N°2 Fur (a little) and N°7 Pebble for the Design.A.Dwarrowdam Challenge of @helplessavacado
WARNING WARNING WARNING : I mention child's death and blood.
I present to you : Pebble. Because she hasn't been name yet by her parents, my Ocs Parar and Jrié, Mother and Father of the Firebeard Clan. Why ?
Because in the Firebeard Clan, a child isn't named until their 6th birthday in order to protect them. From whom ? From Aulë himself. They believe that by not having a name of their own, it is harder for "Aulë to call them back to him" and thus prevent the death of the infant (I think here to the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Crib Death which happen in real life). So until the 6th birthday, every baby dwarf is a Pebble and is named like that.
She belongs to the first generation of dwarves Parar and Jrié birthed and so she helped them to build the Firebeard Kingdom alongside her brothers and sisters. She took the "teeny tiny smol bean" side of the Firebeard, thanks to her father being the tiniest of the Seven Dwarves Aulë created.
The Outside of the Mountains Outfit
Here she wears her "Outside of the moutains Outfit". It's a very large cloak with a large hood. It is very rare for children dwarves, especially the first generation, to go outside the mountains, but when they do, they wear this and are EXTREMLEY forbidden to remove it for three reasons :
1: It is a coat that has no sleeves but has openings at the front for the hands and has fur on the hood. Keep maximum warmth.
2: because the entire inside is lined with chain mail, protecting the child in case of sudden attack. It's a tiny armor but a comfortable one.
3: The bottom of the coat has embroideries on it which give informations about : the age, which clan the child belong to, their rank, food they need (Can they eat solid food yet ? Can they eat humans food or only dwarven food ? Do they have allergy ?) , which language they can speak (Are they mute ? Can they speak Iglishmek already ? Do they understand some humans languages like Westron ?). Very useful if lost in dwarven land.
The Smithing Outfit
I have to admit, I didn't have too much inspiration for this one, but here, Pebble wears leather gloves and a leather apron to protect herself for the fire. All children are required to have their hair styled as high as possible, often in a bun, to avoid any burning incident and clothes are as near the skin as possible too. Beard must be kept in braid.
The Tunnel Exploration Outfit
This is the outfit with the most layers on it to protect from the coldness of the deep parts of the mountains. They can styled their hair like they want but they must keep a braid that indicates their age by the number of knots on it. It's very important for others dwarves to know, based on her age, in which tunnels she is allowed to go or not in case she lost her way and is found by others dwarves. She also has a glowing stone on her foreheard to light her steps, much better than using torches. The outfit mostly consist of fur with a little cape, one tunic with short sleeves and one tunic with long sleeves, pants and boots. All with lining fur. On her waist she has a rope, a safe way to avoid knots and to not lost it. Gloves aren't allowed because it prevent children to learn how to recognize rocks when they touch it so she wears mittens.
Depending of their ages, Firebeard children spend their time either with their Mother at the forge or with their father in the tunnels.
Parar teaches them :
-of to start a fire and how to keep it burning, how to extinguish it, how to treats burns
-how to recognize which material is best to use depending of the forging project
-geometry, engraving, sculpting
-what food to eat and how to prepare it (food that keeps you hydrated, unlike what is eaten in the tunnels, where food must contain more protein and be hot to combat the cold)
-building various tools, from weapons to kitchen utensils.
-diplomacy
Jrié teaches them :
-to know where to dig, to recognize precious stones and how to extract them
-jewelry making
-safety measures in case of heartquake, landslide, how to find their way if lost, how to extract someone from a rockfall
-how to swim in the lake underground (Firebeards are the only clan where dwarves know to swim from a young age)
-what food to eat when digging
I'm trying to do a comic about this Pebble, about how she wants to learn how to write and how, since the Firebeard Clan have an oral culture, she must go and travel to the Broadbeam Kingdom to learn this craft. She likes the forge and she likes digging but the sound of pickaxe and hammer is too over overwhelming and make it hard for her to do both. She has a little breakdown as some point in the forge because how can she forge anything if the sound is too much and how can she be a Firebeard if she can't forge or dig ? After some reassurance from Parar, Pebble choose to learn the craft of Writing.
The Royal Outfit
This is her royal outfit (for now because I will change it) that she wear when she goes to the Broadbeam Kingdom to make her demand to Mirelm and Barkhem (my others Ocs Queen and King of the Broadbeam) to be take as a scribe apprentice. The braid that indicates her age is styled to be as much visible as possible and her "skirt" is embroided with stones she dug herself. The most important thing is the makeup on her face which is made to look like a flame...and which is made of blood and coal. This make up is made for battlefield or diplomatic meetings (which are kind of a battlefield in their own way). Usually the blood used is the dwarf's blood but until the age of 6, parents do the makeup and use their own blood and not the child's. It's only after the 6th birthday that children use their own blood for their make up.

