Jack was never truly one to stick around in one place for too long. Not that he would ever truly tell anybody the reasons behind his constant moving, but when you had a family curse of lycanthropy that you just couldn’t escape no matter how many witches you tried to find to reverse the curse, there was just no overcoming the sins of his ancestors who’d cursed their family tree for generations to come. When Jack was last in New York, he made the mistake of getting just a little bit too close with one of the students of the campus after she showed him empathy and even gave him a temporary place to stay while he operated on the campus of ESU as a janitor. Because quite frankly, who actually needed a resume to clean up the crap of college students when you had someone like Jack who gladly volunteered to do it of his own volition? But when he got literally too close to Anya, he dipped out, citing that he needed to go find his niece out in California and look out for her. It was a half-baked truth, but enough that Jack could slip out of NYC without any attachments.

Little did he know, fate had other plans in store for this Werewolf By Night. Taking the leaf blower off of his back and setting it next to the bench, Jack slipped onto said bench and wiped the sweat from his forehead after a hard day’s work. The sun was beginning to set after a long autumn day, and thankfully it wasn’t a full moon that was on the way. Otherwise, he’d be in some serious trouble. But as he glanced over slowly to his right after catching a familiar face out of the corner of his eye, Jack let out a pent up sigh he hadn’t even realized had been resting inside of his chest. “I thought you were going to stay in New York and promise not to follow me here, Anastasia.” Maybe the connection they formed was stronger than he ever could have imagined. “What are you doing all the way on the other coast?”

Anya honestly didn’t know if she would ever see Russel again. She didn’t have any expectations after they met in that shower room years ago. No regrets of where that night took them after and so suddenly. She was the adventurous type and always counted on her instinct to tell her whether or not someone was good for her. Russell had all the right aura surrounding him. Dangerous, but not to her personally. Passionate and there for just when she had been feeling lonely. Needing someone to fill that void, even it was just for the night, she never expected to be thinking about him as much as she did-- yet here she was. 

The decision to move to the west coast was impulsive. She had heard so many things about California that made her curious. Anya loved seeing the world and exploring all the depths of it hidden from her. Even with the media allegedly overhyping The Golden State--she always wanted to see things for herself before making any judgements of her own. Walking down the park path, the leaves were changing colors again, simmering down from their fall shade. The former Duchess hadn’t noticed the noise from the leaf blower going until it stopped and her world did as well when Russell sat on the bench she stopped at. A small smile, her cheeks slightly turning rosy, she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. “I was...but something brought me out here..” she didn’t want to seem desperate, nor did she know that she would run into Russell. “I know I made that promise...but you saying you’re in Cali without specifics on the city kind of put me in a weird spot.”
