Disclaimer: This story is a piece of appreciation to the amazing chemistry of the actors playing Rehman Dakait and Ulfat Baloch in Dhurandhar (2025). I hope the real people rot in hell.
TW: Mention of Miscarriage
This pregnancy was like a blessing for them.
The Balochs were already blessed with Naieem and Faizal as their children. They were the best children Rehman and Ulfat would have ever asked for. But still, they wanted a girl, especially Rehman. He wanted to be a hands-on girl dad. He wanted a mini version of Ulfat, who'd be having the hazel eyes as same as of her mother.
They were extremely excited to welcome their baby. Uzair, Donga, and Siyahi, they were already in a busy mood to welcome their baby niece. They were in constant fights of proving themselves as the "best mamu" of all.
But, only Rehman and Ulfat knew how important the baby's safe arrival was after the tragic outcome of her third pregnancy, which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage. This time, they were extremely careful of every step.
Ulfat was staying at her parents' house as she came for a small holiday with her kids since Rehman was in Balochistan for work. She thought of meeting her parents and siblings during this stay.
Rubeena Jahan, Ulfat's mother, was very attentive towards her pregnant daughter. She used to keep an eye on her daily routine and made her daughter's food with her own hands, and took extra care of her. Saniya and Zubair, Ulfat's younger siblings, were too excited to meet her. They were inseparable for the first time since their birth.
Whereas Bilal Jahaan, Ulfat's father, was a stoic, serious, strict father who had a very tensed relationship with her daughter since her marriage to Rehman. He never liked a gangster to be married off her daughter. He had so much grudge against the relationship that he had refused to attend their wedding. From that day, he never spoke or even interacted with her.
He tried too many things to separate his daughter from the ruthless gangster. He filled his daughter's ear against him, he arranged a police raid in his office to arrest him, and even sent a message of warning for him for no interaction between them. But destiny had other plans. He didn't even come to see her children when they were born. He considered Ulfat as his dead daughter.
Ulfat was in the second month of her pregnancy. That meant every movement of her should have been carefully taken care of. Because one mistake could have led to a tragic miscarriage. Rubeena and Saniya were taking care of her with their eyes not leaving her for a second.
One night, Ulfat was trying her best to sleep, but it had no signs of coming at all. She tossed around her bed for an hour, but still, she couldn't sleep at all. After trying everything she could do to make herself fall asleep, finally she gave up and made her way out of her room to ask Rubeena for water, only to find her father still sitting in the large living room.
So, instead of waking her mother up from her sleep, she decided to ask Bilal for a glass of water.
"Baba, ek glass paani dijiye, hamein neend na aa rhi"
It was the best opportunity for Bilal to do something. Instead of ignoring her, he went towards her and caressed her hair with a fake-ish smile and told "Apne kamre me jaao beta, mai paani lekar aata hu".
But, her gut feeling was telling her something different. She tried to ignore that because at the end of the day, he was her father and why he'd try to harm her. She made her way back to her room, whereas Bilal went to the kitchen to fill a glass of water and mixed a sleeping pill into it.
He went to her room to give the glass to Ulfat. She still wasn't ready to take the glass as she was still feeling uneasy about his sudden changed behaviour, but Bilal insisted that she should have the water, and one more time he caressed her silky hair before going out of her room.
After drinking the water, Ulfat's uneasiness increased more instead of stopping it. She clutched the mattress so hard that her knuckles went white. Streams of hot sweat came down to her temples as she started feeling dizzy. Her breath became faster than normal as she slowly fell unconscious and fell into the bed.
Rubeena was horrified to find Ulfat in that state after waking up, when she was informed by Faizal that Ulfat wasn't waking up and responding to him. She tried calling Ulfat several times, only to hear no response from her. She called Saniya and Zubair to come to the room and check on her. Still, Ulfat gave no response to them.
The quick trip to the hospital wasn't easy at all. They were constantly calling Ulfat just to open her eyes and reassure that everything was fine. But, still, no response came.
"Ya Allah ye tune kya kiya." Rubeena was crying out of pain as her daughter was lying on the stretcher and was taken to the emergency room. They all prayed for Ulfat's and child's safety as everything felt like shattering in front of them.
On the other hand, Rehman was informed about the incident, and he didn't waste a minute to come back to Karachi and go straight to the hospital. Uzair also came to the Karachi National Hospital as he asked Rubeena about the incident.
Bilal was standing far from the chaotic situation at the hospital. Finally, he was successful in his plan. Finally, he had got his revenge from them. The grudge he was holding against her elder daughter has finally resolved. Now, he was waiting for confirmation from the doctors.
Finally, Rehman Baloch entered the hospital. The man who was feared by every person of Lyari was now standing there helpless in front of the doctors. He wanted to know everything that had happened with her in his absence. He faced towards Rubeena and asked about the incident.
"Kis kutte ki itni himmat hui ki woh mere patni ke saath aisa kare?" Rage was filling in him. Why would anyone do this with her? She didn't do anything to anyone?! Then why was she punished! He just now wanted to be with Ulfat. Nothing mattered now in front of him.
Finally, after what it felt like an eternity, the doctors came out of the OT and went towards Rehman and Ulfat's family. "She has lost a lot of blood. We didn't even know how to save her. We have saved her, but..."
Rehman's eyes went towards the doctor as he moved his steps towards him and asked, "What? Kya hua? Baccha to theek hai na hamara?"
"We are extremely sorry to inform you, but we weren't able to save the baby. Maaf kijiyega. Ham sirf kisi ek ko bacha sakte the. Zubair Jahan ji ne sign kiya tha iss pe"
Their blessing was gone. The baby was gone. But at least his Ulfat was fine. This mattered most to him. He could do anything to save the love of his life.
"Mujhe Ulfat ko dekhna hai. Please mujhe jaane dijiye, " he asked like a desperate child to meet Ulfat. He was already guilty of not being with her during this time. "Aap jaa sakte hai lekin sirf 10 minute ke liye. She is too weak to talk now. "
Rehman was guided to her room. She looked so tiny and fragile in the bed. A tear fell from his eyes as she was so weak and in deep sleep after the whole incident. He felt so guilty.
Moving towards her bed, he sat beside it and held her weak hand into his and said, "Ho sake to maaf kar dena mujhe jaan, mai tumhaare saath is mushkil waqt me saath nhi de saka." He kissed her hand as he still cried, while Ulfat was still very weak to answer her.
Their dream was shattered.
Ulfat's pregnancy was informed to her mother and siblings. They were over the moon after hearing the news and congratulated the couple. Ulfat had cut her ties with her father after she got to know his plan of harming her unborn child. It brought peace to her and her lifeless child, who had nothing to do in this filth.
Now, the family was fully focused on Ulfat's health. Rehman personally tracked her routine and diet chart. This time, he didn't want any unfortunate accident to occur, for this he didn't allow Ulfat to do any work, not even touch the pillow by her own.
"Is safar me tumhara saathi banke rahunga. koi kharoch tak aane nhi dunga tumpe."
