THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) + letterboxd reviews (insp.)

Riding the One-Eyed Ford, ‘Booze ‘N’ Loozing Blues,’ Diane Burns
[ID: it’s 4 a.m. / and it’s August / And I can’t sleep / I hate everyone who is sleeping]
me: I have a really diverse music taste me: *listens to the same song on repeat for three weeks*
not to be silly and random but when ppl post things i don’t like on tumblr dot com. i just unfollow them
i may be annoying but at least ive never anon’d a single person on this website to yell at them for liking something i don’t or to send a letter of resignation before i unfollow
One time my rabbi told us, “imagine you had a box with a little bit of god in it. What would you do with the box?”
So we were like ?? “We’d protect it and keep it nice and clean and polished” and he was like “your body’s that box. Stop eating markers”
Every time I come across this post the last sentence smacks me in the face
you're white and you work at starbucks? i bet you love cold brew don't you
this ask makes me feel like a beast in a zoo having my biology facts read to a crowd of spectators i do. but how do you know this
i don’t know which grimdark hollywood man needs to hear this, but seeing a major plot point coming but still being blown away/absolutely devastated by it because it’s well written and ties the whole narrative together is 1000909900X more satisfying for your audience than a nonsensical plot twist pulled from your unwashed ass for shock value
Saving the tags from @nightingalerising because they're PERFECT
It's like... you see it coming, from miles away. The inevitably is absolutely crushing, stifling. Yet you still hope thag maybe, somehow, it'll end up different
Kinda off-topic, but see also: Titanic. One of the biggest and long lasting “criticisms” I’ve heard against that movie is that there was no point to it being made. You go into the movie knowing that the boat is going to sink. Hell, it was expected to be a total flop while it was still in production, because where’s the tension in a movie about the Titanic? And I could go on an entire rant here about how that criticism is baseless because the movie is about the characters and not the fucking boat. But a big part of the reason why this movie still works, why we still watch it 24 years later, why we care so much about the characters is because we already know they’re on a doomed voyage. We know the boat is going to sink, we have information that they do not, but we’ve come to care about them over the course of an hour and a half. So when the iceberg finally makes its entrance, we know what’s going to happen, but we hope that maybe this time the boat will turn.
And then there is knives out, where you KNOW who the killer is in the first 20 minutes but the story is a PERFECT puzzle of suspense and intrigue. Because who killed him doesn't matter, the characters matter
life is hard for this dog
how do i explain plato’s allegory of the cave to a dog
WHAT is the point if you are not weird and eccentric and wear clothes that are a bit too big and dumb
