Raiden slowly approached Shinju's dorm door. He took a deep breath before knocking with one hand while the other carefully balanced a large wrapped present with a smaller wrapped one on top of it. He was nervous about Shinju's reaction to his being there after so long. After all, he had promised he'd always be there for her and then he disappeared without a word...
Shinju sat up from her bed as she heard the knocking at her door, wondering who could have been visiting around this time. Yvette had dropped off gifts, so had Kaida, and…well…she hadn’t been expecting anyone. She put her book aside and walked over to the door, rubbing as much tiredness from her eyes as she could before opening the door with a smile.
It took her a few seconds to really process who was standing there. For a brief moment, she wondered if her head was making things up again, or if Raiden was really, truly standing there. Once she decided that it was real, she suddenly lunged forward and very nearly tackled Raiden in a hug– probably the tightest bear hug of his life. Which is pretty impressive, given that he’s friends with Ren.
She couldn’t even find any words to say, for once. She just wanted to hug him.
Shinju nodded in response to his words. Of course she had to get him something…he was one of her closest friends…right? Even if he went away…right…? “Mhm…you hold it up to light and then when you go somewhere dark later it glows….um…” Her expression lightened a little when she saw him put the necklace on, And….a blanket fort…? That was a nice thought….
Shinju hugged him tightly back, burying her face in his shoulder again.
“I’m glad you like them–”
Raiden nodded slightly as Shinju explained. Then he got up and held the necklace up to one of Shinju’s light before sitting back down. He cupped his hands around the necklace and peered in,
“That’s really cool.”
He smiled and hugged Shinju back just as tight.
“Do you want me to head out so you can sleep? I know it’s late, I’m sorry I didn’t stop by sooner.”
