Takehiko stared at Addy’s body. It was the second friend he had lost here. He felt tears coming down his eyes but knew this wasn’t the time to get sad. He needed to investigate just like he had with Katsumi. He started by looking at Addy’s body, he felt nervous as he looked at her body. @danganronpadespairmadness

The body had some very obvious clues on it.

Her right hand was entirely covered with blood, and she was clutching some sort of leaf in her hand.

Takehiko was surprised by how little blood effected him anymore. So much horribleness had already happened and it seemed things weren’t getting better. He noted what he saw and then proceeded to look over the rest of the room, he noticed Hyun ( @shsl-crocker ) looking at a note and slowly went over. “Wh-what’s that you’ve got there Hyun?” He inquired nervously.

Super High School Ghost Powers (Starter for Ryu)

“Why am I like this?” Takehiko muttered to himself. “Why am I so weak? Why do I have to be this way?” Takehiko felt tears coming but tried to fight it. “No, I have to be strong. I’m all alone but I have to be strong.” Then Takehiko realized he wasn’t alone. He had the spirits with him. He clasped his hands and felt a strong ghostly presence. All of a sudden he felt more in control of his ghost talents than ever before. He felt not only Katsumi’s presence, but Akira, Artemis, and Kyoji’s presences too. “I’m not alone, I have all of the lost people on my side." But then he remembered the message Katsumi’s ghost had left him. About how dangerous contacting was. He stopped and let the spirits slip away. “I am alone. I have nothing, nothing except Math...” He sat there for a second and let out a big scream. “Dangit I hate Math!” Right as Ryu walked by.

Super Drawing (Open Starter)

Takehiko looked at the drawing of Katsumi and was amazed. He wanted to see if it was a fluke. He took another piece of paper and decided to check. He closed his eyes and once again he made a good looking drawing, this time of instead of a drawing he saw the word “Hello”. He looked at the paper and was surprised. “What in the world is this? Why are you contacting me like this Kastsumi?” Then he closed his eyes one more time and try and let the spirit take over one more time. “Draw out whatever you can share with me.” He closed his eyes, felt his hand fly. He looked at the piece of paper and saw the words “Beware! Spirit world dangerous! Stop contacting!” He looked and wondered, “Is this serious? Am I even talking to Katsumi?” But all he could do out loud was let out a loud, panicked scream

Contacting the Dead

Takehiko decided he needed to try contacting the ghost of Katsumi. Like before he clasped his hands together and tried contacting the spirit world but just like with Akira and Artemis it didn’t work immediately.

“Dammit, why has contacting the spirit world gotten so difficult? There’s so much interference for some reason.” He decided much like with contacting Akira he needed to grow closer. Thankfully Katsumi’s talent was far easier than to try and copy than Akira’s. Takehiko decided to go up to the new floor and sit on one of the couches and try drawing. He decided the best way to try and contact her was to try and draw Katsumi. With pencil and paper he gave his first attempt. He was never the artistic type, but he tried. Still his first attempt came out looking rather...unfortunate.

“Sorry Katsumi, it’s your talent not mine. Maybe you could talk to me and let me know where I went wrong.” He crumpled up the piece of paper and threw it away. Then a took out another piece closed his eyes and let his pencil touch the paper. He felt his hands begin moving almost as if they were being guided. He opened his eyes and looked at the piece of paper. This time what he saw before him was a near perfect line drawing of Katsumi.

“W-w-w-what just happened? Did I really do this? Or did you Katsumi? What is going on?” Takehiko shouted.

“I’m…not sure if contacting the dead is a. Good idea,” Ezra said uneasily, shivering at the thought of a real ghost among them. But it could be helpful…but also cursed. Maybe not.

“So. This isn’t yours?” In a way, Ezra was relieved Takehiko seemed as confused about the presence of a Ouija board as they were, but he was also frustrated they still didn’t have an answer for it. “Do you know where it. Would have come from?” Maybe it had actually come from the convenience store? He’d go check later, just in case.

“Oh gods and ghosts, it’s not mine,” Takehiko assured. “My Ouija Board is custom made, and has been stored carefully in my room. I actually haven’t used it since getting here. This one is a simple store bought one. It’s still capable of contacting ghosts, but the ghosts will probably be laughing at you for the shoddy quality.”

“But why in the world would it be in a place like this. Lifting weights and contacting the dead are two entirely different things. I can’t think of any reason why that would be there.”

