Please welcome my new little girl, Cloud, to our furbaby family. I saw her when going to get rat food and she was so gorgeous, I couldn't resist. She is a huge character and has met my other two girls. Minimal squabbling unless she sneaks into their cage when I'm not looking!! When your rat decides to emulate Jaws from James Bond and scare the living heck out of you. I honestly thought she had lost all her teeth. I was in a state of panic all Friday. Took her to the vet on Saturday and she and Latte are now infamous!!! Thankfully whatever it is has been successfully removed and there are no ill effects. Coco went back to be checked today and the vet is hugely pleased. She's bright and bouncy and her teeth and mouth are fine. I have antibiotics still. I'm so freaking relieved that she's okay. The thought of losing her was too much to bear right now to be honest. She's being shared on their FB page as weird and interesting cases over Christmas (ha). I managed to get the first cuddles with my baby girl through all this as I comforted her after. She curled up with me and was gorgeously cuddly. So in every bad situation there is some good. She is a lot better at being picked up as well now she knows I'm just looking out for her. The vet was so complimentary about how healthy and well she looks as well. Apparently the nurse fell in love with my lil Latte on Saturday. Who wouldn't right?! I love my babies so much. Shoutout to everyone who doesn’t know which side effect comes from which med. Shoutout to all my ppl who can’t even remember which ones are symptoms and which ones are side effects. Shoutout to everyone who struggles with getting complete or accurate diagnoses because separating out the stew of your illness is impossible. You’re all strong and awesome and I love you.

I have this all the time and I never knew it was a fibro thing, until just recently when I started getting screened for fibro. I always thought it was just a strange, fluke symptom of mine. Damn, the more you know.

My mum tried this with me. And then she researched. Now she’s all “do you think you might want to try ... to manage your pain better”.

I’ll take that - she’s the reason I know I’m coeliac. She’s showing me articles all the time and understanding better.

I think part of your Mum’s problem is she doesn’t know how to face it as well. Part of her hopes it’ll magically go. She’s trying not to realise you have something she can’t fix and no one can fix. I’m not saying she’s right, I’m just offering you another view as to why she might be acting that way and trying to justify it.

Maybe if she read up on your illness a bit - if you have sneakily placed articles or information around that she can look at (without feeling like you’re forcing her to) she can see that it unfortunately won’t just go away and she will have to face it head on, just like you have to every darn day of your life.

Maybe it won’t help, maybe she needs pushing in other ways, but I know from experience how damn hurtful it is for mothers (or any family members) to act that way.

Just to add context, I’m 5ft5, the bin comes up to my thigh. It was rammed full (my bad) and I couldn’t get it out with just trying to yank the bag with my hands. I was lamenting that the dog didn’t have opposable thumbs to help me, so used my leg to steady the bin whilst I yanked again with both hands. Success!

Thank goodness nothing dislocated/subluxed or my balance gave way - could have been a whole ‘nother story then!!
