𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒔   𝒑𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅   across   the   wooden   panels   of   their   small   home   as   the   older   of   the   two   girls   went   back   and   forth   between   the   living   room   and   their   bedroom,   completely   ignoring   her   big   brother   every   time   she   passed   by   him.   each   venture   came   with   a   mischievous   giggle   and   a   random   loot   that   disappeared   into   their   cave   of   a   room:   a   pair   of   pink   safety   scissors,   a   ruler,   a   thick   marker,   and   a   purple   crayon.

and   then   suddenly   …   the   footsteps   stopped.   twenty   minutes   had   passed   since   the   brunette   went   out   again.   for   a   couple   of   moments,   the   door   hid   behind   a   pair   of   giggles   that   were   audible   yet   hushed   until   silence   soon   followed.   a   few   minutes   more   would   pass   before   the   door   opened   with   a   creak,   spitting   out   the   ten-year-old   before   it   was   slammed   shut   once   more.   a   toothy   grin   upturned   either   corner   of   her   lips   as   she   finally   paced   toward   the   older. ❛

 heh,   thought   we   forgot   about   you,   didn’t   you?   come   on,   follow   me.   ❜   taking   their   hand,   she   led   them   toward   the   room,   gently   pushing   open   the   wooden   panel   and   finally   revealing   their   surprise:   their   little   fast   food   treat   for   tomo,   crudely   fashioned   from   play   dough.

on   top   of   their   shared   girls’   table   was   a   myriad   of   colors   in   the   form   of   three   burgers,   a   box   of   fries,   a   swirly   ice   cream   cone,   and   a   brownie   with   the   purple   crayon   on   top.   in   the   middle   of   it   all   sat   a   small   piece   of   paper   with   the   words   – Happy   Parent   Day   –   scribbled   on   it.   while   their   room   was   an   entire   chaotic   mess   from   their   preparation,   at   least   their   presentation   was   neat.

chihiro   sat   herself   beside   tama   across   the   table,   allowing   the   blonde   to   take   the   space   in   front   of   them. ❛ since   you   technically   raised   us   both,   here’s   our   treat   for   you   on   this   special   day!   ❜   another   smile   flashed   on   chihiro’s   pudgy   features   as   she   presented   their   gift.   while   they   had   certainly   improved   from   drawings   into   something   a   little   more   tangible,   perhaps   the   real,   edible   meal   from   her   own   pockets   would   come   someday.

musical laugh lilts through the air , carrying aang's joy on the warm breeze used to dry appa's fur. though bathing a sky bison is no easy feat , drying one is something else entirely —-- practically impossible without the use of anemo ! then he sees it , the tell-tale sign : appa's ear twitches. ❝ appa ! no ! wait ! there's someone else —--❞ aang's too late. appa shakes , sending water and fur flying as the avatar sighs heavily. ❝ --— .... here. ❞

━━ Contrary to popular belief, the life of a wanderer is far from the perfect poetic narrative displayed in the most acclaimed textbooks. For example; there are times when one is forced to face the most devious thieves to reach their destination, others where the lack of a nearby civilization leaves you rationing supplies for weeks, and in some very unlikely but certainly probable instances ━ a very unsuspecting ronin gets to be attacked by nothing more than. . . a thick layer of fur ?

Well, that certainly was a new one.

❝ What the ━━ ❞ It all happened in one quick flash that Tomoya's not given any time to properly react. Sudden, wild and messy, in just a matter of seconds they were draped in damp animal fur with a lingering scent of mud and grass. And if that wasn't bad enough, they had left their mouth open when it happened, so as consequence, they had gotten a handful chunk on their mouth, yikes. After a quick race of coughs and shakes they are able to get a few of it off and to finally notice the two culprits standing right in front of them. ❝ Don't you dare laugh, kid. ❞

There's a discontent frown thrown Aang's way. No punch, curse nor huff, only a frown. Accident or not, there's no denying that this would delay their trip for another day, not to mention the wet supplies, clothes and hair they had to deal with. But in reality, that wasn't the biggest problem taking the number one spot in their mind. No, what truly concerned the blonde was no other than their own partner, a small white coated feline friend, getting herself dirty a day after she had received her own bath. Ironic, isn't it ? One animals gets clean on the cost of the other. ❝ Look at her ! She's dirty again ! Do you know how hard it is to bath a cat ? ❞ As hard as bathing a bison perhaps ? ❝ She hates it ! Reading through a few lines is enough to deduce that the author wrote this through the lenses of their own experiences, a 'farewell' letter to a life they used to know. Kazuha's right, this writer has a way with words, versed on the poetic interpretation of their memories, nevertheless, it gives a generally discouraging view of life's many obstacles. ❝ Grief and mourn are two topics they seem to excel at. ❞ The death of someone dear and the emptiness they leave behind. . . where have they seen that before ? ❝ At one point it gets tiresome. It seems that the author forgot what living truly is about. Then again, this looks like something you out of all people would enjoy. ❞

    “   what   ?   ”   amused,   kaeya   cannot   find   himself   to   lie   to   the   other.   even   more   so,   it   seemed   like   the   other   always   𝐒𝐀𝐖   𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇   𝐇𝐈𝐌.   to   say   that   they   knew   that   kaeya   had   shirked   off   responsibilities   would   be   TRUE.

