This Shiseido Spotscover Foundation has been a popular award winner in Japan. There were talks online about a cheaper dupe: the Aritaum All Day Spots Cover Concealer. I purchased the cheaper alternative years ago because who doesn't love dupes? I finally got around to trying the Shiseido foundation recently and I hate whoever spread the lie that Aritaum's concealer was a dupe. The Aritaum concealer did not last long on the skin and was not as pigmented. I could have had a foundation that actually doesn't build up on my glasses and these liars dissuaded me from it. Back then, the shiseido foundation name was rarely mentioned. Both products have a lot of product and the lines have horrible shade ranges, but I've been able to use mixers with shiseido's foundation without altering the wear too much.

The price difference is not astronomically different and ranges depending on where you purchase from. I purchased the concealer for about 10 USD and the foundation for 17 USD. However, Aritaum discontinued the concealer and has a newer version, not that I'm going to try it, and Shiseido's foundation is still available for sale.

Almost every highlight has visible glitter in the sunlight.

It wouldnt be bad IF I WANTED TO LOOK LIKE EDWARD CULLEN.

I recently tried laura mercier's matte radiance in highlight 01 but it has fine glitter (plus something mattifying). I just dont know how I can make it work. I should just stick to what I normally use, mineral sunscreen. But I still have products I want to try.

Shiseidi Maquullage Snow Beauty Powder 2017 Review

This years case is more oval and not a perfect circle. I’m fairly disappointed by this since having a perfect circle usually adds to the aesthetic geometry. On a design with so many geometric shapes, you’d think they’d keep the circle. Now, it seems like the company is trying to save on costs by cutting out a little bit of plastic. I don’t care if the item is easier to hold in the hand, because I don’t even use the item. Its too bulky to take travelling for touch ups. I’m mostly upset because it doesn’t fit very well into my collection. I can’t return it because its shipped overseas through a third party. Since its not a circle anymore, its not perfect, and not worth having. I wouldnt have placed my order if I had known or been able to see the oval shape.

Wet n wild photofocus foundation Beige bronze / medium tan Good: photographs well, easy to blend, not overly dewy, spatula Bad: promotes oil production, feels heavy, transfers, builds up on glasses, uses a lot of product to build up to full coverage It doesn't feel heavy at first application, but since it makes my skin produce oil, it feels heavy as the day goes by. I like the spatula because I can control the amount that I use. Honestly, anything is better than pouring it out. I dont recommend this and I wont be using it unless I know I will be photographed. It is a pretty good color match and it oxides the tiniest bit.

Tatcha luminous overnight memory serum concentrate 3/5 Good: self levelling novelty, pretty packaging Bad: slightly heavy feeling, takes a while to absorb, leaves a shinier finish, using a utensil to pierce and use product It moisturized, but it looked and felt like it was too much. I don't have many anti aging concerns and I didn't see any improvement in my skin. I suppose it was supposed to leave the shinier skin finish because it of the luminous part of the product name, but that's so not for me. Tatcha supple moisture rich silk cream 5/5 Good: moisturizing, easy to spread, sinks in quickly, lemon fresh scent Bad: price Love it! It smells like lemon, like belif aqua bomb but not as overwhelming. It realiably moisturize my skin. I actually think its more moisturizing than belif aqua bomb. I use this as the last moisture layer, right before sunscreen.

Aritaum pore master sebum control primer 5/5 Good: makes pores look smaller, smoothes out skin, makes makeup last longer, cheap price Bad: can be drying The area around the mole or freckle has the product blended out. The area looks matte and smoother but still has fine lines and looks like real skin. I love using this primer because it helps me use less foundation. Love this stuff. It works better than benefit porefessional. I got this because Morgan from thebeautybreakdown recommended it. The porefessional has more slip and just doesn't fill in my pores as well as other primers that don't even claim to fill in pores.

I hate hot towels on airplanes because they make me break out quickly. The same goes for micellar water.

I still use micellar water but I have to go over the face again with toner.

2sol centella 100 power ampoule 4/5 Good: works, light blocking, packaging Bad: syrupy smell, toner type packaging doesn't make sense I havent used this for an extended period of time so I can't say yet how this compares to cosrx centella blemish ampoule. This will be updated later. I got this because it was cheaper and contained twice more product than the product from cosrx. It is really runny, like liquid, and is brown. I dont know if either product from the companies are sensitive to light. I don't know if light actually affects the performance of the product. This seems more like an extract than an essence or even an ampoule. However, my understanding is that it is a 100% concentration or formula. The packing has a larger hole for controlling liquid, so it doesn't actually control much. I had to transfer the product to a spray bottle. I feel like I use a lot for one application, but I'm not sure yet. So I don't have a definitive opinion about this product but I just wanted to let others know what the consistency was like so they weren't as surprised as me.

Tatcha Indigo Triple Soothing Recovery Cream 5/5 Good: works as intended Bad: can be too rich, can clog pores Best for sensitive skin. Helps speed up healing process. Super expensive but can be found for not quite as expensive. I have to using this sparingly because it can cause some blackheads. I'm okay as long as I don't use too much. I use about half of a pea for my whole face on areas on concerns. This is what I use on top of the cosrx centella blemish cream. This is also my winter cream.

Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream 5/5 Good: works as intended Bad: dries out skin Would not recommend as a moisturizer. I've let it dry for about one minute before adding a richer moisturizer to keep my skin from drying out too much. The tea tree oil helps keep pathogens from growing. The sunscreen in this helps keep my pimples from darkening after healing. Highly recommended. Its cheaper than the ampoule and lasts longer too. A little bit goes a long way.

I will never buy cushion foundations again

1. Compacts are bulky 2. Sponges or puffs are not reusable 3. They actually aren't sanitary. My puffs grow mold. 4. I can't find my shade match. I'm not even that dark. 5. They don't provide much coverage. 6. They don't sit on the skin well 90% of the time. I make exceptions for collectible mini cushions. They're convenient for carrying around and they're cute. The only one I have so far is the tonymoly x Pokemon collaboration but I'm hoping they'll put out more in the future.

I was looking for a dupe of the Illamasqua blush which is a blue toned pale pink. I prefer light colored blushes and use a light hand with them. None of these are dupes for the color but my favorites so far are the A'pieu and Laduree. A'pieu is more matte than I'd like and a bit chalky. Laduree is super easy to use but not quite pale enough. Innisfree looks white on the skin and should only be used as a brightener. It might yeild some color on super pale skin.
