Well, this also can be taken as something romantic in case you ship them. (?)
I have the headcanon that they don’t like to read the same things, Rangiku goes for magazines about fashion and Toshiro is more into literature, but even if they don’t read the same books and magazines, they tell to each other what are they reading and keep updates of the topic to the other according of their advances in their reading. Something like:
Rangiku: Hey! How is it going? How’s Andre doing?
Toshiro: He’s gotten into trouble. He has discovered he’s able to fall in love, he’s fallen for a woman called Noys Lambent, who’s also in the eternity as a secretary.
Ragiku: Oh man, he’s gotten into trouble really.
Toshiro: And what about your horoscope?
Rangiku: Sounds good. It says this week I’m gonna have a surprise from an unexpected person. And that I’ve worked hard enough and people around me is starting to recognize it *giggles* Maybe my captain is going to recognize my good work?
Toshiro: He’s always done it.
Ragiku: Ahaha are you sure?
Toshiro: I don’t know. You can read his horoscope, maybe there’s a clue in there. *grins*