━━ Kaeya's insufferable, always so unpredictable, and against better judgment, Tomoya liked him that way. Even now, with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms, it’s no exception, Tomoya still likes him, regardless of what their look might suggest. ❝ Kaeya. ❞ A knowing tone embedded in just one word. That overconfident facade and mischievous smirk of his were a mask too thin. If anyone out here could see right through the performance it would be them. Although no servant is in position to question their master's choices, the familiarity the two shared gave this humble confidant a chance to do so. It's for his own good, after all. ❝ Surely, your assigned commissions will be just as entertaining, cavalry captain. ❞

Amethyst hues roll with indifference, their composure still unyielding despite the offer. The other's charm wouldn't work this time nor the countless excuses, or so the knight had foolishly thought. Because when words fell short, Kaeya acted and when he did, Tomoya couldn't really do more than watch their stand fall apart.

There's a momentary pause where they lose their breath, the sudden touch catching them out off guard. The blond freezes in place as their eyes briefly meet his before their gaze shifts to the side. Then the cherry on top, the question, the kind they would rather leave unqueried for a while.

But of course, Kaeya wouldn't take their silence for an answer.

❝ If one side doesn't remember then it never happened. ❞ Tomoya doesn't have the heart to pull away, no, they actively wait for the other to drop their wrist for them to adjust themselves. ❝ Stop changing the topic. ❞ Two of their digits ( of the same wrist he held ) comes to pinch the bridge of their nose. ❝ If you're going to take a day off, the least you could do is give me a break as well from all your antics. ❞

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞'𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 as she waltzed up the docks, parasol in hand as she was followed by her guards. Thankfully, she had been given the approval from the Iudex himself to greet the crew from Liyue, though she hadn't been given the full details other than the Spina was allowed to greet and escort the members to the Palais Mermonia.

With her usual flourish, the approached the ship and tucked her parasol away, a hand coming to cover her eyes as she looked up at the sails of the boat. "Wow, this ship is huge!" She remarked, then turning to the nearest crew member she made eye contact with and offered a gloved hand in greeting, "Welcome to Fontaine! I'm the President of the Spina de Rosula, your crew's honored chaperone and guide for the evening!"

━━ Tagging along with the Crux had always been just another ordinary trip in their book, something they did now and then for a free ride. A mutual agreement between captain and an honorary sailor, an exchange of services if you will. So for a couple of weeks they were part of the crew, no different from the rest ( for the most part ). At every stop they make, Tomoya joins in, and with every commission they take, this ronin lends a hand. The next journey to the land of justice, the so acclaimed Fontaine, would not be the exception.

Everything goes as planned on their arrival. With a safe landing and a welcoming committee at the docks. Tomoya is the first ( besides Beidou ) to go down and explore the new surroundings, carrying a box of supplies on one arm and a bag with their belongings on the other. The view is phenomenal and the salty sea breeze from the coast lingers on their tongue. Eyes in awe enjoy a nation all so new to them, its gleaming architecture and lively streets being unlike anything they’ve seen before. But in the process, their eyes lock with those of a peculiar stranger and as consequence, the ronin is dragged as the sudden representative of THE ALCOR.

❝ Oh ━ It's a pleasure. ❞ They set the wooden box down, allowing for the handshake her culture favors so much over their customary kneel. After Tomoya, a few of the other members unload the respective packages, waving at her whenever they pass them by. ❝ It seems that we will take a while to unpack though. Sadly, our captain has already left for a meeting but she sends her regards, miss. . . president ? ❞

━━ Sakura trees stood at the height of its bloom at this time of the year. A gift nature provided to the land of eternity and it's people. Beyond marking the turn of seasons, it's a timeless emblem that continues to shape the nation’s spirit. Many customs and traditions revolve around it, many of which spark their interest, with sightseeing being their favorite. Perhaps that's why they have found themselves back to the beginning, to their homeland.

After days of endless sailing, with the waves humming melodies beside them, Tomo had at last reached their destination. A wave of nostalgia strikes them upon their arrival. Familiar landscapes soothe their heart, as drifting petals in the wind carry whispers that welcome them back.

They stay at the ship for a moment, enjoying the mesmerizing view unfolding before their eyes while others disembark. Elbows rest against the wooden railing, the kiseru coming in handy for a break. They stay that way for some time, the thin wisp of smoke lingering around their figure... as well as a certain someone's gaze.

━━ Rarely are they ever sent to clean the stage after a play. When one of Elio's script ends, the curtains fall and what remains is left for the public to decide. It had been that way back at Herta's Space Station, Jarilo-VI, and even at the Luofu. Yet when it had come to Penacony, Tomoya had the pleasure to receive a script of their own. Short, collateral to the main plot, but important nonetheless. Elio would never send anyone just for the sake of it so when there's a reason, there's a mission.

The curtains open once again and on the stage stands Paperfold's new ( temporary ) professor ; Tomoya, performing arts combat specialist. Let's welcome them with a big round of applause !

Having their identity unknown as a Stellaron Hunter came with certain advantages, ones the script skillfully wove into the narrative. Their ability to blend in and adapt to any role, such as that of a professor, was among the most valuable. And on this occasion they had to play along. If that's what's going to take to find that memokeeper, then so be it. Shouldn't be too hard to find the memory Elio so desperately wants.

That's how they ended up here. After the rigorous acceptance came the guided tour, a welcoming ceremony and an eventual class to give. They walked by the halls without much except a few books and a katana at hand, the perfect "prop" for their class or so they had said. When someone greeted them, they did as well and when a student asked, they answered in like manner. Everything went on smoothly, or at least it had been until their eyes met.

@reversescale doesn't know them but the ronin knows him rather well. Dan Heng, one of the renamed members of the Astral Express. What they know relies on the information Elio had given, as well as the countless short mentions from Blade's part. The possibility of this meeting was improbable yet not impossible. They had been warned beforehand though it wasn't one of their main concerns. As long as they kept playing their role they will manage.

Continuing their walk like nothing, nodding as a quick salute before getting to their next class. This fleeting encounter shall not interfere on the original plan
