— Off Script Love (Akshaye x Saumya AU)
Years after a chance meeting in a hotel that left behind an unspoken attraction, Bollywood star Akshaye Khanna and ITV queen Saumya Tandon cross paths again on the sets of Dhurandhar. What once felt like a fleeting connection slowly turns into something impossible to ignore.
Hi... sorry to bother but have you stopped writing for Dhurandhar? Really missing TDTYJS
Hi
Don't be sorry Anon it's totally fine to ask.
I haven't stopped writing for Dhurandhar. I am still reading Rehmat fics. It's just that life lately been so changed that I'm not getting enough energy to write my fics.
Fics read karne mein bhi yahi hal hai mera. 1 hafte baad ek fic read karna start karti hu use complete karne mein 4-5 days lag jate hai😭😭 Mera fics read karne mein backlog araha hai😭😭
I know many of you must be waiting for next part of TDTYJS and trust me even I want to write and complete that story. I can't promise anything right now but I will surely try my best to update that and complete that story.
Summary: Faizal was born in 1993. The Lion King movie was released in 1994. You know what this means.
Disclaimer: As usual, only based on the characters from the Dhurandhar duology, not at all connected to the real life people, etc etc. I watched the start of the OG Lion King movie again, got hit by a wave of nostalgia and couldn't resist. Tooth-rotting fluff ahead.

Rehman was a careful man. He was meticulous about his work, he weighed every decision thrice before he made it, and he prided himself on his strategy and foresight.
Sometimes, though, his judgement faltered- he was only human, after all- and he made a mistake.
Or three.
A week ago, Naieem had come home begging to see a movie he had heard other kids talk about in school. Some cartoon movie with lions. Rehman had been unable to say no to his pleading, so he had agreed.
Mistake number one.
Then, on the day they were to see the movie, an emergency had come up. A huge shipment under attack from a rival gang- a shipment that was integral to a new deal he was looking to strike internationally. He couldn't afford for anything to go wrong. He simply had to go and take care of it personally. He had tried to break the news to Naieem, who took the news with a quiet, mournful understanding.
Rehman hadn't been able to bear the sheen of tears in his eyes. Naieem was a good boy- he didn't ask for much, he listened to his parents, didn't throw tantrums, and was far more mature than an eight year old should be. He didn't deserve to be punished because Arshad Pappu was a fucking asshole. So they had come to a compromise, and Rehman had called Uzair home and made him take Naieem to the movie.
Mistake number two.
Not because Naieem didn't like it, no. In fact, he enjoyed himself thoroughly. It was all he had talked about for the past week, chattering on and on about it until Rehman could probably recreate the entire thing in his head without ever having seen a second of it.
No, the issue was that Uzair had liked it even more.
Rehman knew Uzair was a lighthearted spirit- and he would always be his first child, no matter what- but the man was twenty-four years old, godammit. He shouldn't be so obsessed with a movie made for literal kids.
But what he thought was irrelevant. Uzair had liked the movie, and wanted to see it again. Naieem had school, so this time he dragged Donga with him. And Siyahi. And Shaukat. And Babla and Mukka. And half of Rehman's fucking enforcers. Rehman hadn't thought too deeply when all of them had disappeared one evening, figuring they were just drinking or playing football.
Mistake number three.
And that was how he had managed to end up here, sitting on a raised platform at the factory with his younger son in his lap, wondering what the fuck he was doing with his life.
Ulfat was busy that day and Naieem was at school, so Rehman had taken Faizal with him to the factory. He was more than happy to- spending time with his son was infinitely better than whatever work he might have.
Except Uzair had decided that this was the perfect time to stage a play.
Rehman's protests had fallen on deaf ears as Uzair had cajoled him into joining them outside his office, dragging his chair up onto a raised area and making him sit there with Faizal. Then he had started yelling out that weird chant- Rehman had already heard part of it from Naieem- and had gathered the men to stand around him in a semicircle.
"Nants ingonyama bagithi baba..."
Rehman had never wanted to take a drill to his ears more.
But Uzair had finished the chant, and assembled the men, and proceeded to play out the rest of the scene with complete seriousness. First Mukka, being the smallest had come and bowed before him. Then Uzair had found a long pole and walked through the gathering, almost bent double as he held onto the 'stick' for support. He climbed up to Rehman and Faizal, hugged Rehman, waved a rattle in Faizal's face (which had annoyed him significantly) and threw it away. He then brought out a bottle of red paint that looked like it had come out of Naieem's school supplies, and smeared it with two fingers across Faizal's forehead, followed by a a handful of talcum powder being thrown over both of them.
