Pros of having a brain that makes very fast associations: Good comebacks and jokes.
Cons of having a brain that makes very fast associations: that story about how you broke your foot reminded me of a fun fact about lizards.
Carpenter, actor, pot dealer... that man has range.
idk who needs to hear this rn but suffering is not noble. take the tylenol
One time when I was younger I was refusing to take headache medicine and my mom said “the person who invented that medicine is probably so sad you won’t let them help you” and now every time I find myself denying medicine I just imagine the saddest scientist making those big wet eyes like “why won’t you let me help” and whoop then I take the medicine

This is one of those works of art that sticks with you forever. My partner and I first saw this comic years ago and quote the “okay, but like…” in our dogs’ voice several times a week.
I do love that every dog owner who has ever seen this just immediately goes “using that forever”

I've never watched Scott Pilgrim but I'm reading about this animated Netflix series and apparently one of the reasons they were able to get the whole cast of the 2010 movie to reprise their roles is bc Michael Cera fucking responded to a 9 year old cast email thread out of nowhere as if no time had passed and got the cast all chatting with each other again
Fuck Unity (The game engine, not the concept)
They want up to TWENTY CENTS per game install, once you reach a certain number of installs.
TWENTY CENTS
Just imagine, 100 people install your game and you suddenly owe Unity 20 fucking dollars. Chances are, you haven't even made that much in profits from 100 sales.
It's time for unity to fucking die. How fucking dare they demand royalties from game devs for an engine THAT ISN'T EVEN FREE?
In case you don't know, here's a list of a few bigger games that use the Unity engine:
Hollow Knight
Rimworld
Subnautica
Pokemon Go
Cities: Skylines
Rust
Hearthstone
Pillars Of Eternity
Cuphead
Beautiful Cinnamon Roll Too Good For This World, Too Pure
Would that I could turn back the hand of time and warn the onion staffer who penned this piece. “Is it worth it,” I would ask. “Is it worth it?”
truly a cultural reset
oh THAT’S why 2014 was Like That
Sometimes y'all talk about Buddhists like they're faeries that live on mountains and not people who take the bus.
Quick, without googling anything, name the three main forms of Buddhism.
The third one you can never remember the name of is Vajrayana. That's the esoteric one from tibet. It's actually the smallest of the top three by far, which is weird because it's what EVERY westerner thinks of when we picture Buddhism. We've got centuries of orientalism to thank for that.
Also Zen Buddhism is NOT Vajrayana. Zen is a subschool of Mahayana.
See this is weird to me because I live near Namgyal Monastery so Buddhists in general and Buddhist monks specifically to me really are just folks that take the bus and argue in the grocery store over if they should get the good stuff because it's on sale or the stuff they normally get because it's still a bit cheaper. Like I've seen the Dali Lama randomly around town coming out of a head shop.
This is a wonderful response but you should know that Head Shop probably means something very different here in Los Angeles.
Oh no you did mean a weed store that's even better. I hope his holiness got a badass water pipe.
Tbh I think fandom generally needs to get better at sitting with the uncomfortable fact that a story/fanwork/meme/whatever can hurt one person and help another
This is why I think “tag warning” culture is kinder and more constructive than cancel culture / “no problematic content” culture. One size does not fit all, but if we learn to be more aware of the fact that the same thing can be emotionally validating or cathartic to one person and upsetting to another, and pick up a general mindset of thinking before we post, “what might people need a heads up for in this content?”, we grow more compassionate, more thoughtful, and more understanding of the differences in people’s experiences.
He’s had a rough day
you missed the opportunity to say ‘ruff day’ instead and that is a sin that may never be forgiven
