i was thinking, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to include a back shot and/or 3/4 shot of naked & outlined catra in your reference sheet, because she has three horizontal stripes on her lower back that you can see when she's wearing pajamas, and i'd imagine a lot of people tend to miss that when drawing (they already often forget the visible arm stripes lol).

and semi-related, i find it odd that she doesn't have any stripes on her front torso or legs - is that just me? maybe it would've looked weird for the s1 leggings' holes to be colored differently from the rest of her skin tone, idk.

ok so you're probably right however that means i have to figure out where the stripe placement is 😭 lol which is all the more evidence i should do it but damn i would have to dig through clips of Taking Control and... actually did we ever see them before that?? was there one shot in season four or am i losing my mind? someone tell me what episode that is and I'll consider adding them LOL

to me it's not weird just because if you think about a cat's striping, it typically fades out on their stomach/underside. that just happens to be catra's entire front as a magicat LOL wait sorry post canceled i was just gonna grab an image from the intent and i found this instead

anyway stripes are a camouflage adaption and if she as a magicat was adapted to camouflage specifically when running on all fours (which she seems to do when especially panicked/hurried) it makes sense for them to be on her back and outer arms. If she was camouflaged for bipedal walking then the placement makes less sense and is purely based on irl cats XD

good news: yes, there are shots that show her back stripes - 4x03 & 5x06.

bad news: i can't tell whether she has 2 or 3. there may be another stripe hidden under the bottoms... or not. also unless the animation stretching is wonky, it seems like they're on her lower back instead of the middle (and therefore would make the third possibility hidden within the tops instead)

i didn't initially include these due to the lighting of the scene being obviously inaccurate to her true colors so i figured they wouldn't be helpful, but they do make the stripes consistently appear to be lower (at least to me)

and now that i think about it, it doesn't make sense for there to be a third stripe below, as it would literally be in the exact same spot her tail comes out from; there isn't any space

@catras-breakup-song this is probably news because it was a "girls" size shirt, aka children's size, so it probably didn't pop up when most people were browsing the site. however, it gets gayer (and more confusing. this is the full shirt:

i have no idea why they put that quote on it or made it look like they were citing both of them instead of just catra but this thing is so inexplicable i'm mad i can't wear it

these were originally made for nycc but they did stock them online a few times

han cholo also made a s5 chibi catra... but i don't like it lol

she looks a lot happier and i could cry about that 😭 but she also just doesn't really look like her?? and she has the s5 hair with the s1 outfit?? i'm pretty certain the reason for that is that han cholo made this edit themselves instead of ray or whoever else redrawing it so the changes are kind of awkward and tried to be minimal, but give her the fangy back it was cute

hahaha that last part reminds me of when dreamworks posted to twitter a bunch of their queer characters (...it was mostly spop) for pride month back in 2020 and did the same thing with catra's s5 hairstyle in her s1 outfit!

also on another note... it shouldn't have taken 6 years for the only official-looking render for s5 catra in this style (still without shading, even) to be done by you, a fan, based on reference sheets made for production notes behind-the-scenes. all you'll find when you look for it on the fandom wiki or any other source is a cut-out screenshot (with affected lighting from a particular scene) that isn't even her full body:

and you may say, well they only made these detailed renders for the debut designs, which is also true for other DW shows like voltron, but then for this collage they clearly made a new one for s5 she-ra (which is full-body, and if i can't find it elsewhere i'll cut it out myself later) and edited catra's head, albeit lazily by comparison since otherwise it's clearly still just this first one:
