Can we talk about how RIDICULOUS Shikadai's first Chunin mission was?

Wasabi and Iwabe were acting like two children; even Boruto and Sarada didn't fight that much.

They wanted to blame Shikadai's leadership, but there was no leadership after all; NO ONE besides Boruto stopped to listen to him before simply acting in the most idiotic way possible.

Moegi said she chose random Gennins for Shikadai to lead, for him to get used to and understand that he won't always be on missions with just friends. (Even though she included Boruto, it almost seems like he was there as an emotional support animal.) Yes, Shikadai has a certain level of cognitive rigidity, from what I could observe. But he literally spent over a week leading Chocho, Inojin, Boruto, and Sarada on the mission to rescue Mitsuki. Wasn't that enough to prove he was indeed capable???? Shikadai himself has already said how important it is to trust his friends and has proven that he is capable of taking advantage of each one's different abilities; all that was needed was for Wasabi and Iwabe to respect his leadership

If Wasabi and Iwabe had listened and not acted like children, Shikadai would have had the plan under control, and they wouldn't have lost the pig. And then, Wasabi and Iwabe were still angry that Shikadai had hidden his injury and hadn't told them! It was their fault!

I'm not saying Shikadai is completely innocent, because as I said, he has a certain level of cognitive rigidity, and he can be quite stubborn. He does make rash decisions. It's expected that he wouldn't perform perfectly in his first mission as a Chunin, of course, but this episode really had to stretch things a LOT for the characters to be so stupid, Just to say that Shikadai still has a lot to learn.

I love Boruto, but some episodes are really forced.

SHIKADAI-INOJIN-CHOUCHOU HEADCANON

•At the end of Boruto, the inoshikacho disband

•Chouchou gets hurt badly where she can't use her jutsu anymore. So she becomes skinny again. Chouchou becomes a model.

•Shikadai is badly injured in the face, having scars on his face and his whole body. He can't walk very well, but he's stubborn, so he doesn't ask for help. He becomes a politician.

•Inojin can use his jutsu and paint. Since Shikadai and Chouchou can't fight anymore, he retires with them. What's the inoshikacho without the shikacho. Inojin works as a sensei.

•Moegi gets set free, and she feels guilt for not protecting her students.

•Temari, Shikamaru, Ino, Sai, Choji, and Karui are very proud of their kids for fighting with all they had.

I've actually cried while looking at details of this fanart. No words, just sincere admiration for your way of conveying gentle love through colour and form.

i love that in martherson's "when will my (almost but not really) lover come back from the war?" moment, it's the woman who's the soldier in the scenario and she's the opposite of the girlboss character type. that martha is a girl like any other with no rare talents, OP abilities, or grandiose ambitions. having those qualities don't take away from a character at all, but i feel like martha being the way she is makes this story feel both very intimate and very encompassing? because as much as this is martha's story, it also could be the story of another girl trapped in a war she did not choose, who's separated from her old life and all the things that made her happy, who's coming to terms with humanity in a way she could never otherwise imagine. martherson's story hurts because we know them and love them, but it's especially heartbreaking to think of how many other people's lives were crushed in this way because of war. and from a writing standpoint, it's amazing how telling a story of one can feel like you're telling the stories of millions

I completely agree. It's amazing how neither Martha, nor (let's be honest) Yor are tough emotionless warriors. They're kindhearted women, whose lives were shattered by the state of the world around them, so they had to pick themselves by pieces and arrange their form in such way, so no one can hurt them or the things they cherish.

Also it's amazingly portrayed by Endo-sensei, how art is being forgotten in war: Martha's unique skill is ballet, but it's completely discarded and turned into physical ability to fight. It made me thinking how in SxF present time some of the characters might have "changed" talents - Yor's agility as a talent for dance as well? Loid's deduction as a talent for teaching/training? (yes, like Henry) (we know he successfully trained Fiona) Franky's creativity and networking skills as a talent for entrepreneurship?

So yeah, what do you have in store for us, Endo-sensei?

chapter 100 is short, but loud

spy x family spoilers ahead

short summary: martha and her female comrades were put out on first lines. they're going down, martha is covered by heavy smoke that BlackBell Ind. artillery produces while shooting, so westalis soldiers doesn't see her. it seems that they were a strategic move to distract an enemy. they retreat in frenzy, martha is bleeding and tired. while escaping westalis soldiers, martha shoots and slips down in river, losing her consciousness. she's awake at westalis' side, a dog found her. dog's owner - mrs. anabel, cures some of martha's wounds, feeds her, gives her late daughers clothes (who it seems was a medic) to wear. she tells martha to hide and leave, so young girl does just that. while crawling in search of ostania' s side, martha finds a map and hand-knitted scarf in her pack. mrs. anabell received only a leg of what was left of her daughter, but she sent off someone else's child safely.

I was honestly afraid, that we'll receive some kind of funny chapter with Anya's antics as a 100 chapter. as much as I love Anya, doing something like this in the middle of PAST-arc is very anticlimactic.

I feel that ch. 100 would be much longer, If Endo-sensei could (or wanted to) write more about what happens on other side of war. how not everyone want to play an "agressor" part, how there's fathers, mothers and kids on all sides of battlefield, how hard is to stay human while living in literal hell of war. But I want to thank him for what we have. He's an amazing writer, so we can only imagine how this practice will help him in making of Spy x Family finale.

interesting details: BlackBell Ind. maschinery is already on battlefield, and it works a bit bad - they produce to much smoke, which they shouldn't do; in a moment of weakness Martha internally calls for her parents and Henry; mrs. Anabel is living alone, but her family seems to have strong connections to military - there's photo of her daughter in uniform similar to W2 red cross, there's an unnamed man in marine uniform; mrs. anabell seems to be sick, she has scars and marks on her face, but she also has big medical knowledge - she healed Martha's wounds on her own; the doggo - Baron - is well fed and happy to have new company; Endo doesn't tell us how much time Martha spent on westalis' side - there's only a hint that battlefield frenzy happened "a few month before" Henry heard of Combat Battalion's wipe-out.

this frame of Martha is my favourite in this whole arc.

Shikadai: I worry about Himawari, she has it rough. ChoCho: Yes, she even have to live in her parents house with Kawaki, it must be so haunting to be here without her parents... Shikadai: At least her aunt could've moved in with them... Inojin: I've heard from my dad that Uzumaki-san lived in his parents' flat alone through his whole childhood and teenage years. It seems... this is how orphans are treated in our village. Team10: ......... we have a sister now.

It really says something about me that the first thing i did yesterday after getting out the most important exam of my life (german philology) (i passed!) i went straight to the only place in the whole building that has good connection and read the new boruto chapter? and felt COMPLETELY unsatisfied, so I went straight home and slept for 20 hours
