The Foundation Of This Building Is Terrible Awful
Another day was just another opportunity to explore the campus and further familiarize himself with everything the school had to offer. Today, Hikaru would enter the bakery and see what that was all about. Part of him enjoyed meeting people, but he also enjoyed surveying the interior of the shops and testing himself on whether or not he could recognize anything about the design.
As he stepped over the threshold and into the shop. Immediately his attention fell upon the girl behind the counter. Hikaru couldn’t help but quirk a brow in her direction as she began her greeting. His eyes fell toward the rows upon rows of baked goods protected behind a sheet of glass. Had they really been laced with Poison? The thought of something so ridiculous caused Hikaru to crack a smile as he stepped further into Turnover A New Leaf.
“Does that tactic ever scare anyone off? I’ve heard these baked goods were to die for but I would have never expected someone to take the saying literally.”
As he drew closer, he took a closer look to see just what was for sale before glancing up toward the girl once again.
“Do you have anything without arsenic or asbestos in it?”
In response to his first question, Karin just smiled and shook her head, trying her hardest to look disappointed. In the meantime, she let him speak, tilting her head to get a better look at her newest customer. He didn't look particularly familiar; cute, but a stranger. He had on a way nicer jacket than her, though. It was actually something that could be defined as stylish. She was envious.
"You've heard of me, then? I'm not surprised, but it's still pretty gratifying. And if you REALLY want something that hasn't been tampered with, you can look at the display case right in front of me, here."
She paused to look at a flyer near her left hand, then looked up at him with a mischievous grin.
"We're having a special on Persian desserts right now. Why don't you get a small Persian love cake for your girlfriend? Or boyfriend, although guys usually prefer the hot chocolate pudding."

Karin didn't say anything for a moment, instead electing to stare at him like she didn't know who he was anymore. It was a while before she turned away and started walking in the direction of the parking lot, hands shoved into her pockets.
"Sorry. I'm sorry. You just reminded me of someone else. And I'm trying to help you be happy. Okay? I wanted to make up for what happened earlier. And besides, you're good business. You attract people. And when you're happier, more people want to be around you."

Karin’s eyes sparkled with good humor as she knocked on Ren’s dormitory door. Thank god, she thought, that they were right next to each other. Too many people seeing her like this would just be the humiliation of the century. Humming to herself, quietly and on tune, the little baker shifted from her right foot to her left, still not used to the pain being nearly gone. It had been so long since she’d been able to stand without discomfort or agony. A lack thereof was obviously disconcerting.
When Ren finally came to the door, raspberry-magenta hair mussed from tossing in her sleep, Karin cheerfully forced her way past her friend into her room, flopping down on the other girl’s bed.
"Alright. Where’s your mini-fridge and are you allergic to anything. We’re grabbing takeout and going on a damn picnic. If you’re going to dare me to do things we’re gonna do things the right way.”
"Kaaaariiiiin" she whined as she dropped her shoulders in defeat.
"You didn’t tell me you would look so adorable. This is so unfair!" But she smiled none the less, putting her hands on her hips as she nodded in reassurance. "Definitely worth my bet! Now I vote that you choose our lunch of the day, tinkerbell." This was so worth it.
Karin snorted in derisive amusement. “I always look cute. You should have seen this coming.”
She took a moment to adjust her cornflower blue gloves, smiling down at her outfit. “This has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever done, to be totally honest. But hey-” She twirled, grinning at the way the wire wings fluttered with the sudden burst of movement. They were beautiful, that much was certain. When you had incredible amounts of money and nothing much to spend it on, one tended to splurge on things that didn’t matter much. Oh well. She could always donate it to the renaissance festival or an elementary school later. Whatever.
"It’s worth it to see you practically in a puddle on the floor. Don’t fall in love yet. You’re treating lunch. I want sesame green beans and oyakodon from Kori no Daiyamondo’s. Put some clothes on - or not, I’m not picky - and let’s eat. Come on, why are you still asleep, it’s eleven a.m.!"
"Hhmph" she shrugged as she rolled off the bed to grab a clean set of clothes off the ground. “Sleeping is the most spiritually pure state I can be in! It’s a subconscious necessary meditation also I was watching star trek until 2 am but whatever.”
She grabbed her necessary clothing and made no bother with her hair, it’s not like it looked any different. Let’s see…coat, scarf, shoes, cat-wait that shouldn’t be here. Purses weren’t exactly convenient in her mind, convenient was thinking it was totally safe to walk around with a jar full of cash. She tucked her proceeds under her arm as she opened the door politely for the sparkly fairy of sarcasm.
"If they got pepper rice, I’m in!" She ran a finger along the edge of the opaque, sparkly wing as she smiled childishly, "So how many wishes do I get?"
Karin laughed at Ren's antics. "God, you're such a dork. I have a brilliant idea - let's get married to each other and then we never have to look nice ever again. We can literally walk around town in our pajamas with unbrushed hair. We never have to impress nerd boys ever again."
Swinging her arm grandly in the direction of the courtyard, the short girl stepped lightly back out into the hallway. "Star Trek, huh? I bet that's something Chiyo watches. I'll have to ask Kane to hack into his laptop and set up a Star Trek virus or something. He'd probably kill me but that's a price I'm willing to pay."
Her stomach growled, reminding her they had more important things to do. "Yeah, yeah, pepper rice. I don't know how you can eat that stuff, but to each her own. As long as you don't make me eat any, I'll give you two wishes."
