Be content & happy in life 💜
We’ve all had that feeling before, that feeling of knowing that you have everything to be grateful and thankful for: whether it be a great significant other, a loving family, great circle of friends, a good job, beautiful home, and a healthy working body. Still, you keep having this nagging feeling that what you have just isn’t enough. Sure, you can be happier by making some life changes, but one thing I have learnt and realised is that the easiest way to be content and happy with myself, my life, is to just adjust my perspective and daily actions, by doing this you are more likely to appreciate what you have.
Instead of being stuck in the past, holding unnecessary grudges, and having negative thoughts, just enjoy and embrace the present moment and try not to obsess over what the future will look like. Yes, thinking of the past helps us to learn from the mistakes that were made, and yes, thinking of the future can help you to set goals, but if you want to be truly happy, then take time to enjoy exactly what you’re doing right now. Stop worrying and focus on what the day will bring you instead of thinking about what happened yesterday, or what you’ll be able to change about tomorrow.
Be grateful for what you have, instead of focusing on all the things you don’t have or all of the things you want. Think about how lucky you are compared to most people out there, like people starving in the most poorest countries in the world, they have nothing, and people living in the most corrupt countries in the world. Your life may not be perfect in the moment, but surely there are some things that you can be very grateful for, whether it’s your loving family, your beautiful kids, your better half, supportive parents, healthy stable marriage, the awesome city you live in, the church you attend, or that great job you have. Remind yourself every single day to be grateful for these things you do have.
Spend more time to yourself and also take the time to thank those who are always there for you. Spend more time in nature, this will make you feel more grateful for the beauty all around you.
Appreciate the little things
Be thankful for the strength you are blessed with to wake up everyday and get out of bed in the mornings. Be thankful for the air you breathe, the food and clean water that nourishes you, the roof over your head, the clothes on your back, and the beautiful sunshine and the beautiful stars in the sky at night. Every little detail in your life counts. Focus on those little things and be thankful that you are still alive.
A lot of people aren’t content with their lives because they don’t take the time to sit back and consider everything that’s going on. You could do this by writing in a journal, posting in your blog, praying and talking to God, going for walks to decompress, or just by sitting and listening to music to soothe your soul. Making a habit of reflecting will help you think rationally when problems arise and keep you from being blind-sided by problems that are lurking in your life.
Don’t compare yourself to others
This is another way that people can keep themselves from being truly happy with their lives. Stop thinking about how flash your neighbor’s house is, how flash your cousin’s car is, or how great your friend’s job is. There will always be someone richer, healthier, prettier, more handsome, happier, but don’t let those things hold you back from being happy, just don’t look at what they have and start looking at what you have and worry about your own life. You’ll only be doing yourself a favor by dropping comparing completely.
Feel true compassion for others
Part of being happy means building connections with other people. Healthy and good connections that is. Recognizing that other people are also sufferring and have their own problems.
Happiness cannot determine how much money you earn, or even with material things in life. It is a choice to be happy, despite what life may bring. Be happy with who you are, love yourself and respect yourself. Wake up every morning and remind yourself that today you are going to choose joy and happiness.
Spend time doing the things you love and you’ll feel content with your life. Make it a habit. Be happy with what you have, stop insisting on having the best. Take time to connect with people, whether it’s a family member, a good friend, your significant other, your mum or dad. Stop making excuses, no one is too busy to have some sort of social life. Take time to have meaningful conversations with your partner/spouse and don’t take them for granted.
Make changes if necessary
Think about the things in your life that are blocking you from moving forward and being truly happy. Things that are in the way of your happiness. It could be your job, a terrible relationship that you are in, the people you hang out with, broken friendships, or someone who you were once close to or never really got along with, if that is the case then it may be time to cut ties. It may be your body, your weight, if it is then it may be time to invest in a healthier routine for yourself.
Help others, love yourself, try new things, enjoy failures, learn from past mistakes, forgive others and surround yourself with people who will lift you up, not people who will say negative things to you and try and bring you down just to make themselves feel better. Surround yourself with those who you love and who love you back. Surround yourself with people who are good influences and who are happy too and who don’t compete with others. People who will inspire you and challenge you are always the best people to be around, people who will make you better and motivate you. If you let go of all the wrong people in your life, you will be content and happy, and eventually the right people will show up.
I am very happy, content, grateful, thankful and blessed ❤️
