Birthday celebration // Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins (Genshin Impact) x reader
It was yet another busy day in Nasha Town. People were moving about carrying out their daily activities, from purchasing groceries to eating. Shopkeepers were advertising their wares or chatting with their customers. Admist the hustle and bustle, you navigated your way through the crowd with a purpose in mind -- to find a birthday gift for Flins. You browsed through various shops but none of their items clicked with you. That was, until you came across a brooch in an antique shop. It was silver with a gorgeous oval deep purple gem. Your eyes lit up. This would look great on Flins and complement his outfil well. More importantly, you knew that he would love it being an avid collector of old jewellery. You checked the price and were pleased to know that it was within your budget.
"I'll have this," you told the female shopkeeper. "And could you wrap this up, please? Thank you."
"Of course. A gift for someone?" she smiled, giving you a knowing look. Smiling bashfully, you nodded and agreed. You paid for the brooch before making your way back with a spring in your steps.
"Happy birthday," you cheered. You wrapped your arms around Flin's waist, planting a kiss on his forehead. A small, warm smile spread across his face.
"Thank you, dear," he replied, connecting his lips with yours. You gently broke away from the kiss.
"Here. This is for you," you beamed, handing him his gift.
"You didn't have to," Flins smiled, accepting the present. "Besides, hadn't I already receive a present from you?" There was a hint of mischief in his tone and expression.
"Oh? Have you?" you quipped, your expression mirroring his. Flins chuckled. He captured your lips once more.
"There. Does that jog your memory?" he smirked.
"Yeah," you giggled. "Anyway, open it." You looked at him eagerly. Your lover laughed warmly. He gingerly tore the wrapping off and opened the box to reveal the brooch inside.
"Do you like it?" you asked, your hear thumping in anticipation. Flins' expression shifted into a gentle one as he smiled at you.
"I do. Thank you," he answered, admiring the brooch. You offered to help him put the brooch on to which he agreed. You clipped the brooch on the right collar of his coat, being careful not to accidentally poke him.
"There. All done," you grinned.
A familiar-looking dog trotted towards the two of you, a bone in its mouth. Your smile widened. You crouched down to pat the dog which wagged its tail happily.
"Look. Our friend here has brought you a gift," you laughed. Flins laughed as well.
"I don't think it knows that it's my birthday today, my love," he replied. He took the bone from the dog. "With that said, that is one lovely way to look at it." He gently pat the dog, thanking it. He went to add the bone to his ever growing bone puzzle while you rewarded the dog with treats. You played with the dog. Meanwhile, Flins watched you with a warm smile on his face. He adored the way your eyes light up and that your broad smile could brighten up the otherwise gloomy cemetery. Not that he disliked the peace and quiet the cemetery provided, of course. It was just nice to have a little light in this dark place sometimes.
After the adorable distraction, you stood up and extended your hand.
"Come on. Let's go before it gets too dark," you grinned. The Lightkeeper smiled, taking your hand.
"Lead the way, my flame."
You brought him to Blue Amber Lake. The glow from the lake contrasted against the dark night sky, making it look more enchanting than it already was during the day. The atmosphere was tranquil, with no one else there except the stars twinkling in the sky.
"I can never get over how gorgeous this place looks," you gasped.
"Indeed. But it does not compare to your beauty." The corners of Flins' eyes crinkled in a warm smile. Pink dusted your cheeks as you nudged him playfully.
"You and your honey tongue," you giggled.
"I mean what I said though," Flins chuckled.
"Alright. I believe you," you laughed. "But for the record, you are the pretty one." Another chuckle escaped the male's lips, though you did not miss the rosy hue on his pale cheeks. You got started on the campfire. Flins offered to help but you stopped him, saying that as the birthday guy, he should sit back and relax while you do the work. With a helpless yet affectionate smile, he complied. Once the fire was lit, you cooked a couple of fish. You handed one for Flins to try. He accepted the fish gratefully and took a bite.
"Mmmm... not bad at all," he nodded approvingly. You beamed, pleased that he liked it. You took a bite of your one, humming in contentment. Flins was right. It did taste delicious if you said so yourself. The two of you chatted as you ate your food (with you cooking other food at certain intervals), sharing interesting things that had happened and whatever that came to your mind.
Of course, a birthday celebration wasn't complete without a birthday cake. You took one out and sang the birthday song to Flins before excitedly telling him to make a wish. Closing his eyes, Flins did as told and blew the candles. You cut the cake in half and gave one half to Flins and the other to yourself. You also poured Fire-Water for the two of you.
"Cheers to another year of your existence!" you exclaimed, raising your glass. "I am so lucky to have a wonderful person such as yourself in my life." With a smile, your boyfriend clinked glasses.
"Thank you. I am glad that you think that way," he replied. You and Flins enjoyed the cake, taking sips of the Fire-Water in between.
A while later, you leaned on Flin's shoulder, snuggling close to him.
"Did you enjoy yourself?" you asked.
"I did. You have my gratitude," he replied.
"That's great," you beamed affectionately. You whipped out a kamera. "Say cheese!" The two of you smiled for the photo and you clicked the shutter twice. Soon, two identical photos came out. You handed one to Flins.
"Here," you grinned. "Now we have something to commerate this special occasion." Your boyfriend hummed in agreeement. He paused for a moment before asking, "Is it alright if I make a request?"
"Could you stay over my place tonight? I... don't want to let go of you just yet."
"How can I refuse the birthday guy?" you grinned. "Seriously though. Even if it isn't your birthday, my answer is still 'yes'." A soft smile graced your lover's features. He held out a hand.
Flins laid in bed. He looked at the framed photo sitting on his bedside table and smiled. He turned his attention to his partner who was in arms, fast asleep. Having lived as long as he had, birthdays no longer hold much meaning to him. But when they had told him earlier that they were grateful to have him in their life, it ignited something in him. Perhaps his existence did mean something, after all. In fact, he was starting to look forward to his birthdays.
"I should be the one being thankful," he murmured, gently brushed a strand of hair away from their eyes. Ever since they came into his life, his life had become more vibrant.
"So if I could make just one wish, it would be that you keep burning bright and light up everyone's life, including mine," he continued, dropping a kiss on their forehead.
"For you are my flame. And I will do everything in my power to protect you."
