Simone is a very experienced voice over. For more than 10 years she is working with her voice. It started out doing radio and later doing a diverse range of audio projects. In this photo (April 2018) she is in the studio working with Hindenburg software.
She also made a song in 2012 self-written and called ‘Passion Subsiding’. You can find it a.o. on iTunes, right here. The lounge track was produced by Seafront Music.

It’s... Manga Simone!
“I have always loved comics and cartoons. For example, when I was a young girl I always watched ‘Transformers’ in the weekend mornings with my brothers. And I devoured comics of Marvel and DC Comics. Also I watched anime tv-series like ‘Candy Candy’. In my work I always think in stories and images. When I need to explain a certain vision or strategy, when I write or when I need to prepare for a roll as actress. And when I talk, I move a lot with my hands, haha.
So..., it is no surprise that later on in my life... first there was ‘Super Simone’ (2011), then there was ‘Funky Simone’ (2012) and now... ‘Manga Simone’!
Isn’t she beautiful!? This illustration was done by the mysterious ‘RDB’, and it was inspired by my sort of alter ego ‘Funky Simone’ (also on Facebook). ‘Fanart’, as they say. Thanks so much... I love it!

A force for good?
This week Simone worked on an awareness film for Den Haag Fossielvrij. This is the result after a quite windy afternoon at the beach of Scheveningen, The Hague (NL). Simone’s co-actor was Jan Geerling. The film was directed by Jacco Groen, script and editing by Femke Sleegers.

Congratulations, CinemAsia!
This year it is the 10th edition of CinemAsia film festival. It was founded by Doris Yeung, who ‘immigrated to Holland as a young Asian American filmmaker from San Francisco and felt there was a lack of Asian representation in the cultural offerings at the time’. Congratulations to all who are making this great, diverse festival possible! Today, March 11th, within the FilmLab program of CinemAsia, the short ‘Laxmi calling Ling’ will be screened again at Kriterion, Amsterdam. Simone will be there! For Simone presenting at events already started at high school. In that time she also was a member of the student council. It is no suprise that later in life Simone went on as a professional presenter and moderator at various events. 30 September Simone was moderator at a district debate in The Hague (NL) on the opening of a sports park for other people in the neighborhood than just the football club. Simone as actress in video ‘At Last’ feat. Carol Joyce! This video was filmed November 2015, directed by John Kakiay & Michael van Hogezand. One of the filming locations was De Regentenkamer in The Hague (Netherlands). This is a well-known stage for music, art and culture, which also has a long history in the Dutch world of jazz.

Creativity never stops
First two months of 2016 already passed by! Simone is now working a lot as voice artist. She is a professional narrator for audio books and also lends her voice to commercials, voice response, education and so on. Last year it was exactly 10 years ago (hip hip hurrayyy!) since Simone started to work professionally with her voice. One of her first project was a video game by Ubisoft. “I am very thankful to have this voice,” Simone says. As narrator Simone recently finished The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter. Also she did Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard and ‘The Eye of Minds’ by James Dashner. The latter you may remember of The Maze Runner Series, which were filmed. On the internet it says that there might be a movie adaption of ‘Red Queen’ too. Over the years Simone has developed herself as an ‘expert’ narrator for in particularly fantasy and sci-fi audio books.
November 2015 she performed as actress in a music video (still in production) for a Dutch female singer, who did her own version of ‘At last’ by Etta James. Filming took place in Simone’s hometown The Hague (NL), which is also where the Dutch government is seated and the International Court of Justice. “I caught a cold, I was sneezing and snivelling like crazy (sorry, make-up lady!), but as always, I had a wonderful time with the crew and my fellow actor. Nice energy all over..! Coincidentally..., or maybe not, I was after a long time again listening to songs of Etta James not long before the request came to join the team...”
Also this month Simone organized her 5th ‘Funky Simone Tea Party’, an event to connect the warm-hearted, energetic, enterprising people she knows. This time the event took place in hair salon Hair Topic in The Hague. Catering was excellently taken care of by Brady’s. Singer-songwriters Michael Highsand en Kenny performed.
