I couldnāt sleep this morning (lol) so I made this small tutorial.
I do a lot of things in lazy ways and this is one of them! clothing pattern and embroidery typically look good when itās very neat (ie uniform width throughout the pattern) but that means itās a pain in the ass to hand draw. Here I used the following tools to help me take advantage of photoshop Selection and Stroke functions to create containment lines and borders that are of uniform width. Combined with the hand drawn pattern (with pressure sensitivity turned OFF) this benefits from both the organic look of the original pattern and the precision of photoshop selections, and makes it look very carefully handcrafted while taking no time at all.
functions used:Ā
Select layer content: Ctrl+click layer thumbnail
Expand selection: Select > Modify > Expand
Stroke: Edit > Stroke
Brush
Can be used to draw embroidery, create clean line art (ie shoe laces), draw lace, tattoo looking designs, etc
