Question about the script of the show: when they’re on the phone after Ilya’s father’s death, the infamous phone call where Ilya confesses his love in Russian, at the beginning, when Ilya is saying “English is too hard right now,” and Shane and him have the flirty back and forth about Shane’s ability to learn a language, Ilya goes “Bonjour.” Shane replies, “That’s French, Ilya.”
The captions on HBO say that Ilya responds with “yeah, no shit.” But I SWEAR he’s saying “yeah, I know Shane.” I have no idea how captions on HBO work, whether they’re automated based on what the dialogue sounds like, or if an actual person is typing them. Does anyone else think Ilya’s saying “yeah, I know Shane?”

I’d like to read an au in which Shane and Ilya haven’t been hooking up, but Game Changer timeline is still canon, and Scott Hunter wins the cup and comes out by kissing Kip on the ice. And so, logically, Shane thinks the secret to bringing home another cup is to be gay. So he approaches his rival Ilya Rozanov with this idea, and Ilya is all for it bc he will do anything to belittle Scott Hunter.
Shane and Ilya, as the captains of their respective teams, suggesting the same place after each Boston-Montreal game just so they can make eyes at each other across the room in the hopes that it’ll lead to a night together. Same messy situationship era, Shane just enjoys going out more… or maybe he doesn’t, he just puts up with it to see Ilya.
They text each other in the immediate aftermath of the game, playing a whole avoidance thing of “are you celebrating/mourning your loss with the team tonight somewhere” and their respective teammates overtime come to the same strange realization that they always happen to go to the same bar/club their opponents go to.
All for Shane and Ilya to not even interact, text each other from across the room bc it’s the closest they can get to having a conversation in public. And then they don’t even leave together, they go through tedious steps to call separate taxis/ubers just to end up in the same bed an hour later, and not talk about this dance of theirs for years.

Under a cut because this post got kind of long.
Basically, I would say the Next Gen/Cursed Era includes HPMA, some people choose to believe it doesn't, but since the HPMA main cast are either a year above or the same age as Teddy Lupin, I think it's only fair to include them. Abigail Grey, a HPMA background character, apparently even mentions wanting to be Teddy's friend. However, we kind of have to pull from all over the place, so some of these characters are from HPWU, FBCWW, DPNL and various other miscellaneous sources, including names that only appear in the damn themepark.
They're all really spread out though, and obviously a lot of them are related (Wotter's plus Scorpius has like three cousins). HPNG fans don't actually all necessarily take HPCC as gospel since the script has changed a few times, but HPCC is more of a basis for the kind of theming these characters have and also provides some other characters we can use, as well as canon characterisations.
It'll be a bit difficult to give a full explanation of every character, especially since they're pulled from so many random sources with different storylines, but the general theme of pretty much every established storyline is generational trauma, a general "I'm not my parents/namesakes vibe" and the impacts of authorities corrupting power (Harry, Hermione, Gareth and Grim all canonically do feel how power can corrupt people, although Harry and Hermione do at least eventually learn and acknowledge that while Gareth and Grim do not). Like, people generally agree that James Sirius Potter is a classic case of oldest sibling who is desperately trying to keep his little brother and sister out of trouble. Lily and Hugo are actually generally regarded as the troublemakers of this gen while James S and Fred II are quite often thought of as more nerdy.
The easiest way I can explain it's appeal is by comparing it to the other gens.
Knights of Walpurgis Era: You know how it ends, but you get to decide the beginning and middle.
Marauders Era: You know how it starts and how it ends, but you get to decide what changed.
Golden Trio Era: You get the full story, but you get to decide what makes that story important.
Cursed Era: You get the beginning and parts of the middle, and you get to decide how they move on from there.
I'll give you my list of characters, but it's actually not super exhaustive, the themepark names are mostly painfully generic so I only took the ones I liked (there's a dude named Christian Williams or some shit, like that's how basic they are), and I'll list their parents, if they have named parents, beside them. You can look at the fandom wiki so if anyone intrigues you, so you can see what the canon storyline is, but also you can probably just scroll through the #hp next gen tag and find a lot of stuff (recently it is mostly me, because the subfandom shrunk, but there's other people in there. Do watch out for people tagging random Dramione, Jegulus and Wolfstar posts with Scorpius Malfoy, Scorbus and Teddy Lupin though, it was a MASSIVE problem a few years ago and I blocked so many people I don't actually know how big of a problem it still is). I've got them in my age order, but there is some variation across the fandom. Skull next to a dead parent BTW.

I read so many hr fics in which a point is made to make it clear that Shane and Ilya couldn’t keep any photos of each other out of fear of their relationship being exposed. I’d like to read at least one in which they purposefully *do* take pics of each other. Like, they still go through the same timeline and the same steps of eventually getting together, but they have a slightly elevated sense of emotional attachment from the beginning that they aren’t afraid to express to one another, and that’s via taking pics.
This comes out of the heartbreaking vision I had: in the relative immediate aftermath of their relationship being exposed, and the internet is doing cia level detective work to dig up proof, Ilya posts a singular photo: Shane, laughing at something Ilya said, his hand outstretched to playfully bat away Ilya’s flip phone (or blackberry or whatever phones they had in 2010). And it’s clear that the photo was taken on an older phone bc of the quality. And Ilya captions the post something like “we were just kids.”

Listen I’m not firmly on either side of Cuddy and House vs. House and Wilson. But I think arguably one of the most loving (platonic or romantic) things I’ve ever seen on prime time television is Wilson and House going back and forth on furniture for the condo in s6e16. House eventually tells Wilson that he doesn’t want him to be defined by someone else’s choices (referring to Wilson always letting his wife or girlfriend at the time decorate their place).
Then Wilson buys an organ for House. It’s the only thing he picked himself. And I feel like that could be interpreted not as House selfishly defining Wilson, but as Wilson purposefully letting House into his life. House is a part of him.
And then to top it all off, House says, with pure joy and warmth in his eyes, “I like what this says about you Wilson.” And the shot cuts to Wilson who looks so happy tears are actually brimming in his eyes.

Just remembering the time I was like 13-years-old and writing the most unnecessarily dramatic pjo fic. Percy and Annabeth were on a drive to their junior year of college. Somehow they get transported to the past, specifically, camp half blood of 2008/2009 when Percy was chilling with Calypso and assumed to be dead. They had a chocolate lab puppy named Bean bc I was obsessed with chocolate labs at the time. For whatever reason, P+A of the future have to keep their relationship secret (this was when straight ppl problems used to thrill me). They were fr chain smoking in the dining pavilion while everyone watched in silence as they had an absolute bitchfest Ross and Rachel style. Percy got mad at Annabeth for smoking and then he bummed a cigarette from her and then the fight ended with them both in tears BUT they did resolve their issues. Anyways if y’all want me to scour my drive for this and post it, no edits, lmk. Idk what 13-year-old me with no experience in anything related to relationships or smoking or college was on, but it was certainly some kind of trip.
Craving a fic in which Shane and Ilya get into a fistfight with each other on the ice on TV. They are shortly thereafter outed somehow.
