A strange wall in Rugby
No ball games. It’s a boring patch of nothing overlooked by four floors of flats. A wildflower meadow might be nicer to look at. Home for a few bees and insects.
Always interesting seeing gardens from the canal
An overnight stop in the countryside is always good even though a passerby warned not to leave the boat unattended as there had been break-ins in the area.
Heading into Braunston under the motorway after a particularly heavy shower of rain.
Next morning the tunnel was clear and we headed for Braunston in showery heavy rain.
Once past Cosgrove it was on to Stoke Bruerne but word filtered down that the Blissworth tunnel was shut with a tree blocking the far side and that boat were backed up. ‘Best to moor up as soon as you can’ was the advice.
It was a strange journey from being in a heatwave in the south to the blessed cooler warmth of sunny days in the north.
The Grand Union Canal snakes its way round the north of Milton Keynes through avenues of popular tree, past stone built villages that have thatched pubs and tiny chapels. Passing underneath the industrial railway town of Wolverton and onto the delightful village of Cosgrove with its horse tunnel running underneath the canal.
Delivery pods are quite common in Milton Keynes, delivering groceries or takeaways.