N°10 : Warrior of design.a.dwarrowdam challenge
@helplessavacado
I drew my Queen Oc Parar again, trying to find what she would wear as armor and as weapon.
Her weapon is what is called a charcoal staff, it's used in real life in juggling but I find it so cool to give her one. It's basically a staff with like small forge at both ends with fire and charcoal that come out of the hundreds of hole. With that, every move is followed by fiery trails. it's both magnificent and terrifying.
Her helmet is like a beard to protect her own and her chain mail is made of dragon scales

N°5 Broadbeam for design.a.dwarrodam event by @helplessavacado AND I'M SO LAAAAAAATE and i'm so sorry too.
It's an old drawing I did from 2/3 months ago and I wanted to draw another but sadly life was too busy for me to do so. (but i still want to participate !!!!!)
So I present you Mirelm, Queen of the Broadbeam, Second Born of Aulë.
It's say that Aulë created 7 Fathers of the Dwarves, and there are writings that say he may have created 14 (wives and husbands) and some that he created 13 and left Durin alone.
I went with the second one (the 14 dwarves) and added this headcanon that Aulë built each pair with only a stone or a specific material (like the Firebeard were made with one stone of lava) so that why dwarves only talk about one of them because they are from one stone only.
As I said, Mirelm is the Second Born of Aulë and for now I didn't choose her clothes apart from the fact that it is expected and a custom for them to show their chest, they don't wear clothes that hide it. It's tricky for her because she has been capture and torture by Sauron centuries before the events of the Lord of the Rings and so, have huge scars in the entirety of her back that she's not supposed to hide. No she will not talk about it. No she doesn't acknowledge that she had them. She also had to stay quiet for so long in order to not give informations to the evil lord that she has selective mutism now and she prefers to speak in iglishmêk. She's on her fourth reincarnation when the event of the Lord of the Rings occur.
I was board and now I have a new lockscreen

PARAR VS SMAUG PART 5 (complete) !!!
(I put the two first pages of the little part 5 already posted again too)
It takes place juuust after part 4, Lord Jrié and Lord Barkheam are still running to the WindLances (and also I put some description at this end because I’m a little afraid my drawings aren’t precise enough to be understood and because I explained a little about the sleep stone again).
Part 1/Part 2/Part 3/Part 4
Description :
Page 1 : Barkhem pushes Jrié away from rocks falling on them due to Smaug. Although his shield manages to protect them from the largest rocks, Barkhem prefers to protect the smallest dwarf rather than himself so he is struck by one of the rocks, which crashes down on his leg. He falls on the floor and the torn fabric reveals his leg, scarred by old dragon burns that refuse to heal despite the stone sleep (stone sleep heal physical injuries but not mental ones. Trauma can prevent proper healing, which is what’s happening to Barkhem and why they can still have scars ) and his now broken prosthesis that allows him to use his weakened leg. The trauma and frustration of not being able to heal and having a leg that is always weak makes him hide his prosthesis and scars, which is why Jrié reacts this way. He knows that the king of the Broadbeams has a prosthesis, but he had never seen it, nor the injuries that necessitate its presence. Barkhem tells Jrié to leave him behind for now, knowing he can no longer run as fast as the situation requires.
Page 2 : Jrié refuses to let the Broadbeam king behind and offers his pickaxe as a walking aid. the Lord of the Broadbeams is surprised of Jrié’s offering, because unlike Barkhem’s hidden prosthesis, Jrié was never seen without his pickaxe in his hand, always the same one since Aulë created them, which had become almost like an extension of his arms over the centuries.
Page 3 : Jrié and Barkhem are running through the city, trying to find a windlance that Smaug has not yet destroyed. Jrié asks his friend if he has an other plan in case they don't find one but Barkhem answers no and asks if Jrié has one. The little king of the Firebeard says that they will need to buy time so that Parar can regain consciousness and is dead set on the fact that his wife can and will win against the dragon. Barkhem doesn't answer to Jrié's proposition. They are able to find a windlance but all the strings are broken but they choose to use it anyway.
Page 4-5-6 : Parar regains consciousness a little by little, lying on the mountainside, slowly merging with the stone beneath her. She hears the voices of her husband and Barkhem, looks in their direction, removes her hand fused to the ground and looks at it, then raises murderous eyes to Smaug while clenching her fist.
Page 7 : Jrié and Barkhem patched up the strings, but since the mechanism is broken, they have to pull and aim the black arrows themselves. Suddenly, they hear the sound of a horn and look up. Parar is there, hammer in hand, blowing a war carnyx to warn :
1) Smaug, her husband and her friend that she is alive
2) Smaug that she's going to smash his head in two.
Barkhem and Jrié are so so happy and relieved to see her.

( a little) PART 5 !!! (a little) PART 5 !!!! (a little) PART 5 !!! (well ok it's more a 1/2 of part 5 because it was supposed to be 6 pages but those two already took so many time ^^')
It takes place juuust after part 4, Lord Jrié and Lord Barkheam are still running to the WindLances (and also I put some description because I'm a little afraid my drawings aren't precise enough to be understood and because I put a liiiiittle backstory).
Description : Barkhem pushes Jrié away from rocks falling on them due to Smaug. Shes so cool
I'M STILL WORKING ON PART 5 OF MY LITTLE COMIC I DIDN'T LOSE MOTIVATION !!!!
so, have a Parar not ready to give up the fight against Smaug :D (what she is supposed to have is called a carnyx, it does exist and it actually very cool ! Its a war horn but also a music instrument)
@shrimpsthings
@drippingmoon
@medievaliana
It so amazing
PART 4 !!
(oh it's getting so much better i'm so happy ! And I finally understood why people color comics with grey because it's soooooooooooo so so so so so much easier. Also Smaug still looks weird but i'm learning i'm learning !)
Oh and I apologized in advance because many of you thought Jrié was running to save his wife XD
He made this choice because the kingdom as a whole is more important to save than a single dwarf and like Barkhem said, once the sleep tone is coming, there is not really anything you can do about it (depending on the injuries) so now he is just hoping Parar will be fine and not entering it. (he is in denial)
I tried to draw children dwarves but they are a lot...skinnier than I wanted ^^' XD also for the babies dwarves, I didn't really know how to design or draw them so they look like round weird things with only eyes and maybe some limbs.
To be continued...
