Overdue apologies
You were only trying to eat, only trying to find a new place to rest
Your buzzing was too loud for me, even though you’re so small
I’m sorry the stories I’ve heard about you instilled some fear in me I cannot shake.
I duck and cover with childish hands swatting at empty air, there is something in me
It keeps me alive, it’s much like yours, an animal instinct spurring me forward
Lord, I’m sorry I’m so afraid of you
