Right, sweetheart, here's what's gonna happen, alright? You, you're gonna turn around, you're gonna put that fucking music back on, okay? You're gonna pick a slow number, alright, then you and me... we're gonna waltz around this dance floor like Fred Astaire and Ginger fuckin' Rogers. Do you like to dance? I asked you a question. Do you wanna dance with me, sweetheart?

Probably one of the most infuriating things about AI recruitment is that itâs being used in the opposite way of its original intention.
The purpose of using AI to filter resumes was for the AI to calculate dozens of variables across hundreds of CVs to find the best candidates. It didnât matter if your resume didnât match 100%, because the AI would weigh the most important skills for the position, identify which ones could be learned on the job, and even look for other relevant positions for your profile if possible. This allowed companies to list dozens of requirements under the assumption that you wouldnât be able to fulfill them all.
But instead, itâs being used to scan thousands of resumes and deny anyone who doesnât meet 100% of the requirements in a psychotic way. The original idea of intelligent filters was almost utopian:
1. An AI that understands nuance, that knows someone with 70% of the requirements but experience in similar environments might actually be better than someone with 100% on paper.
2. That it can detect skill transferability (e.g., someone who knows Python can quickly learn R; someone who worked with clients can adapt to technical sales).
3. That it optimizes the humanâjob fit by mapping strengths to various openings, instead of simply discarding people.
BUT NOOOO.
They only use it to look for keywords in the resume, and if theyâre not there, filtered out.

currently reading Ted Kravitzâs book F1 Insider: Notes from the Pit Lane and about two-thirds of the way through was getting a bit confused and upset at why he wasnât really mentioning seb at all, even when detailing his championship winning years.
only to turn a page and be greeted by Chapter 16, simply titled âSebastianâ and entirely dedicated to his career and social justice projects. it is wonderfully sweet
I'm so proud of you, chicken
