EDIT: A big change of plans. This character is now called Agathe. She is still the oldest of Psyche's two sisters. She is also still selfish, spoiled, and vain.
I have several little AU ideas floating around in my head, some of them are based on Troy. Inspired by movies, shows, video games, and books. One of the common themes is me sparing the life of Corythus, the only confirmed child of Paris. His mother is Oenone, an oread who lived on Mount Ida where Paris grew up after being abandoned as a baby due to a prophecy given around the time of his birth. She and Paris had fallen in love and were married.
In one story, Oenone sends Corythus to guide the Greeks to Troy. In another story, Corythus goes to visit his father and is accidentally killed by Paris who didn't recognize him (but quickly realizes his error and gives his son the proper burial fitting for a royal child).
I feel like the death of Corythus is the final straw for Oenone. She might forgive Paris for leaving her behind to return to the city, she might possibly forgive him for running off with Helen (because Aphrodite had a hand in it and most goddesses out rank a nymph). But Paris killing their own son? The son he had abandoned all these years? I feel that would be too much for Oenone. So when Paris is brought before her, she coldly refuses to help him.
But then Oenone apparently has a change of heart and jumps into the pyre. Maybe part of her still loved Paris despite all that he had done to her. Maybe she comes to regret her unwillingness to help, only to be devastated when she learns it is now too late.
In one AU I have, Oenone approaches Menelaus and offers herself up to him as a concubine in exchange for her son having a good life. Paris has stolen Menelaus's wife, so why should he not have Paris's wife and son? A fair trade it sounds like.
But that isn't this storyline.
Besides the fact that she did still love Paris despite everything, and she regretted letting him die in agony, Oenone has yet another reason for jumping into the flames.
By giving up her life, Oenone allows Corythus to be brought back from the realm of the dead.
Corythus is the grandson of Priam and Hecuba, thus he is a heir to the throne of Troy. After this point, however, Troy has fallen. But there are survivors who gradually come together to make a new city (New Troy). It will never be as grand as it once was, but these people make a new life for themselves.
Corythus's wife, Xanthe, is a character from the book "Troy" by Adèle Geras. Xanthe has been my favorite character ever since I first read the book way back in High School. She deserves better. And given how Aphrodite helped ruin her love life, I think it is fitting that one of her daughters will turn Aphrodite's loyal servant (and son) against her. Not really against her, but Eros does defy his mother a number of times because of Psyche.
Everything about this design remains the same. She is inspired by a look seen on several different NPCs in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Her skin is called Saffron. Her eyes are olive green, which actually pulls yellow and gold tones (which was quite surprising). She has red hair from her mom, but it is the golden-brown (orangish) color of bracken. Which is ferns that have dried up and died. Kind of was inspired by a folk song that mentions "myrtle green and bracken brown". Myrtle is a plant associated with Aphrodite. Was planning to include it, but kind of didn't reach that point. I just felt these colors were better.
Her hair style and earrings were inspired by a look seen on a NPC from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I apologize for not knowing what this style is called, but it was the reason I decided to update the picture into what you see now.
Her outfit is interesting because it was meant to be one thing, but ended up getting changed to something else. It is now inspired the dress worn by Leda here.
The colors are unexpected. Not gonna lie. I didn't want to use red or yellow because that is the colors I used for Psyche. But I felt the other colors I had in mind just didn't feel right. They were nice, but didn't feel...I dunno. They just didn't seem to fully fit.
So I decided to try some other colors before being reminded of my picture of Phaedra (based on an actual mosaic of her). I decided to take the dark red and dark yellow from there and apply it to the outfit...and holy cow! It worked!
Yes, I had already used red with gold trim for Psyche. I will actually post her image down below to see the oldest sister and younger sister together.
And here is the middle sister, Opheleia.
I now have an idea that all three Trojan princesses, plus their father, wear red to symbolize all the blood that was shed during the Trojan War. All the lives lost partially because of Paris, who is Corythus's father. Each sister just wears a different shade of red.
All three sisters have the same make-up look, which I will admit draws a bit from Egypt. But there is signs that Egypt and Greece were doing business. And Menelaus and Helen were even welcomed by the Pharaoh during their return from Troy. malachite green eye shadows, lips of red ochre, and red henna for their fingernails and toe nails.
Now for the final part of this update.
Agathe is married to a Trojan Prince named Dios. They have a single son together named Nikolaos. When Dios passes away, Nikolaos becomes King of New Troy.
