Thank you everyone for all the support, reblogs and likes that you've left on chapter 1, so I'm tried my hardest to get this one out.
(a/n: just a little heads up I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes :p)
"What do you mean Damian?" Bruce said as he sat up to look at Damian.
"They were wearing something weirdly formal, and they were carrying a few things. it kinda looked like a cap and gown."
Jason got up and reach above his head to stretch.
"You know them always doing things to try and get our attention. I swear they have it the easiest. no crime fighting, no worrying about juggling the lives of people. They just get to sit around all day and not have to worry about anything but keeping a good look for the press, and to not give us a bad name."
He grabbed his phone to check the time then sat back down.
"If I had their life I would be super happy and not act like a spoiled nepo baby."
"yeah I don't understand why they try and get our attention so much, we give them plenty." Stephanie said while trying to win in a game of Mario Cart against Tim and Duke, both nodding in agreement.
I was in the middle of packing, until I came across an old photo when I was in 7th grade.
It was a picture of me, Alfred and a couple of old friends. We were all standing around a gigantic mechanics trophy, which was sitting in the corner of my room right now.
Me and my friends had just won a robotics competition, and as always I had sent everyone in the family an invite. I can recall it vividly.
I was just twelve years old when I was running from everyone's doors in the manor. I was mailing them handmade invitations to the robotics event. It was one of my best works, at-least twelve year old me thought that. Glitter pens and robots made out of construction paper.
I had thought that the reason that they didn't come to my other recitals, competitions, meets, debates, and plays were because I sent the flyer through text to soon before the date, so they couldn't plan in into their schedule. so I thought if I handmade the invitations with a weeks notice. I would give them plenty of time to plan their weeks around it to be able to go and support me.
Sadly, younger me was a little too naive.
No one but Alfred ending up showing. like always
That really should've been the eye opener to me but what can I say I had a hopeful heart.
So many other times I would try and personally hand my family the invites, but as expected each one had their excuse.
dick would just fold the invite up and put it in his pocket not even look a the date just to 'look for him on the crowd'.
Jason would surprisingly take the invite but, I'd find the invite on a random abandoned desk in the manor.
Tim would just put the paper atop of all the other papers on his desk.
I could never find Cassandra, thinking back on it I'm pretty sure she was purposely avoiding me. I'd always have to settle with giving two invites to Alfred to give to both my dad and Cassandra.
Stephanie and Barbra would always take my invite but they'd both say,
"let me check my schedule first"
I always knew that they'd never make it.
Younger me would always imagine how my older sisters would look in the crowd cheering me on.
Duke was the nicest about it. He'd always take the invite, look at the date and add it to his calendar. When that first happened I was jumping up and down. I felt so ecstatic that someone from my family was actually going to show up for me, other than Alfred of course. But each time the day of my events would come around I'd get a text from him telling me that he couldn't make it. His reasoning started out genuine. Soon turning into dumb excuses.
And I learnt quickly that Damian doesn't like to be bothered by me because he doesn't see me as a sibling. So how dare I even see him as mine.
I had learnt that the hard way.
After a while I just stopped asking, and to my surprise my life got a whole lot better.
I stopped looking for my family in the crowd and instead spent time preparing, warming up, and hanging out with friends.
I learnt so much from my older peers. instead of my siblings.
I was taught how to drive a car by a senior named Mary. she also helped me fill out school paper work and DMV paper work in place of my siblings.
During my junior year my medical science teacher was the one that sat beside me during school to help me chose and quickly fill out dual enrollment forms to take college medical classes instead of my dad.
My friends helped teach me how to ride a bike, instead of my older brother.
My friends parents would take me to events with their families and treat me as one of my own. I'd laugh with their families and eat with them, and Alfred would be the one to pick me up. Not with my family just himself. But he was enough and honestly those were some of the best car rides. Just me and Alfred in our own world. Gossiping, joking and laughing.
Those years made me realize who my true family was.
By accepting reality and understanding when I was not wanted or accepted by my own family. I was able to move on with my life. No matter how bad it hurts to come to terms with my family not loving me, I found the people who would.
After a while of looking through photos while packing while thinking back on the good and bad memories, my room was finally all packed up.
I stood up and took a look around all I had left was the furniture in my room and all the trophies that I had collected. Sadly they couldn't come with me, I had enough junk that I was taking to my dorm in place of them.
My pictures though were obviously coming. I'd sleep on my pictures just to be able to have room, if it came down to it. Luckily I didn't.
A know drew me out of my thoughts.
"Young master, you called?" I heard Alfred's calm voice through the door.
"yeah Alfred come on In."
when he walked in I could already see the shock on his face. Which was quite the task since Alfred usually kept a neutral face, you'd usually have to rely on his eyes or a slight twitch of his mouth to know what he was thinking.
"Why are you all packed up young master? Are you trying to move to a new room in the manor?" He asked while walking around and scanning over what the boxes around him were labeled.
"Haha, no I meant to tell you after graduation but I guess that it slipped my mind, but I was actually called you over to tell you."
I laughed while walking to sit down on my bed. Waiting for Alfred to join me.
