We live in the dumbest, lamest cyberpunk dystopia possible.

So LA has been — and continues to — protest against ICE. These protests haven’t gotten any smaller or lost any momentum, but social media wasn’t reflecting it.

TikTok users, realizing that the platform/other social media are censoring/deleting/shadowbanning these protest videos, decided to find a workaround.

They’re calling it the LA Music Festival. Ice detention centers and other protest locations are “stages.” The hottest band is Rage Against the Machine. “Here’s what gear you should be bringing to stay safe at the LA Music Festival.”

And it fucking worked.

TikTok has become a proving ground for a lot of new music, meaning lots of labels and organizations have lucrative deals with TikTok to promote their new artists and music festivals. So they absolutely cannot censor the words “music festival” or train the algorithm to ignore it, or they risk endangering that very important revenue.

So now protest videos are flooding feeds again, but it’s the LA 24/7 Music Festival. Truly an incredible timeline we’ve landed in.

@myshunosun — one of the amazing creators whose CC lives in so many of our games — wrote something on Patreon that’s been sitting with me:

“I want to feel like I’m in charge of my own creativity. I have paused many projects due to fear of not meeting (someone’s, algorithm’s?) expectations.”

Wow. How many of us have dreamed up a project, staged it, edited it, loved it… only to abandon it because the post “flopped”? Because the absence of notes or reblogs made it feel like rejection?

And how many who do get traction start feeling trapped by it — shelving ideas, cutting them off entirely, just to keep feeding what people already like? That popularity should feel like vindication but instead it becomes a chore? Obligation? That’s the razor-thin line every creative walks.

I’ve lost a few moots I adored this past year. You can tell when someone starts feeling like they’re not talented enough, or not “in” enough. The posts dwindle. The breaks grow longer. One day there’s an announcement or maybe everything is gone. It’s disheartening.

So if you’re a creator — in any sense — please don’t stop sharing you. I’m not going to feed you platitudes about how “someone out there needs it” or “you’re wonderful” because I don’t know that (yet?).

What I do know: it’s scary as hell to yell into the dark and never hear an echo. But if you’re going to be out here anyway, you might as well fucking roar.

Why is it so hard to get rid of stuff I KNOW I don't like, or have never used? Why am I attached to fictional clothing like it was my grandmothers closet?

Seeing all the posts about EA and the future of The Sims, people saying they’re uninstalling, deleting their blogs, that life is over… I just want to say this as someone who's made rash decisions in the middle of big emotions:

STOP! Breathe.

Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. Close your eyes and repeat a few times. Block out the online noise for a second. Focus on yourself. Feel what's happening in your own body. Let it loosen.

Right now you're upset, worried, angry, grieving. Of course you want to do something, maybe escape, maybe burn it all down. But two days from now, when the dust starts to settle, you'll be staring at a new problem: "Oh no, what have I done?!" Don't add to your pain by acting in panic.

We don't have all the facts yet. There's speculation, misinformation, and a lot of fearmongering. There's also truth. But before taking any action, take a step back. Let your emotions cool. Then come back and read, think, and make a decision.

Yes, things will change. Yes, it's uncomfortable, and there will be losses. But if you delete your blog today, you're also deleting your community. All the people who think like you, who share your space.

If you're anxious and your emotions are boiling over, log out. Close the computer. Lock the apps that escalate those emotions. Don't wind yourself up further. Trust me on this.

In a few weeks, the situation will be clearer. That's just how it always goes. This community is made of so many different people. People who support each other without hesitation, who share tutorials, workarounds, and advice about everything under the sun. There will be guides. There will be fixes. There will be people to lean on. Together, solutions are always found.

So yes, feel the frustration, the sadness, the anger. Then breathe. Step back for a second. Don't torch your bridges in the heat of panic. The game may change, the company may disappoint, but the community remains here, unless we destroy it ourselves.

Sentate - Couture Mannequin Collection

Seeing as September is both my birthday month and my 18th anniversary, I thought it was only fitting to make something to mark both occasions… fashionably late of course. I’ve wanted my own set of Haute Couture style dressmaking mannequins for a while now, so I finally got round to making them!

Whether you’re building a fashion atelier, a bridal boutique or perhaps just filling up that walk in wardrobe, this set of 9 deco mannequins will be the perfect way to say you mean business. Featuring 6 dresses from my Anita-Rose Collection, each coming in 10 colour options.

The undressed mannequins also have various stained and grungy swatches to choose from, Its actually weirder to see a fresh and clean mannequin as they always seem to end up trashing themselves! I really enjoyed making these and would love to expand on the set, maybe even do a little more build/buy cc too!
