Okay, so, people make jokes about “Super Dad” but man these guys are real. I read a few posts where people claim things like this were staged, but my own Dad did some “Super Dad” shit.
My brother is in a wheel chair, and one day when he was in high school, the lift on the school bus that enabled him to travel to-and-from school every day, malfunctioned when it was dropping my brother off.
The hydraulics completely stopped, and the lift basically collapsed. My father, all of 5'6" tall, reached over his head, grabbed my brother CHAIR AND ALL and threw him over his shoulder to save him from face-planting on the ground when the lift hit the ground and then safely deposited my brother, still in the wheelchair, onto the ground.
Now my brother is not a small person, even back then, I'm talking 18 year old boy of about 180 pounds at least, that's not including the weight of the wheel chair, which is probably at least another 70+ pounds.
Another time, I was playing on the hill behind the house, Dad was at the foot of the driveway shoveling some gravel, a good 80 yards away from me. I slipped and fell, and nearly went off the edge of a (small) rock cliff, about a 9 foot drop. I was 7. My shirt got snagged on a tree root on the way down. I think I had enough time to give a short scream before my Dad materialized out of fucking no where to pull me off the root and back up to my feet.
Another time, I was playing in the river at a friend's house, and one of the balls we were playing with went across the riverbank. I was taller than my friends, so I was used to being able to walk across the river without much trouble, it was usually up to my shoulder at the deepest part. However, there had been a recent rain and the river was higher than usual. I didn't realize this until it was too late, and was swept away by the current.
My dad jumped 12 feet off of a bridge to save my ass that couldn't swim before I went over the waterfall.
