āļøšÆļø Hi, I'm Simon, I also use the name Bones. He/Him and It/Its pronouns. Lunatic, Menace, Trying to find something profound in everything, Cooking guy, Pitbull Enthusiast, Love history and ecology, Artist, Baby Witch, and a love for Figs.
Ok, it's taken me SIX YEARS to make this. But I did it! It's done! Please watch it!
(No AI used fuck AI)
It's my first animation project, which is why it took so long. I had to learn to animate to make it. It's only a bit over 2 minutes, but I made it the best I possibly could. Please please please watch it. I am so proud of it.
It's a trailer for my first novel- a late YA scifi/superhero book.
Is it absurd to make a fully animated book "trailer" for a book that's been out for 6 years, with voice acting and commissioned music (by the fantastic @plottwiststudios) ? I mean yes. Of course. I'm not even doing this for real marketing purposes because this is a ridiculous thing to do. I don't even really think it'll sell books but the process of making it made me really really happy.
I love my fictional disaster queers, and I love my book, and when I was a kid I thought I'd grow up to be an animator. I've always loved animation, and I really, really enjoyed making something animated myself. I'm really proud of how it turned out.
Please watch it. Please share it.
If it does make you actually want to read the story, you can get it as an ebook, paperback, or audiobook. (the ebook is currently free)
I start my next animation project- a fake anime opening credits for book 3 in this series, starting next month.
This is a crosspost of an update from the Blackminnow Games Patreon:

Reach of the River has been recognized as a work of outstanding artistic merit and awarded a $12,000 creation grant by the New Brunswick Arts Board (ArtsNB).
$12,000 might be small to some projects, but this is the piece of funding I was missing - no more stretching our budget to cover animations, no more compromising on quantity. It's all here now, in one lump sum.
For transparency, here's the finalized budget agreed upon by artsNB:
~CAD $7,000 (after -$1,000 tax) for animation, with prices estimated down to the individual asset. Combined with our existing saved funds, this covers not just necessary animations but a generous set of emotes and actions per family.
~CAD $500 in equipment for a prototype gallery installation version of RotR (come say hi when it happens?).
- Remainder covers two months of living expenses for myself.
Some of our existing savings, donations, and ongoing monthly revenue - originally budgeted toward animations anyway - will, after covering monthly server and web costs, go either into our animation spending pool or toward wishlist assets, with the remainder continuing to be saved. Thank you to everyone's generous support over the years. Because of you, I do not have to pay RotR's operating costs out of pocket, nor do I dig into this money for subsistence or personal costs.
Our estimated delivery date for updated and new playable families has been brought forward dramatically, I'm incredibly excited. This means more to me than words can express.

Reach of the River is a solo-developer passion project created by a friend of mine, and which I play every time I turn on my computer. It is an indie social online multiplayer animal survival and roleplaying game currently in active development for Windows PCs. You can learn more about the game here:
A New Kind of Animal Game ā Social multiplayer online animal survival set in Atlantic Canadian ecosystems.
If you're interested in playing a game as an animalācurrently as deer and wolves, in the future as big cats and bears, and in the far future as an owl, and perhaps moreāI cannot recommend Reach of the River more highly. It is in pre-alpha, meaning it is not complete and is being actively developed while presently featuring bugs, latency, and other work-in-progress quirks. Our playtesting and passion helps guide the game development. This is a community I truly believe in and dedicate myself to, and I encourage anyone interested to give it a try.
There are free play weekends across the first weekend of every month (upcoming from July 3 - July 5, 2026!); many players have invite tokens which grant an account free, permanent game access; and donating to the game even once on Patreon (which starts at $3.50 USD) grants an account permanent access regardless of active Patron status, as well as additional rewards such as invite codes and more while Patron status is active!
I just needed to share this absolutely monumental news about my favourite game. I could not be more proud of this developer or this wonderful community!
I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. Heās like the mayor character in a cartoon whoās always dressed as The Mayor. If I didnāt know who he was and he biked past me in NYC Iād be like holy shit was that the mayor