Investigation: Missing Weight

Takehiko decided it best to look for the missing weight because that might be involved in the murder. Even though he didn’t want to doubt her since she’d been so nice, he decided Addy was the best person to ask about the missing weight. He went up to Addy and asked, “Hey Addy, there seems to be a missing weight over at the weight set, do you have any idea where it might have gone?”

Addy looked up when Takehiko approached, eyes taking a moment too long to focus on him. His question registered slowly, and she turned to look at the weight rack. Sure enough, there was definitely a gap on the rack. She struggled to remember the last time she’d come in the room to work out.

“No… Last time I was in here, they were all there. I think I used the last few to do bicep workouts.” She looked at Takehiko’s face, not wanting to go back to staring at the cold hand in her grasp. Something in the back of her mind seemed to nudge her. Wasn’t there something….?

Ah! She gently set Akiyama’s hand down on their chest, and turned to Takehiko, moving from sitting to being on her knees so she was more or less eye level. “Before you go… sorry to distract you from your investigation, but could I talk to you about something?” She really shouldn’t, but the combination of wanting to get away from the smell of iron and cold hands, as well as the feeling in the pit of her stomach made her more impulsive than usual.

Takehiko was dissappointed she didn’t know where the weights were but kind of assumed as much. Still the fact that it was still here before meant it was moved more recently.

He was a little hesitant to stay back since he was eager to find more clues but thought Addy might still have something useful to the trial. “Yes, Addy, what is it you need?”

Addy almost let it go, but she did really want to know. She wondered for a moment if she should ask to talk somewhere private, but decided against it. That would take too long, and everyone was already on edge. Besides, it couldn’t be too bad, could it?

“It’s just- My secret. I think you have it? I… don’t remember anything that’s happened to me that’s bad enough as to warrant being a secret, so I wasn’t sure if I should bother you about it, but. I want to know.” She looked at him in question.

I-I haven’t told anyone your secret, I p-p-p-p-promise.” Takehiko then nervously pulled out his notebook and opened monokuma messenger and showed it to Addy making carefully sure that no one else could see it (I will send it in a message)

Addy laughed, a bit strained, at Takehiko’s stuttered reassurances. She had scared him again. “No, no, thank you, but it would have been fine if you had. I’m sure it’s not that big a-” Her sentence stalled as the words on the screen filtered through to her mind. “…deal.” She finished, eyebrows furrowed. Then, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her own device. She checked the message again. It really did say Takehiko was the recipient. She shook her head, a disbelieving smile on her face.

“No, there must be some kind of error or something? That’s not- that can’t be my secret. There must be a mix up. I wouldn’t- I’d remember! I’d remember, wouldn’t I?” The smile faltered, and then dropped entirely. “Wouldn’t I?”

She sat back on her heels still shaking her head, reeling from the implications. “That can’t be- that’s not true. It can’t be true. I’d know- I would-” She looked at her shaking hands, and for a moment felt something under them, like holding a hand bigger than hers. It was freezing, just like Akiyama’s. Just like Akira’s.

The sensation vanished, but she started rubbing her hands off on her pants regardless, frantic. After a moment, she looked back up at Takehiko. “I’m- Please, don’t show anyone that after all. I don’t know- I can’t remember, I can’t know-” She broke off again, unable to explain that she wouldn’t be able to explain herself to anyone, not even herself. “Just- just, please?”

“Y-yeah, no I won’t tell anyone I promise.” Takehiko blurted out before quickly leaving. He gathered his breath and starting talking to himself. “Oh my god, I have the giants secret. But she won’t hurt me...will she?” Takehiko paused for a second and then reassured himself. “No, she’s kind, she won’t hurt me. And there’s more pressing matters at hand. Like finding Katsumi’s killer.”

“That’s a piece of wood.” Shujin responded, walking over and blinking at it, “A… piece of wood with letters on it.”

The font, the curve of the letters looked familiar to him… “I think it might be part of a Ouija board… You know - The things people summons ghosts with in awful horror films? You should probably put it down. They’re pretty dangerous. It’s a general consensus that you leave yourself open to possession and bad spirits by even touching one.”

He wondered who would even have a Ouija board - where could they even find one here? This was odd…

Rinko looked over, still a bit stunned. “Huh? Uh -” She walked over to Ezra, looking at the piece before her eyes widened. “Is that - oh, my god, I think -” Rinko looked up at Ezra before looking back at the piece.“Th-That’s from a Ouija board… Where did you find that?”

