The best scene in episode 2. You cannot deny it-
in light of the new costume implying some things..* boy howdy, here comes a hot take, the crk fandom needs to understand the prospect of shadow milk being redeemed is not the end of the world
*wanna clarify this post was made before Sage of Truth released and it looked like it was gonna be a redemption costume
cookie run rarely even does redemption stories, the only big example of villainous characters being redeemed is in ovenbreak with lotus dragon cookie's growth and lychee dragon cookie building up to a redemption, which while i think on lotus's end it was kinda rushed they've been handling lychee very well, so its not like redemption stories in cookie run are "overdone" (also im sick of the "nooo im tired of redemptions" argument when 1. not everyone is, i personally love a good redemption story and 2. there are plenty of villains out there who are plain evil with no redemption, it's not a dying genre)
also it would be way more interesting than the more obvious resolution to the beast storyline of just sealing them away again, i think finding a way to appeal to the shreds of.. humanity? cookiemanity? still within them is a much more interesting narrative and lends itself to more stories to potentially tell with these five very interesting characters. and there are implications that the cookies they used to be are still in there somewhere, especially with burning spice, given how he full on bluescreens for a moment when reminiscing on the first kingdom he [....] (my money's on watched over, but we dont know what he was gonna say) when talking w/ nutmeg tiger in the kingdom
i've seen a lot of people say they'll lose interest in shadow milk if he gets redeemed which baffles me because for me at least, while a decent chunk of the appeal of the beasts is how interesting and entertaining they are as villains, one of my favorite parts of them is the heroes they once were, what they could've been like during those days, and the tragedies that led to them falling so deep into villainy: witnessing the worst in cookiekind and becoming disillusioned and deciding nothing should exist, witnessing their denizens live grow and die over and over and to the point they get sick of it and end up embracing destruction to take control of the cycle, and.. whatever we end up learning about the other three and what corrupted them.
for me, i see it like this lmao
and like, don't get me wrong, i know all the beasts really aren't good people but a redemption story doesn't necessarily mean a slap on the wrist, a redemption story can be about atonement just as much as it is about changing for the better, it can be messy, a sobering moment realizing everything you've done and everything you need to do to make up for it, there is sooo much story potential in delving into their pasts and delving into a redemption story of the beasts atoning for their deeds and growing as people it's crazy.. and besides, they were heroes once before, who's to say the potential to be that again isn't still within them?
i personally really wanna see a beast redemption and i'll never fathom why so many people are so against it when it's so much better of a way to conclude their story as the current main threat than just sealing them away again, i just hope that if this really is the route the devs go they'll handle it well because it can just as easily be done wrong, i have faith though
also i've seen a lot of people say the shadow milk costume looks ugly and they're WRONG it looks amazing i love blue and gold as a color combo
DOUBLING DOWN ON THIS. I AM DOUBLING THE HELL DOWN ON THIS. BEAST REDEMPTION ARC IS BY FAR WHAT MAKES THE MOST SENSE FOR THE STORY.
and it seems like the direction they ARE going. you want to know what really confirms that for me? silent salt's words:
"The corrupted are beyond redemption."
now at first that might be strange, i mean, what do you mean, neon? that's clearly him saying they're irredeemable.
and yeah, he is saying that.. but here's the thing. that is an idea that is meant to be, and WILL be challenged. we're supposed to hear his words and question if they're the truth, or if he might be wrong and there may be hope after all.. and the one who will prove there is hope?
White Lily Cookie will.
a core theme of of white lily as a character has always been redemption. a big driving force of her character is her resolve to make up for the deeds of dark enchantress, for pete's sake her skill voiceline is "This is my penitence!"
silent salt on the other hand, seems like he is going to deem white lily as beyond redemption for the actions of her darker reflection, hell, he seems to see HIMSELF as beyond redemption, too. i believe this story is going to prove him wrong, that redeeming oneself is possible for her, and for him too.
the idea that the corrupted cannot be redeemed will be challenged, and it will be challenged by none other than white lily cookie.