That had sent Faizal into a sneezing fit, which everyone found immensely pleasing for some reason. The men had cheered and roared so loudly that Rehman would swear he felt the floor shake beneath him. Uzair then proceeded to take the toddler in his arms, walk dangerously close to the edge of the platform, and hold him out to the skies, over the heads of the men below, showing off their 'next king'. The cacophony that followed made Rehman sure he was about to go deaf before he turned forty- imitations of elephants trumpeting, antelopes stampeding, monkeys jumping and screeching... they could have raised the dead with the noise.
Ya Allah... I am leading a band of children, Rehman thought. Because there was no way that these men- these men yelling and hooting and jumping around like animals- were the best killers and enforcers in town, hired to ensure his reign over Lyari. He had to be breaking several child labour laws by employing these people. There was nothing to do but wait it out, though. Otherwise these idiots would try to do this again behind his back, and someone would definitely get hurt in the stupidity.
The things I do for my people.
Suddenly, though, an odd stillness joined the atmosphere. Rehman didn't know why, but Donga froze mid-dance, eyes wide and the next shout dying on his lips.
There was not much Donga was afraid of, beyond Rehman himself. And Rehman had been sitting here all along, which meant...
Rehman turned around, only to see Ulfat standing in the doorway in all her glory, sharp grey eyes taking in the scene in front of her in complete silence.
One by one, all of the other men noticed her and got the message, their movements faltering before dying out altogether. All except Uzair, that is, who had his back to Rehman and Ulfat and was still holding Faizal out like a hawker selling shirts on the street. "Arre kya hua?? Sab ruk kyu gaye? We were doing so well with the scene! Come on, guys! Where's your energy?"
But no one dared to move.
"Abey gadhon, kya kar rahe ho-"
"Bhai-"
"Bhai ko pata hai! Tere saamne hain! Bhool gaya kya?"
"Uzair bhai." Babla interrupted him. "Peechhe mud ke dekho."
"Kya peechhe-" Uzair looked back, and instantly froze. "Oh, fuck. I- I meant, oh, hell. No, I-" he made a very undignified squeak. "Bhai, help."
Rehman shook his head. He was definitely getting into the middle of this.
Ulfat finally spoke. "Uzair," she asked, her tone dangerously calm and quiet, "why is my son being held like that above a ten feet drop to the floor?"
"Be- because-" Uzair seemed to realize that he was still holding Faizal out, and pulled him back from the edge. "We were, erm, practicing."
"Practicing what?"
"Governance. Succession. Heredity- Bhai aap ise pakdo." He thrust Faizal back into Rehman's arms, before backing away. "I just remembered... Naieem ko school se laana hai na? I'll go, I have work on that are anyways."
Rehman checked his watch. "Naieem's school ends at six, it's not even four now-"
"Haan lekin mera kaam- so important, so necessary- I really must go. Bye! I won't be back until dinner!" Uzair turned around and jumped off the platform, practically running towards the exit. The other men followed, muttering excuses and nodding at each other before they quickly fled as well.
Rehman stroked Faizal's hair as Ulfat walked over to them. "You're not actually mad, are you?" He asked. He didn't need to, though. He knew her well, and she lacked all the tell-tale signs of her anger: the blazing eyes, the flush on her cheeks , the clenched teeth... she wasn't angry, just pretending to be to enjoy the others' distress.
She stifled a laugh behind her hand. "The look on their faces, oh God." She tried to wipe the paint off of Faizal with her dupatta, but it had dried onto him. "Ye kya haal bana rakha hai mere bachche ka?"
Faizal squirmed away from the offending fabric and grabbed it in his chubby fists. "I think they do that to the baby lion in the movie. Naieem was telling us, remember-"
"Haan lekin ye sher kam, circus ka joker zyada lag raha hai." Ulfat picked Faizal up and kissed his cheek. "Achha, to yaha gaya tha mera powder..."
Rehman leaned away from her in mock affront. "Mere bete ko aise zaleel kar rahi ho?"
"Look at him, Rehman!" She was right- the combination of heavy face powder and red paint did remind him somewhat of a clown.
Rehman wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her into his lap, eliciting a yelp of surprise out of her. "Rehman!"
"Kya?"
"Yahan par aisi harkate-"
"Kyu, kya aitraaz hai?"
"Koi dekh lega!"