"The college emailed me a few days before graduation and offered to give me an apartment on campus, I'll have a roommate that I know, it'll be a co-ed but I've met all the people already. All of us have been talking ever since we met during an online class project."
I started while staring into Alfred's eyes. Scanning for any disappointment, because his approval was so important to me.
" The apartment is in a good area so me and my friends can walk to classes together, I've got an amazing meal plan that I can either use in the dinning hall or use at the any of the grocery stores on campus."
Alfred had opened his mouth but before he could say anything I cut him off.
"But I really want to go. By going there I'll get so many new experiences, I can do the labs and gain more credits, I can also use the numerous labs that are only offered at that location, not just in the program that the Gotham location offers. So please Alfred think how this will push me to be great."
He was quiet for a while, clearly thinking about what his next move was. Because he knew his approval would mean the world to me.
"I suppose that this arrangement would help push you to be the best that you can."
He said as he took me in for a hug. My eyes tearing up as I put my head on his shoulder and hug him back.
"Just know (name) there will always be a place for you in the manor with me" He said while rubbing my back.
I pulled away thanking Alfred, before standing up and wiping my eyes.
"so when are you moving out officially? Its clear that you've already packed, a little disappointed you didn't call me to help."
He inquired while standing up and smoothing out his suit.
"In one week but I'm planning on sending a few of the boxes here with my things to the college. They offered to put my things in my room so they're ready for me to unpack when I get there. And to help me with the trip there."
I responded while going to organize which boxes would be sent and which would arrive with me.
"Do you wanna help me choose which one goes when?"
I said which a little smirk.
"of course young master, anything to help lessen your stress load."
Alfred said while cracking a smile before walking over to where I was.
I loaded the car up with Alfred. luckily everything worked out perfectly. I didn't have to put anything in the passenger seat so I'd call that a win win.
Now that the car is all packed its time to say my goodbyes.
I turned to Alfred with tears in my eyes and hug him before I allow my tears to fall.
"This is not a final goodbye Alfred. I swear to call you as many times as I can."
While squeezing him I hear a little sniffle coming from him.
"And I will too (name), I'll be quite lonely in the manor with out you next to me studying, or helping you study. I wish you well."
He said as he pulled out of the hug and opened the door to my car.
I got into the car buckling up while Alfred closed the door behind me. I rolled my window down.
"Actually (name) I have a gift for you but open it when you get there okay?"
Alfred said before handing me a gift box it was pretty decently sized with nice navy blue wrapping a lighter complementing blue ribbon adorned the box holding the two parts close. a small bow in the corner for decoration.
"Okay Alfred I promise I'll open it when I get there."
"And Alfred I swear that any break I get I'll use to come down and visit you and my friends back in Gotham."
My smile was burning my cheeks but at the same time tears were burning in my eyes. I am glad to get away but also sad to leave those who were actually there for me.
back in the manor like 2 weeks later
Alfred had been visiting (names) room as often as he could to dust their room, and wash their bedding. Ensuring that the room would be clean for when they do come and visit.
Jason was walking through the manors library during one of his visits back. He was just trying to find an old books that he remembered he read when he was about damians age, and he though he would enjoy.
While he was looking through the shelves he came across a whole bunch of medical books that he didn't remember being there when he actually frequently came to the library.
Alfred just happened to be walking around the corner, duster in hand.
"Hey Alfred, when did we get all these medical books and when did the medical books move from right here instead of in the corner?"
Jason asked while looking through the titles of the books
'whoever, or if anyone actually read these then I'd be impressed. these are pretty advance topics. Damian might like these.'
"those are master (names) extras. And I had moved them closer so that they wouldn't have to keep walking to the far end of the library when studying at the very desk you are sitting on."
That had caught Jason's attention.
Alfred walked away towards another bookshelf to continue dusting, but not all of Jason's questions were answers, so he followed Alfred.
"These are (names). Also what do you mean by extras? are the others in their room?"
Jason asked while following Alfred.
"The young master took the rest of the books to college with them, their room is pretty much empty aside from the furniture and trophies from their childhood. and yes (name) did read all of these, studies them quite well in fact. I'm pretty sure they could recite those books from memory."
Alfred said while smiling, he remembered seeing (name) sleeping on that exact desk when he turned around to address Jason. He then turned back around before saying.
"I've got a few more tasks around the house sorry master Jason I must get those done before I start on dinner so I must take my leave."
Jason was just left there thinking, his Brian running a thousand thoughts per minute.
'(name) went to college?, they didn't really leave did they? , I guess Alfred said that their room was empty?... wait where even is (names) room?'

Okay so this one actually came to me really quick, so I can take me time and give y'all a really nice and detailed chapter 3 next month. But I hope y'all enjoy my work and again any feedback or suggestions are welcomed. And sorry to everyone that was expecting really big angst that just not how it worked out. I am going to try and make the next chapter really focus on the Wanyes other than Alfred.
I do have a question though would y'all be more interested in (name) being open to fix the relationship or want them to be really petty because I've got really good angst tropes to go with either but can't decide.
(Names) attitude towards the Wanyes?
Forgiving but not forgetting
Extremely petty and passive aggressive
