One of my personal smut fanfics features my twin OCs going at it. One of my favorite yaoi ships features an anti-hero OC and a villain OC who's pretty much a war criminal. One of the couples in Journey Across The Omniverse (my future mega crossover fanfic) became FWBs when one character was 163 and the other was 24 (They are currently 167 and 28, respectively).

At the exact same time, I want Trump to get impeached, I want child marriage to become illegal, I want bestality to become completely illegal, and I want direct incest to be illegal.

Just because I wrote a personal fanfic of my twin OCs going at it, just because one of my favorite OC ships is technically a darkship, and just because a fictional couple started having sex before one of them turned 25, doesn't mean I support pedophilia, abusive relationships, incest, etc. IRL.

Because fiction doesn't hurt people. Not fighting to make the worst crimes people can commit illegal does.

the new wave of puritanism around the US is genuinely starting to distress me like it actually freaks me out. i recently saw this video of a woman talking about how disgusting this book was (about a 16 year old being groomed by her coach) and how it should be illegal, and literally EVERYONE in the comments was agreeing, saying how they supported “reasonable” book banning + censorship, about how it was child abuse material, how the author should be arrested, etc. and i just. how does no one see it. do they not realize censoring one thing can and will lead to extreme censorship? do they not realize that this is fiction? that it can’t be csa because no child was harmed? i feel like a crazy person.

Pray, the fuck, tell what are we supposed to recover from exactly here? Joy and whimsy? An allover relaxed and civil attitude towards fandom? Why would anyone ever need to recover from being against harassment and censorship?

I think a lot of people fail to understand that if you aren't antiship, you are proship by default and vice versa. I've seen many people say they aren't on a side or they they're too employed for this, which is fair, you don't need to label it. However, if you believe people should be allowed to consume fiction in the way they want to, you're proship. If you believe fiction should be in any way restricted, you are antiship.

You don't need to be comfortable with everything to be proship and you don't need to actively harass people to be antiship. You will always be on one side because even if you believe in only censoring some fiction, you are antiship/antific. If you don't get involved in discourse and believe people should do whatever they want, you are proship/profic.

It's not something you can be truly neutral on, like a lot of things in our current world, because there is no middle ground when it comes to censorship of fiction, you either want it in any capacity or you don't want it at all.

I feel like antis and puritans need to learn that dark/taboo subjects have been done in fiction for a good while. Go anywhere back in history and you'll find a piece of fiction that is considered taboo or akin to a darkfic.

Humanity isn't as pure as you would expect it to be. Not every fictional world is sunshine and rainbows.

I think the majority of them know dark and taboo fiction has always been a part of art and literature for hundreds of years. it’s just easier and more convenient for them to target and harass fanfic writers in order to feel morally superior
