i find it funny how both tommy and tubbo had very little understanding of their canon counterparts and kinda just went with the flow and while doing so they created two of the most tragic characters i’ve ever seen and i think that is simply beautiful

I love the episode structure of LOST because so often it’s a very serious storyline paired with a very unserious storyline. It’s always something like

“John’s dad steals his kidney and leaves him for dead. Back on the island, Sawyer gets a new pair of glasses.”

“Sayid is held captive and brutally tortured while Hurley golfs.”

“Charlie deals with horrific PTSD after being kidnapped, hanged and revived. Meanwhile, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, toss a bag back and forth.”

“Boone is tied up, drugged, and left for dead in the dangerous jungle while Hurley battles a tummy ache.”

“Sawyer looks for the boar who peed on his shirt while Charlie comes to terms with taking a man’s life.”

“Hurley deals with the very real possibility he might be losing his sanity and spiraling into a deep depression while Locke makes Claire a birthday present.”

the most compelling moment of woe.begone, to me, was the consolidation of Micheal and lieutenant. it felt like a real death. every other dead man rises but Micheal the cowboy died in that episode, in my eyes. he "comes back" again and again, but none of the other iterations really feel as much like a real person. I guess that probably sounds like a writing critique, but it's not. woe.begone is an excellent (though possibly unintentional) testament to impermanence. I love the story and the characters but they shift forever and are often gone. to me the Micheal who i got to know and love died and became a vague shape that continues to produce copies of itself. there is no trackable central mikey. everything shifts and changes. I can think this and also continue to enjoy mike iterations across the story. there is no real mike walters. they're all real. at the same time, future Mike is gone, and future Micheal has died. and i enjoy that. it's permanent in a world where permanence has no meaning
