soon it will be autumn, and i'll have a cup of warm tea, an old, unread book with crinkled pages, and the leaves would be a beautiful shade. everything would be alright again.
“in this essay i will explore” memes piss me off because it implies y’all still using first person pronouns when writing academically. childish ass
In this essay, this writer will explore the implications of pretending that one’s own personal view is not part of one’s essay, and the inaccessibility of academia related to established custom of artificial detachment.
In this essay, I will demonstrate that the blanket ban on first-person pronouns in high-school and some university English classes is poorly understood and hastily adopted as a result. I will further illustrate that it is a mere substitute for explaining to inexperienced writers that excessive use of phrases like “I think” or “I believe” is unnecessary and rhetorically weakens academic writing, and that opinions expressed in an essay are already assumed to be those of the author. Finally, I will address strategies for effectively conveying that information to students, who often find it difficult to grasp.
In this essay, passive voice will be used throughout in order to distance the work done from any researchers, or, in reality, kind of imply all experiments were done by magical lab gremlins and the results were simply recorded.
in this essay, enlightenment will descend upon you without the agency of any living being. you will know things, yet know not how you know.
prepare yourself. it begins.
In this essay, I will use the first person pronoun as a bludgeoning weapon
SORRY FOR THE VERY PERSONAL COMIC!!
This is my half of “Unhealthy”, an essay comic double header with the lovely and talented Sarah Winifred Searle. She and I both wrote about our personal experiences as overweight ladies with eating disorders, and her story is breathtaking! You can buy a physical copy of the book here: https://topatoco.com/collections/abby-howard/products/ah-unhealthy
Or buy a digital PDF here: https://abbyhoward.itch.io/unhealthy

the entire time i spent watching this movie i was just waiting for charlotte to turn into a traitorous bitch, because that is what the media has told me for my entire life that her character archetype is supposed to do
kudos to disney for proving me wrong
Let me tell you how great Lottie is. 1. She has EVERYTHING. This girl can literally have anything she wants and instead of hanging out with girls of her social class she’s friends with a poor girl. 2. Not only is she below her social class but she is African American which back in the twenties was COMPLETELY frowned upon. Lottie is risking social status to be friends with Tia. 3. When Tia and Naveen end up together in the end, Lottie doesn’t throw a fit or act upset, she is genuinely happy that Tiana has found true love even though that’s all Lottie has ever wanted her whole life. Something that her daddy can’t buy for her. 4. She’s true to herself and doesn’t let others judge her just because of how much money she has and she has a wonderful friend like Tiana that loves her for that. Lottie is wonderful and is highly underrated.
If Tiana had let her, Charlotte would have bought the restaurant for Tiana and stocked it with the most expensive everything and had a grand ball for the opening.
#Charlotte was a ride or die chick to the end#like she’s the defination of sugar and sweetness as a person#like Tiana could ask her for anything and Charlotte would do it no questions or conditions required
Remember that scene when Charlotte was hanging out with the prince until she came across Tiana who had fallen into her beignet table and gotten desserts all over her dress after being rejected by the racist assholes who denied her restaurant, and Charlotte immediately dropped everything to get Tiana cleaned up and gave her one of her own dresses. The entire night she’d been going nuts because all she wanted was to be with the prince but her friend was in trouble so she put that shit on hold no questions asked. Charlotte was a real one.

The unexpected everything, a review
The unexpected everything, a review
Here is the thing, I love Morgan Matson Books, but i don’t seem to be considering them for a reread. The stories are great and all, and the read turns out to be an enjoyable one, but that is it for me, i end up forgetting all about them and don’t seem to want to read them again.

Change is weird, it is either good or bad, and this year’s book fair had a big change in its location that affected it in lots of ways. Instead of having it in its usual location which is at Nasr city , it got transferred to a new location at the 5th settlement which got many of the Egyptian bookworms in an uproar. But never less, the shows must go on and the book fair did start a few days ago and i come to you with my own.

This year’s book fair , which is on its 50th run, is held at Egypt International Exhibition Center at the 5th settlement. Its duration is from 23 January till 5 February, which in my opinion is a very short period of time. Upon entering you will find two large buildings, one contains hall 1 and 2 and the other one contains hall 3 and 4. Now before you go on reading you must know this, i have only explored hall 1 and 2 and i didn’t enter hall 3 and 4 due to the presence of many people that day (don’t go on a Saturday). Also note that i am mainly interested in English books and i don’t know a lot about Arabic releases. So this mainly a guide for those who are searching for English books at the fair, but you will find here some photos of Arabic books.
The AUC Book Press

I go to the AUC book press every year and i do find some good stuff there including new releases and for okay enough prices. This year’s was okay , there was some good classics editions, but those can be found at the store at any time. There is also a chance to win a 500 L.E voucher upon purchasing a book from their so don’t forget to check that out
Dar El Shorouk
Dar el shorouk had a wing at each hall, one with all Arabic books and the other one with a slight collection of English books that had a 20% off discount. you can check them out but don’t expect to find new releases.
The Egyptian American Book Center

The Egyptian American Book Center is always a must go destination for me, as i always found some good editions there so it is definitely worth a check out.
The Middle East Observer
I found them by accident by there were some impressive finds, but watch out for the prices and try to haggle a little bit.
As for transportation:
from my experience you can go to Alf Maskan a ride a micro bus that will cost you 10 L.E, it is faster but you will walk a little bit more because it doesn’t drop you off at the fair’s doors. there are also the fair’s buses, which are normal government buses but with a sticker on them. there are 8 lines and the fair is 5 l.e
That warps up my book fair experience, there is a chance i might go there another time to discover hall 3 and 4. If that happened i will give you an update. I do apologizes for not pointing which wing is in which hall, but with the fair’s new location and the absence of a fair map, this was proven to be a tedious task.
The 50th Cairo book fair experience Change is weird, it is either good or bad, and this year's book fair had a big change in its location that affected it in lots of ways.
