once we cross this line, it’s done.
aaron hotchner x f!reader
summary: aaron and reader have a love hate relationship that comes to a head after a case.
t/w: cursing, making out, mention of daddy issues and addiction.
“i didn’t know you were coming,” aaron hotchner’s deep voice rose above the others. outside of the bau, aaron had no qualms about maintaining professionalism.
you despised your unit chief. he was arrogant. he had no sense of humor. he was older than you and reminded you every chance he could. worst of all, he was the sexiest man you’ve ever known.
aaron fed you a delicious glare across the table as you slid onto the stool next to spencer. you answered with a smile you knew brought men to their knees. aaron was apparently immune.
you’d give anything for the tall unit chief to fall prey to you. he’d be putty in your hands.
“now kids, let’s play nice. we’re celebrating,” rossi said, noticing aaron hadn’t let up from trying to murder you with his eyes.
“yeah, hotchy. play nice,” you chided, a pout forming on your lips.
“or what?” you challenged. you cocked your head and raised a brow at him.
“okay, okay, calm down. here, pretty girl,” derek said, sliding you a lemon drop.
you smiled a thanks as you took a sip. “ya know,” you started, turning towards aaron. “if you keep looking at me like that, your face will freeze up.”
“imagine if you would have stayed home. i wouldn’t have to worry about it,” he shot back. the team shared a look with one another. rossi’s warning obviously fell on deaf ears.
you just couldn’t help it. riling aaron hotchner up was your favorite past time. tip toeing around him in the field and trying to be professional got so boring.
you knew when you landed a good jab. his jaw tightens, and his hands curl into fists at his sides, as if it’s taking every ounce of restraint to not reach over and put his hands on you.
which you’d welcome, because at this point, the lines have blurred so much between love and hate.
“believe me, hotchy, you’re thrilled i showed up here,” you said, bringing your drink to your lips. you held his gaze as you made a show of downing your drink.
“and why’s that?” he feigned disinterest, but he was dying to know the answer. his gaze slid over you the way it did when he interrogates an unsub and he was afraid to lose. aaron hotchner hated to lose. especially to you.
“i’m your favorite verbal sparring partner,” you said with a shrug. “you love to see how you can get under my skin. and you hate that i’m not intimidated by you like other people.”
“are you profiling me, agent?”
“you hired me to do just that.”
“i’m dying to know how that interview went,” derek stage-whispered to jj and emily. the girls hid their smirks with their drinks. aaron cut derek a look. “must’ve been a lot of tension in that office.”
“yeah. sexual tension,” emily muttered. you heard her. everyone heard her. aaron’s jaw tightened and he closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath.
everyone braced themselves for the verbal lashing aaron was bound to give emily. but when his eyes opened, those brown irises stared straight at you.
a gorgeous smirk stretched across aaron’s face. like he just locked and loaded the biggest blow he was ever going to deliver. your body involuntarily leaned across the table closer to him. he answered you by leaning toward you, your bodies like magnets. as aaron’s mouth opened, jj grabbed your arm and pulled you from the stool.
“let’s dance!” disappointment slammed into you like a brick wall, but you let her pull you to the dance floor.
a top 40 thrummed through the speakers, and aaron forgotten, you let the music flow through you. shaking your hips to the beat, you lost yourself. so much so, you didn’t hear the footsteps behind you. large hands slide around your hips and turned you toward their owner.
his hands slid up to your waist, pulling you a little closer to him. “aren’t you dying to know what i was going to say?”
“i’m dying to know a lot of things right now.” you made a point of looking down at the hands on your waist.
aaron turned you around in his arms and pulled you flush against him. the top 40 morphed into a slower country song. aaron’s hands moved toward your stomach and brought his mouth down to you ear.
“i was going to say,” he started. those fucking hands moving the two of you to the music. his long body touched every part of you, engulfing you in his presence. “that she was right.”
aaron began running kisses down your neck. your breath caught. you couldn’t think. you couldn’t speak. goosebumps ran up and down your arms. this wasn’t the way you saw the night going.
you were the one who was becoming putty. you’d only ever given thought to what you’d do him, you didn’t stop to think what it would be like to be at his mercy.
and right then, you’d do absolutely anything he asked of you.