..besides, I think any route other than the Beasts being reformed would be completely narratively dissatisfying.
because if they just sealed them away again, or even axed them off entirely.. genuinely what was the point of writing them like that?
why write this group of villains who are fallen heroes, once virtuous and kind but descended to a dark and twisted path driven by tragedy? villains who all did horrible things, but are still sometimes shown with shreds of humanity still within them?
if not to reach out and find those shreds of humanity, have them undergo character growth (while still not downplaying the bad things they did, of course, they all did fucked up things and SHOULD be held accountable don't get me wrong!!) and finally begin to heal, what else could be done that would be a satisfying conclusion, what else could be the goal here?
the way they're written really doesn't feel like the way a villain designed to be irredeemable is usually written, i'd say longan dragon cookie is a prime example of a villain who is written to be seen as irredeemable, especially with how they were written in Clash of the Dragonkind and Draconis Immortalis.
sealing them away again would be incredibly underwhelming, i can't lie to you. it would send their story in a full circle in a bad way, it would make all we learned about them that made them so interesting feel like it didn't have any point. i don't really think that's what they're going for though, i think that's what the writers want us to THINK is going to happen until it's revealed that there might be hope for them to change.
OKAY SO I LET THIS SIT IN MY DRAFTS FOR A BIT AND THEN THE LATEST TRAILER DROPPED AND.
YEAH. NO YEAH. THE THEMES OF REDEMPTION ARE HEAVY WITH THIS ONE

Beast Corruption Order Theory
OKAY OKAY i needa post something not beast cookies related for once but they're just so fun to talk about.. that's not today though before it's potentially debunked in the upcoming update i wanna throw out my theory i've had for the order in which the beasts corrupted
So, we know that one by one, each of them turned to villainy, but in what order did the five of them go down that path? My theory is that it happened in the same order they were showcased in the "An Ancient Force Awakens!" trailer. My main reasons to believe this is that the order feels too random for what it is, it wasn't the order they're releasing, it wasn't the order they were named by Elder Faerie in the Silver Kingdom story, and it wasn't the order their counterparts were introduced, either. Sure, they could've just put them in whatever order looked the coolest, but it's more fun to ponder. Additionally, all these visuals specifically happen while Elder Faerie is narrating how they each fell under the weight of their own power, so it would be appropriate to show them in the order that happened while it was being spoken about.
This would mean the corruption order is Burning Spice, Silent Salt, Mystic Flour, Eternal Sugar, and finally, Shadow Milk.
Do I have any actual in-game evidence to back this up? Well, sort of, actually. Let me start with the stronger piece of evidence: Mystic Flour's in-game description. What about this backs up my theory? One particular sentence: "Her once radiant light tarnished, leading her to join forces with the fallen Beast Cookies."
This outright confirms two things.
Mystic Flour Cookie was not the first Beast Cookie to fall.
It says Beast Cookies, plural, so at least two of the others had to have corrupted before she did.
This means she had to have either been third, fourth, or fifth. My theory places her as the third Beast to corrupt, so this lines up.
My second, less strong but still notable piece of evidence lies in the backstory of the Beast who could've been the very first to crumble under the weight of their power, the backstory of Burning Spice Cookie. (Which btw, hot take but his backstory isn't bad it's just presented badly there's a lot more to it if you read between the lines but that's not important right now)
How it supports my theory is simple. Would Burning Spice have finally snapped from the cyclical nature of the Tides of Change if his friends were out there going mad and sowing havoc? I don't think that'd make sense unless he had somehow not heard that was happening, this would have definitely given him other things to focus on for that moment of time, for better or for worse. Also, nowhere in his in-game story or any content about his backstory are any other Beast Cookies mentioned, so there isn't anything implying he WASN'T the first, so that's something.
And that's basically it, this is my theory on the order of which the Beasts corrupted and why I believe in it. We might find out if this is correct or not as soon as the upcoming Shadow Milk update, we'll see.
also I just think it'd be cool if Shadow Milk was the last one to fall
i am tired of the new cookies immediately getting costumes at this point ngl
this fandom confuses me
the fandom: "burning spice is straight up evil, the other two were just jerks"
the other two:
