Really? Afraid I’d step on your toes~? Well, thinking about it, that might be justified.”
He’s pointing casually to the free seat next to him. “Eh… the ball is nice for watching the girls and eating free food. But, if you where to ask me, I’ve never been too fond of such events. Etiquette isn’t really my thing, but that’s probably not a hard guess. They barely let me in here in first place. … I still don’t really know why I bothered with this.“
“But hey, what’s the matter about you? Something happened?”

Out of the corner of his eye, Frey notices someone coming closer. Someone he’s knowing, at that, after a second glance. But he doesn’t get up from his seat. The captain just proceeds to greet Shalis with a grin.
“If you came to ask me for a dance, I’ll be the one taking the lead.”
Shalis just rolled his eyes, “Nice try, but I’d be caught dead dancing with anyone.” He put his hands in his pockets. Ever since he’s gotten his corsage he doesn’t trust himself to remain in control of his feelings or actions.

As the night dragged on Shalis found himself losing the reigns on his emotions. Looking shyly around the large room he saw quite a looker, in his opinion, standing a bit away from him. The thought never occurred to be cautious or wary around the gorgeous man with pouty lips. For tonight, he was a normal - well as one could get.
“Hey,” Shalis grinned playfully, showing his pearly whites. “You look a bit bored, blue eyes.” The nickname was dubbed instantly. “’Name’s Shalis.” He stuck his hand out casually, and for the first time didn’t feel gross or uptight about being formal.
Jim blinked and glanced over at the other. This was the first time someone had actually confronted him in this strange world. The captain couldn’t help but to smile at the nickname and took the other’s hand in a firm handshake.
“Not so much bored as I am very confused. The name is James Kirk, but you can call me Jim. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Shalis.”
The other seemed nice enough. He supposed that if he could keep a conversation going for long enough, he might even be able to ask the other for a dance. He had been longing to go on the dancefloor since he had arrived..
"Confused? About what?" He noted the name, vowing to not forget it. Things were really starting to come together without Shalis knowing, and the dark skinned man looked almost at ease.

The ball had many attendees, making Shalis nervous. That is, until he spotted someone familiar. “Leo? You actually coming to dance, or cause another heist?” He gave an amused grin. The traditional suit he wore was made casual with a few undone buttons, no tie, and undone jacket. Purposefully, he stayed away from the dance floor despite knowing how to dance. Maybe not in the traditional way, but still, the scene wasn’t really his.
“Relax, dude.” Leo laughed, nudging Shalis’ elbow when he sauntered over. “I still haven’t checked to see if the silverware is real silver or not, yet. I’ll let you know if it’s worth stealing, mmkay? The buffet, though – shit’s good. I’m so glad we had this idea.”
“But that aside,” he grinned, “did you wanna go a song or two on the floor? No need to be shy. We’ve got the whole night to make off with the goods.” He patted his bag. “We might as well take our time and enjoy ourselves.”
“What..... A dance?” He pulled a small frown, looking fairly uncertain especially around the other.
Embarrassment tickled his heart and he put a hand over it to calm the flutter. “Nah, dancing wouldn’t be a good idea...” It’s not that he didn’t want to dance with Leo, he very much did. Oh, this was bad, the man was quite cute. It wasn’t his way to shake hands or be formal at all for that matter. Instead he bumped his shoulder lightly, “Yeah, you too, and I don’t do formal, Kurt. I’m Shalis, not sir. How old do I look?” He chuckled.
Shalis tried to memorize all the new information as he had a habit of forgetting names right after he was introduced, “Germany, circus, and real tail. All noted. Why Nightcrawler? Are you some sort of demon?” It was an honest and fair question, he had meant no offense but he was always monotone, so it would be hard to define. Looking behind him at the tail he wondered if it was like any other tail, and he still had the urge to reach out to touch it. It took all his inner strength to not cause trouble for once.
Though he didn’t get the handshake he expected, the gentle shoulder bump was quite comforting. It was nice to know that this man, Shalis, was comfortable enough to make physical contact. Many people were afraid of Kurt, even some other mutants. “Is… zat a trick question?” Shalis didn’t look very old, but he didn’t exactly look young, either. “Perhaps… twenty-something? I didn’t mean to offend you, I vas simply raised to be respectful and polite to everyone I meet, no matter how old zey look.”
He would’ve been happy to explain where his favourite stage name came from, except… there it was. Demon. Most everyone thought it when they saw him, though few vocalized the word since he joined the X-Men. It was very easily the harshest thing he could be called, though Kurt couldn’t blame Shalis. It wasn’t as if his new friend was aware of his experiences. The mutant was only glad that visual focus had shifted to his tail. At least that way his companion might not have noticed the pathetic smile he wore. “I believe ze ringmaster called me zat because I vas an incredible acrobat, and because of my fur, I blend in vell vith ze dark. I’m no demon, just a mutant. Though I can certainly see vhy you might think otherwise.” If Shalis had touched his tail after all, Kurt probably wouldn’t even have noticed. He was too busy thinking about the past.
“It’s alright Kurt, I’m not human! You think I was born with these colors?” He cheerily grinned. It was comforting he had some one to relate to, he didn’t mind a thing about him. “Demons exist where I come from so, I didn’t mean to throw you back.” The smile Kurt wore was noticed but he didn’t comment on it. Even he wasn’t that cruel.
“So, mutant... What exactly do you mean?” Now curiosity got the best of him, was he born or turned into a mutant? Of course asking outright would be asking too much. The rain was fitting for the gloomy topic, but the guy looked like he needed to get something off his shoulders.
