When the moon rose, the palace opened.

No one had taught them this. No one had needed to. It was the kind of knowledge that precedes language, that lives in the body before the mind has learned to doubt it. In moonlight, the hidden things found their edges. The feelings that had no names in the ordinary hours of daylight took on form and weight when the dark came in. That was the B-side. Not shadow, but a second truth that grew more vivid precisely where the light could not reach.

And then, at some point she could never quite locate, it began to close.

The overlap shortened. The palace, which had once been as reliable as the tide, started arriving later and staying less. The two worlds, which had moved through each other so naturally, so inevitably, like two transparencies held up to the same window, began to separate. And one morning she woke to find that only one world remained. Explicable. Predictable. Quiet in all the wrong ways.

She called it growing up.

It was, in retrospect, the most elegant lie she ever told herself.

The palace had not disappeared.

The moon was still there. The strange world still turned on its own silent axis. The luminous instant in which two realities converged and made something neither could make alone, that too persisted, patient and unchanged, at the threshold she no longer visited.

She had simply forgotten how to close her eyes. How to wake the senses. How to want something badly enough that the impossible felt obliged to accommodate her.

What she had lost was not the world.

It was the self that had known how to see it.

goddamnit billlie describes childhood and growing up so well. This whole passage is saying that as we age we convince ourselves that that childlike wonder we once had is gone and that we have to stay in our one-track, gray, boring lives. The a-side. But the wonder and the fun and the color is not gone. We only think it's gone because we and the people around us have convinced ourselves that we can't access it anymore. But we can.

Oh my god that's probably why the members hallucinated an entire "Billie love missing/dying" scenario! The death of "Billie's love" is something they all believed so deeply that it became reality.

Think of how we've seen the b-side too: It's a pretty childish world! The pizza parlor/Chucky-Cheese esque party room in GingaMingaYo, THE PLAYGROUND, Tsuki drawing pictures, the adventures with the snowy man. It's almost like the b-side is meant to represent the trapped or oft reminisced upon memories of the Billlie gang, because that's how they experience it probably. Fun is just a memory. Childhood wonder is a just a memory. They've kept convincing themselves that they need to pull themselves out of it, that they have to "kill Billie's love".

Almost half of this album is remixes and re-releases of other Billlie songs. Bruh why don't the writers at Mystic just have some dignity as artists and make a 7-song album with 7 new original songs instead of padding it to be 12 tracks, 3 of them remixes and 2 of them re-releases? Happy we're getting some food in the Belllieve fandom but like.... ugh....

yeah i just generally will more readily accept a story with no male characters than one where the male characters add nothing and are shoe-horned in or they serve no narrative purpose. like why do men have to be included in stories at all, it just seems unrealistic to expect to see men in everything

false awakening is a great name for the latest Billlie comeback cause Mystic made no fucking promotions or real advertising whatsoever for the group that they've effectively nugu'd back into small company no budget kpop hell; gave us one song with like 5 remixes and then dipped; again with no promotions whatsoever. "False awakening" as in making the fandom think they're gonna see Billlie be a real kpop group again but then it's immediately back to watching one or two members getting gigs here and there while the others go on coffee dates.