“come on,” he said. your name fell out of his mouth like a prayer. “you know what they say about love and hate. and baby, i’ve never hated you.” he punctuated the sentence with a kiss beneath your ear.
“hotch,” you whispered. you wanted to add that y at the end, that one letter that drove him crazy, but your mind was racing through all the other ways you could drive him mad.
“i hate the way you consume my every thought.” aaron spun you back around, his finger on your chin tilting your head up. “i hate how every time you feed me a smart ass remark, i can’t shut you up with my mouth.”
he removed a hand from your waist, brushing it along your neck. tucking some hair behind your ear, he kissed along your jawline. the way he was making you feel was completely inappropriate for the middle of the bar.
not being able to keep your hands to yourself any longer, you clutched the front of his dress shirt. his eyes flicked down to them and back up.
“you consume my every thought. fuck, i spend half the time in the field preparing for all the ways i can keep you safe,” he rested his forehead against yours, the height difference causing him to lean further down. “that’s why i always pair myself with you.”
your eyes fall closed, working through the confession. you couldn’t believe it. you’d hope. god, you’d hoped. his arms engulfed you the exact why you thought they would. when aaron moved to completely torture the other side of your neck, a whimper escaped your lips.
you prayed the music drowned it out, but the way his brow quirked up told you otherwise. “i’ve never rendered you speechless before, agent. you always have a comeback for me,” he said, continuing to move the two of you to the beat of the music. aaron was so much taller than you were, and you fit into him perfectly.
one hand moved down to cup your ass, then quickly back up to your waist. the movement elicited another inhuman sound. aaron smirked this time. “i gotta say. those pretty noises are much better than your smart ass comments.”
you needed to gain control of this situation. aaron was having too much fun. of course, you were too. make no mistake. having aaron hotchner’s hands alllll over you is every girl’s dream.
“yeah? what are you going to do about it, hotchy?” you breathed. he snapped. any of his composure he was maintaining was gone. the team forgotten. he moved the two of your toward the women’s restroom.
“the bathroom, hotchy?” you teased.
“got any better ideas?” he asked, maintaining his beeline for the corner of the bar. about a million. but you were afraid if he left the bar, whatever spell the two of you were under would break.
you let him pull you through the door of the woman’s restroom. pining you against the door, his hand made quick work of the lock. he stared down at you. an internal battle caused his jaw to tighten.
“oh no,” you told him. “i don’t know what you’re working through in that gorgeous head of yours. but you’re wrong.”
“gorgeous?” he smirked. “what do you thinking i’m working through?” aaron took your wrists into his hand and pinned them against the door above your head. it was quiet in here. you could hear how out of breath both of you were. if you listened carefully, you could almost hear how erratic aaron’s heart was beating. “hmm? you don’t want to profile me again? i gotta say, it was hot when you did it.” you squirmed beneath his grip, but he wasn’t letting up.
“you’re not sure you should act on this desire.” his jaw tightened again. bingo. “you think you’re too old for me.” his adam’s apple bobbed. got it. “you’re afraid that once you start,” you swallowed. “you won’t be able to stop.” his grip on your wrists tightened every so slightly.
his eyes searched yours, and he made no move. you stood there staring at one another. daring the other to make the first move. that way, if it went to shit, you’d each have someone to blame.
“come on, hotchy, am i right?” you prodded. “i know i’m right.”
“first of all,” aaron leaned down to your ear. his lips brushed against it as he spoke. “in here. right now. when i have you at my mercy, im not hotchy.” he switched to your other ear. “second of all, i am too old for you.” he leaned his forehead against yours. “third of all, if i started, you’re not going to want me to stop.” aaron let you go and stepped back. he ran a hand down his face, then brought his hands to his hips. you’d completely unraveled him and you hadn’t even kissed.
you were going to have to make the first move. as confident has he came across, he was worried he read you wrong.
you stepped away from the door, closing the space he made. pushing him against the counter, you closed him in with your hands on either side of him. you had to crane your head completely to look up at him. aaron chuckled at the position you put him in.