Rehman chuckled. "I don't think anyone is returning anytime soon, darling." He pulled her closer, helping her hold Faizal between them. Rehman usually wasn't fond of physical contact- entirely too many people of the likes of Jamali touched him without asking- but he couldn't get enough of it with his family. He grumbled and complained about it quite a bit, but he secretly loved it when his wife and sons would curl up against him, using him as a couch-slash-pillow for their cuddle pile. He found himself reaching out for them all the time- an arm slung around Naieem shoulders, a pat on Uzair's back, Faizal held against his chest, his hand reaching for Ulfat's whenever she was near... he craved it like an addict who simply couldn't refuse his fix.
There was probably some explanation for this behaviour in his fucked up past, but in his experience it was best to not think too deeply about it.
Ulfat smiled and bent down to kiss him, her lips soft against his. It was a quick, chaste kiss, meant to comfort rather than excite. Rehman sighed and melted against her, feeling the tension in his body drain away in her presence. It didn't matter where he was- her proximity always made him drop his defences, as if every cell in his body knew it could just let go and relax. Home. Safe. Home.
The peace, however, was short-lived. Faizal let out a loud, quivering wail from between them, tiny hands pulling at Rehman's kurta. They looked down to see their son looking up at them indignantly, tears shining in his eyes from being ignored.
"Arre, kya hua? Mere sona ko gussa aay?" Ulfat kissed Faizal's forehead. "Ammi-abbu dhyaan nahi de rahe?"
Faizal nodded vigorously.
Rehman shook his head as he shifted Faizal into his arms. "Ye kaise ho sakta hai? Tum to hame jaan se bhi pyare ho." He exchanged a grin with Ulfat. "I think we should show him, shouldn't we?"
Poor Faizal was helpless as his parents descended on him, smothering him with kisses all over- his cheeks, his nose, his forehead, his little hands and knees, until he was a shrieking, giggling mess, trying to squirm out of their arms. "Ammi! Ammi, bas-"
"No. I love my little cub too much. I can't stop." She kissed his nose again. "Should we let him go, Rehman?"
"Absolutely not." Rehman held him tighter. "We'll keep him with us always, all the time-"
"Abbu, NO!"
"No?"
"I want to play!"
"You can play with us."
"NO! Naieem bhaiya!"
"Okay, okay." Rehman sighed dramatically. "I think we can let him go sometimes. Right, jaan?"
Ulfat pretended to consider it. "I suppose so. But not right now." She tickled Faizal under the chin, making him giggle. He tried to jump out of her grasp, but Ulfat laughed and hugged him.
Rehman smiled as he watched them, his heart feeling dangerously full with emotion. They had paint and powder sticking to their clothes, his legs had begun to ache from the weight on them, and if anyone came in then his terrifying image would be in tatters, but he couldn't have cared less about any of that at the moment. Things were perfect.
He brushed back a lock of Faizal's hair that was about to go into his eyes. "Mera chhota sher," he murmured. "I love you."
Plz dont take this the wrong way... I noticed that you aren't active anymore. Just wanted to ask... are u leaving the fandom? I really really loved ur Rehmat fic and was hoping to see more of it...
Hey!
No I'm not leaving the fandom. It's just that lately I have been going through so many things in my life that I just don't feel like coming online. Not just on Tumblr I don't come online on any social media site. Will try to come back soon and if I ever left I will announce before going. Which I don't think is possible because jab tak yaha Rehmat ke shippers hai meri rooh bhi yahi bhatkegi🫠
Don't worry I didn't took it in wrong way infact I felt good knowing people are missing my fics😭 I never thought people will notice me being absent here🤧
~ ab apki yaad mujhe aa rahi hai , apki yaad mujhe aa rahi hai to isme mian ky kar sakti hu. Batao kya karu ab main . Jab apki yaad mujhe aa rahi hai , sata Rahi hai to kya karu main 🥺~
Got caught up with few things and wasn't in mood to come online on any social media platform so I HIBERNATE MYSELF😶🌫️
Kis kis ne yad kiya mujhe🙂
Will be reading all the fics now. List lambi hogayi hai. Aise update nahi ati koi 4 din gayab hui fics ki line lagadi😭 (but who am I to complain. I'm happy 🤭)
Okay so recently I have discovered a peak detailing 🤓 in the lyrical version of the Gehra Hua song, there's a sequence of "tu chaand hai ek dhadakta hua" and the camera goes straight to them at the same time! <3 I mean, yeah they're my chands 😭👉👈 (PLS THEY'RE SO PRETTY I'M STILL OBSESSED OVER THEM OKAY BYE)
The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?
