Ladies and gentlefolk, yesterday I finished the first and hopefully only massive round of edits for the last book in The Black Throne trilogy, Let the Darkness Burn. I say massive for two reasons.

1. It took 2.5 months to get through the edits, which is not my usual turnaround for a single round

2. I added 40k words to the manuscript and met my goal wordcount. I wanted LtDB to be right in between the prior books, so it's sitting at 170k.

As I hop into the next round of edits, I'll be doing a few things at the same time. I would like to start collecting arc readers and continue revamping books one and two. My goal is, by the time I'm done editing, the prior books will also be done and I can send everything out to arc readers. What's my timeliness, you may be wondering? As quickly (and efficiently, obviously) as I can get it done.

One thing I also loved including for the immortal characters in my book were signs of aging. Immortality is loosely defined as the inability to die naturally (in this universe), not that it also completely inhibits the body from changing. Barbus is a happy guy, he smiles a lot, so of course he's going to have crows feet.

You know, I would say, "Lucas is such a great character to kick off pride month!" BUT... like none of my (main) characters are hetero or cis........ Anyway! I plan to do a little "meet the characters" thing with all the headshots I've drawn, so look forward to that 😃

Arc Review

Before and After I stop letting "The opening sentence of your book is the most important, it's the hook." influence my writing.

That may work for some. It didnt for me, and I believed it instead of going off my own tastes as a reader, and what I wanted as a writer. Now I realize and know, the first page is the hook, if not the whole first chapter, or at the very least, the first paragragh.
