FINALLY IT’S DONE. NEXT SHOT.
Hello all! I recently did some inking of Bernie, our favorite chubby pup. Then I colored it for kicks because I was bored XD It turned out so nice that I wanted to share!
Remember guys, if you subscribe to our YouTube channel, you’ll be notified when we do livestreams! These range from inking, rough animation, to compositing and special effects
YouTube Streaming
Hey everyone! I’ve been pretty lax about posting on here, and I apologize for that, Hopefully though I have some news that will make up for the long silence.
Other staffers and I have started livestreaming ourselves working on the project! So far, our streams have covered compositing/editing, animation and inking. It’s a great way to ask questions, watch us work, and have some fun!
YouTube Channel Link: CLICK HERE
Scheduling for these is kind of whenever we feel like it, but we’re trying to stream once a week. Usually on Friday evenings, around 7-8 PM CST. Because staff members all live in different places, it varies, but we make events whenever we know for sure that we’ll be doing a stream.
Check us out and come join us!
Process Videos on Youtube
Hey there, Wolf fans! I know it’s been a little while. Sorry about that. I’ll be nice and brief, we have something very exciting to show you today.
Just in case anyone has no already subscribed to our YouTube channel, we are going to be starting a new series of videos that show the different processes the staff use to make this movie. Not only will this show you exactly what it is we do, but it will hopefully explain some of the steps in more detail than a simple block of text will. And the first video has just been uploaded to our channel!

Calling all background artists!
Are you able to make lovely scenes like this?
If the answer is yes, we could really use your help! Like, desperately! :’D
Here is the info you need to know:
Background Artists/Layouts: You should be able to paint or draw realistic scenery. Background artists must be able to paint to a style, for consistency. We are in need of people with experience in drawing structures.
Skills you need: The ability to digitally paint realistic backgrounds The ability to match your painting style to ours
Equipment you need: Access to Photoshop or GIMP
How to apply: Send examples of your artwork to [email protected]. Background applicants should send completed colored pieces, preferably of rural settings. Layout artists may send pencil renderings, or digital sketches in black and white.
Any other info: http://wolfmovie.com/contribute
Still in need.

Reflections from an Inker
Hey guys, Lupana here. Wanted to share something interesting I discovered today.
I just discovered my original inking submission for this project. Now at the time I really did not think I was going to get accepted, but I told myself I was going to regret it if I never even tried to apply. So I did and I ended up getting accepted.
Now here’s the thing. When I applied, I did not know how to use the pen tool (like they recommend inkers use to help get really smooth lineart). So my line art was done BY HAND. It was jumpy and messy and omg I cannot believe they wanted me?? And compared to my line art NOW, it’s like not even the same level anymore.
My point is that anyone can improve with time. And I had no idea how much I had improved.
Updates
Not much to say today. A few of us have been dealing with sickness or just general life craziness, hence for the lull in the blog. But rest assured we are working as hard as we can ;) As soon as there’s something to share we’ll share it! (Except sickness because no one likes to get sick)
Merrick is strong willed and intelligent, although jaded and bitter by his experiences in the wild. He is a dedicated and protective father, to his daughter, Kay.
Kay is Merrick's daughter. She is a tom-boy with a wild and firey spirit. She loves being out in nature, riding her horse and working the family ranch.
New Theme / Positions Page Added
Hey guys! Slight update here to our theme. We had some issues where no one could reblog from the main page, which is weird. It should be fixed now, hopefully.
We have also added a new page that further goes into our available positions and what is needed to apply. Check it out!
If there are any bugs or glitches, let us know please :)

Time for our human characters!
Brett is a young and idealistic agent of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service. He can be stubborn and sometimes naive, but he is also honest and dedicated to his convictions.
Not sure why there’s some big empty white space on the side... guess the original image is too small?
Here’s a nice example of how a shot goes through each step in the process of making a full movie.
Animation: Our animators sketch out the shot by hand, either with pencil and paper or with a tablet and Photoshop/GIMP. In this case, this is pencil and paper that was scanned into a computer and then compiled frame by frame.
Inking: Inkers take the original animation and redraw it, making sure the width of the lines is the same throughout the shot, and that everything is nice and clean. If a character is laying still, the lines are CAP’d (Copy and pasted) to keep everything from jumping around. Here the only movements are the shadows and fur. Luna-dot is just a guide and will be added later. The last step is to color the lines. It’s hard to see here, but it’s what makes his markings blend in and not look “black” like the rest of the lines.
Coloring: Once the lines are all cleaned up, they get colored! Pretty self-explanatory.
Effects Animation/Compositing: When the frames are completed up to this point, they go to our compositor, who adds the Luna dot and little sparkles using Adobe After Effects. Then everything is combined to make the final shot!
To the anon about voice acting
After double checking with our director, all of the voices have been filled. Thank you for asking though!
Lizzie is one of the litter of three pups. She is the boss, the Alpha pup and full of vim and verve.
Oh Lizzie, the snot of the bunch <3 Such a cutie but she’s awesome too. There are a few shots of her that are just so hilarious.
Indigo is one of the litter of three pups. He is sweet with the heart of a poet. More timid than his siblings, Indy is often the target of their pranks.
Of all three pups, Indi is my favorite. If I was able to have a real wolf as a pet, I would take Indi in a heartbeat okay?
