Every small inch of progress is progress, little bits of progress add up to big amounts of progress, the time passes anyway even if it may not seem like it in the moment, taking breaks to drink water and stretch is so vital, spaced repetition is king, we are privileged to have access to so much knowledge where others are not, learning keeps our brain healthy and happy, hitting the books is better than scrolling through your phone all day, studying is challenging and therefore fulfilling in the long run, studying trains your brain against instant gratification, every time we think a task takes too long we are only catastrophizing the tiniest blip in time, working hard now means getting to rest later, you’re more capable than u think

still working on my nervous system notes! there’s a lot to cover but i’m sure that i’ll get it before finals. i haven’t worked on them yet today but i plan on it after i get out of the shower. i went to a craft fair today with my aunt in my place to shop local and small businesses. they’re actually shutting down the building because the owner sold it (grrrr) and it makes me sad to see such an important place for indie creatives go. i did see a lot of cute cat themed items; i’m becoming more of a crazy cat lady by the minute!

i also found a pen that doesn’t smudge when i highlight over it #blessed

hello!! aah it was really great thank you for asking :) i've met so many wonderful people and done so much it really doesn't feel like it's been only 2 months. i've had a great time and depression got to me in the last couple of weeks but im hoping that the holidays will give me a chance to catch up on everything and reset 🙂‍↕️

I'm crawling up the walls. Passed one more final this week, but we have The clinical ultimate final on the next (in aprox 3 days), it's an oral exam, meaning having a one on one with one of our professors about two years worth of content. And the list of which doctor will be asign to us is yet to be released! Usually by yesterday people had access to it so we could better prepare, but admin related messes and we still don't have it. Trying to keep studying, though

2-4.12.2024 | opthalmology 👁️ | life’s beeen so far so good!

we are at an eye specialty hospital. clinics are super long here. the patients never seem to stop entering. on the plus side, the hospital is an ancient hospital with tall trees and beautiful orchards among the old dutch buildings. there was a study room meant for us too with a pantry attached to it and free tea and coffee.

we also get to meet young doctors from a nearby university and instanly hit it off with them

there are many unique cases here and im learning so much

my supervisor is very kind and loves to teach us. im very grateful

9 - 10 November

Struggled through my to-do list this weekend, but I got some stuff done! Managed to get up early so I could get to the dorm laundry room before other people, and had a nice brunch on Sunday. I spent 2h30 straight on a French writing assignment (according to my pomodoro focus tracker) and then passed out in the evening.

posting small joys today because i'm feeling a bit rubbish and miserable so! i got a free medical dictionary today :) i worked out a physics problem for my brother despite not having done physics in 2 years and i walked a lot! lots of physical exercise. good stuff. well done me

prepared for a presentation on using postcolonial theory as one of the theoretical frameworks for my thesis and presented it. it went really well but I have so much work to do in order to narrow down the scope of my project

attended a conference and met some cool people

started working on my data management plan

worked on 2 essays, 1 blogpost

did some creative journalling

this week will be as chaotic because I'm travelling back home, which will mean disrupting whatever routine I had established. but at least, my routine at home is familiar.

finals countdown: 4 days

today was the last day of covering new material before finals! i've finished all of my "normal" homework for the term, so now it's just a few more days of intense studying and then i'm done. in some ways this is my favorite part of the term - i get to study in my own way, on my own schedule, and then show off all the things i've learned at the end of it.

the semester starts in one month but that doesn't mean i can resist taking a peak at the material 👀 these books are big and heavy and full of math and honestly it's a bit intimidating since i haven't done propper math since high school, so it's good i have a whole month to get reacquainted 😳 now all I need is a calculator...

tip: don't buy your books brand new unless you have to. there's very likely a facebook group for your major at your uni that's made to sell books. splurge on stationary instead!