Ezra immediately dropped the board piece as soon as Shujin said “dangerous,” but quickly scrabbled to pick it back up and at least set it down on top of the weights rack. He wasn’t…too superstitious, but both Shujin and Rinko had reacted badly to whatever it was-a…weegee board?-so he figured it was better safe than sorry.

“Um. I found it in. There,” He said in response to Rinko’s question, pointing at the empty space in the weights. “One. Weight is. Missing, I think? But this was there instead.” The more he learned about it, the more suspicious it seemed, but Ezra couldn’t figure out how it possibly related to anything. Ghosts? Possession? Who would ever want to own one of these?

“Did this. Belong to Katsumi?” He questioned aloud, glancing at said figure to make sure the body was still mostly undisturbed before turning his attention back to Shujin and Rinko. “Where did it. Come from?”

Haruki’d caught part of the conversation and couldn’t help but move closer. A… ouija board piece? That had been there where the missing weight was? He wheeled to Ezra’s side, leaning down to pick up the piece.

“Yeah… this is definitely a Ouija board fragment,” he confirmed, rolling it between his fingers. “But… I don’t think it’d be Akiyama’s.” Haruki gritted his teeth, humming under his breath.

“There’s only one person here who has an affinity to ghosts. That’d be Nakata.” He glanced back over his shoulder, thyen to Ezra, then to the others. “And…” Haruki pulled out his Ehandbook, flipping through a few screens until Takehiko’s student profile showed. Haruki zoomed in until the ‘Likes’ portion of the page was highlighted. The words “Ouija boards” were clearly printed in the space below.

“This… definitely has some ties to Nakata. I’m sure. But whether it’s being used to frame him or a diversion or is actual evidence…” He shook his head.

Hyun turned when Haruki wheeled up, flashing him a grin. She leaned down and whispered to him. “Meet me outside. I’ll tell you what I’ve got so far.” Before stretching back out. She snapped her fingers at Haruki’s words. “Ouija boards! My grandfather was pretty superstitious, so I’ve never actually seen one in person. Why is it here?” Her eyes widened, looking over Haruki’s shoulder. “No way.” She shook her head. “Katsumi and Takehiko were friends. I’m not gonna think like that till the trial.” She looked at the other four, pursing her lips. “… Could they have gotten it from the school store?” @shslcartographxr @headofreservecoursecouncil @gameshowfever @un-luckster

Suddenly there were a lot more people around him than Ezra had expected, and he almost regretted speaking up, except he didn’t, because he knew they needed all the knowledge they could get to find who ki-who…did this. Still, he instinctively made himself smaller, looking down at the image of Takehiko on Haruki’s e-handbook screen.

Takehiko…the mathematician. Ezra hadn’t talked to him yet, but he seemed nice enough. He and Katsumi were friends, weren’t they? But…if he was the only one with a connection to Ouija boards, then he had some connection to this murder, at least.

“I don’t. Think it’s from the school store, but…we could check?” He didn’t remember seeing anything like this when he and Shujin had been down there, but then again, they had been pretty freaked out. “But. Shouldn’t we. Ask Takehiko about it? Maybe he’d. Know?” He looked around for the other student and gave a weak wave, hoping he’d come over even though they hadn’t interacted much.

Takehiko noticed someone he hadn’t talked to before waving at him. He was a little confused at first but decided it was best to check out because it could be a clue. Takehiko recognized them as the SHSL Cartographer, but was pretty sure they hadn’t been introduced before. “Hello?” Takehiko cautiously greeted as he approached.

“Um. Hello.” Ezra returned the awkward greeting, suddenly feeling like this had been a mistake. What if he thought they were suspecting him? What if he got angry? Well. Too late now.

“I. Know we haven’t met, but. I found this,” He gestured to the piece of the Ouija board, “And apparently it’s from a. Weegee board, or something?” He stumbled over the unfamiliar word, avoiding Takehiko’s gaze in embarrassment. “Which. Has something to do with ghosts. And you. Like ghosts right?” All of this information was secondhand, so Ezra had no clue how correct he was on any of this. But he trusted Haruki. The other boy wouldn’t have thought Takehiko would know about this for no reason.

“Anyways! The point is. Do you. Know where this came from? Because it was. Here,” Ezra finished by moving aside to show Takehiko the little space in between the weights where the board piece had been, and hoped he’d be able to shed some light on it. Or at the very least, tell them if it was really cursed or not.

“Oh, and. I’m Ezra.” He added, realizing he’d never actually introduced himself. It wasn’t exactly nice to meet him, at least not in these circumstances, so Ezra left that part out. It’d be too weird.