"it doesn't quite have the same effect if you're not 6'4", huh?" you laugh with him.
"6'4"? you think i am six foot 4?" you stepped back, trailing your eyes along his body. he sure seemed six foot four. it was honestly just a shot in the dark. all you knew for certain was he was much taller than you. aaron shook his head. "I am six two."
"hotchy, you're the first man i have ever known to correct someone when they've overestimated their height." aaron turned you so that you were the one against the counter. he rested both hands on the outside of you, doing a much better job at caging you in than you did to him. "hmmm," you murmured. "this is what i was going for."
you brought your hands up to his neck, burying your fingers in his hair. "now, i want you to profile me." rising on tiptoes, you kissed a spot on his neck that you could reach. he leaned down, making it easier for you to assault his neck in your kisses.
"well, for starters, you love to rile me up." he took your neck in his hands and tilted your head back, stopping the kisses and forcing you to look at him. "you love knowing that you get under my skin. and you love being the only one who can."
"yeah, why is that, hotchner?"
"i think i made that perfectly clear on the dance floor, yeah?" his low voice reverberated through your body. the way his body felt moving against yours will forever be etched in your memory. "i'm not done with my profile, by the way."
"go on then," you said, dropping a hand to his bicep. you felt him flex under your hold. you quirked a brow at him, and he answered with a smirk. "god, you're so arrogant."
"and you love it," he said into your neck. "you also love that i am older than you. is it daddy issues?"
"i'm a grown woman, aaron, with a perfectly good relationship with my father," you narrowed your eyes at him. he shrugged under your grip. “well the unit chief doesn’t get it right all the time.”
“you’re right about one thing, i definitely do not care about your age. what i care about is we’ve spent the past 30 minutes driving one another insane and you haven’t made one move to kiss me.” it was out there. you laid it out on a silver platter. the end of this little cat and mouse game.
“you want me to kiss you?” he asked, feigning innocence. he lowered his lips until they were a breath away from yours. “i promise you there’s no going back from this. once we cross this line, it’s done.”
you moved your fingers through his hair. his eyes fell closed as he relished in the feeling. when he opened his eyes, you swear you couldn’t tell where is pupil ended and his iris began. the want in them was almost tangible.
“fuck it,” he said, pulling your mouth the rest of the way to his. kissing aaron hotchner was far better than you could have imagined. he knew exactly what he was doing. he’s must’ve kissed a lot of women to get this good.
he was right. there was absolutely no going back from this. you didn’t do drugs, but you suddenly understood first hand what it felt like to be addicted. kissing aaron was exactly that, addictive.
without breaking the kiss, he lifted you up to the counter and stepped between your legs. your knees immediately fell open to let him get as close as he could. this angle made it much easier to kiss him. his tongue ran along your bottom lip, begging for entrance. you granted it. he was devouring you in the most delicious way.
you don’t know how you ever lived without this man’s kiss. aaron groaned against your mouth as you rolled your hips against him. “i’m not fucking you in the bar bathroom.”
“but you want to,” you said into his ear. you felt the shiver that went through him. oh, he certainly wanted to.
“but i’m not.” he pulled back, but you went after him, placing a chaste kiss on his lips. a rare, real smile stretched his face.
“then, take,” kiss. “me” kiss. “home.” kiss. “aaron.”
at the mention of his name, he pulled you mouth back to his. “say it again.”
“aaron,” you breathed, arching your body into his. your hands slid beneath his suit jacket.
“you do know that’s the first time you’ve ever said my first name.”
you nodded against his chest. “i’ve been saving it for the moment you came to your senses and acted on whatever this was between us.”
a knock on the bathroom door had aaron completely removing himself from your space. “hey, uh, guys? did you want us to close your tabs? the bar is closing.” derek’s voice called. “god, this is embarrassing,” you heard him mumble.
you brought your hand to your mouth, trying to keep your giggles at bay. aaron looked back at you with another smile. “be right there, morgan!” aaron called.
he gave you one more kiss, before leading you from the bathroom.
a/n: i’m completely procrastinating setting up my new classroom. my procrastination is your gain. 🤷🏼♀️
