Evolution
Chapter 6
This whole thing was getting boring and tiring. Adam was just getting more restless everyday and Micheal had been seperating himself more and more lately, ever since their last encounter. He had nothing to do in the mindscape except bake, sleep, and sit around staring at the wall. He hates to admit it but he sorta missed having Micheal to just sit there and talk. He just wished he knew what was happening in the cage.
‘’Ccmmmoonn let me just say hi’’ Lucifer begged with that crazy grin on his face. Micheal eyed him, watching his every move, ready for anything. ‘’You’re crazy to think you’ll ever get to see him.’’
Lucifer whined. ‘’No fair you never share your toys’’
‘’He’s not a toy.’’
Lucifer cocked an eyebrow as his weird little grin grew wider. ‘’oooh what’s this? Does the big king archangel actually feel something for his little vessel?’’ Micheal didnt respond he just kept that same emotionless tough expression on his face.
“Ooohhh boy you really like him!” Lucifer’s grin widened that clown grin stretched across his face ear to ear it was almost unnatural. “Have you gone soft Mikey? What happened to- “hairless apes” and “troublemakers” huh?”
Lucifer stepped closer in a taunting matter, Micheal took a full step back. He made sure to never break eye contact. His stare could kill a deer.
“You are the worst of our fathers creations.” Micheal replied.
Lucifer scoffed and laugh and rolled his eyes, his grin turning into a smirk. “Jeez someones moody. You’re no fun when you’re like this.” He said. Eventunally his smile fully fell and he let out a hefty sigh.
“Welp, im bored.” He turned and when to the top right corner of the cage. “Go touch yourself or whatever it is you do in your little corner.” He said before plopping down, his back leaning on the bars, knees apart, head tilted back and his arms resting on his knees.
Micheal finally stopped chewing the inner skin of the human lip and retreated to the opposing corner. Lucifers been slowing getting more and more bored, this time Micheal assumed he’d be bored for a good couple hours but time in the cage was hard to tell.
Adam was laying on the couch aka his usual spot when Micheal popped into the headspace. Adam raised his head when he felt the presence but neither said a single word. Adam found it useless to try and have a conversation with a brick wall at this point so hes just fully given up. The two havent truly spoken in a long long time. Micheal stayed staring at Adam, unblinking. That’s when something totally unexpected happened.
“Lucifer’s asked to see you for the hundredth time.”
He said.
Adam cocked his head up a little suprised. Micheal starting a conversation? Unbelievable. Adam fully pushed himself up into a sitting position and scooted himself over to a single part of the couch.
“He sees me everyday doesn’t he?” He asked
“He wants to see you. Not your vessel.” Micheal replied.
Adam’s eyes narrowed in thought as his gaze drifted down to his feet. He kicked them slightly. The thought of why Lucifer could possibly want to see him sent shivers down his spine.
“Why?” The words came out hesitant and his vulnerable gaze looked into Micheals. Adam always hated how unhuman Micheal made his eyes look when hes such an emotioned filled boy.
Micheal met Adams eyes and it looked like ever so slightly his gaze softened…”He’s a sick bastard. Whatever goes through his twisted mind is incomprehensible.” He replied.
Yeah wow that was comforting. Adam bit his lip and leaned back into the couch. He assumed that this was Micheals checking out point as he never really said more than three sentences.
When he felt a weight sit next to him he was filled with confusion. He rasied his head and looked over at Micheal’s slouched position. He’s never seen him so…relaxed. Usually Micheal made his body look so tense and tired and battered up but right now he looked like he was actually somewhat human.
“You’re staying?” Adam asked, trying to hide the slight hopefulness in his tone.
“Lucifer bored, you should be fine for enough time for me to sit back for a bit.” Micheal replied.
Adam nodded slowly and looked straight foward. The air between them felt awkward and almost as tense as the archangel sitting next to Adam.
“Tell me one of your journeys.” Micheal said, his eyes now fully locked on Adam. Adam smiled slightly and turned his head to look at him. He lifted his legs into a criss cross sitting position on the couch and turned his body to face Micheal.
“Do you remember that story about the guy taking that vase?”
“I do.”
And from there Adam rambled on and on and on and Micheal couldn’t help but be filled with a sense of nirvana. Maybe he did like Adam and little more than he’d like to admit.
