As my friend Nina and I were returning from the public dedication of the New York City AIDS Memorial, we ran across some Paparazzi hanging out across her building (as celebrities now live there)… my favorite thing about this series of photographs is the woman walking in front of us. I’ve been remiss in posting so I thought I would reminisce on the Pope’s visit and a Planned Parenthood rally, separate, but perhaps related. As many of you know the Pope was in town for a brief visit as he addressed the UN announcing his support of the global goals… a global proclamation supporting, (among other things), the rights of women and girls and ecological responsibility and innovation. Sadly absent from these dialogues was any mention or breath of LGBTQ civil liberties… (never mind the epidemic of violence targeting this already marginalized and silenced community). Further institutionalized Abrahamic misogyny has been ramp it in the United States as Planned Parenthood has become the target of misogynistic and religious fanatics, performing various egregious acts of propaganda and political jihad. Oh, what a world.

So, I don't know if you heard, but the Pope was in town. Here are some photos of Sister Lotti Da protesting on the Pope's path to the UN, and an 'appearance'/manifestation the night before... In truth, I am shocked and dismayed at the total lack of LGBTQA voice and lack of LGBTQA representation within the Global Goals conversation. There is a global epidemic of violence against LGBTQA people, and this silence equals death.

Facebook says their fake name button is in place to curtail and report abuse. However, this feature is being abused to target already marginalized individuals (trans, youth, queer, indigenous people, abuse and rape survivors, etc.), who, for a myriad of reasons, (most of which are protection and safety–nevermind privacy), have self-identified.
Removing this “fake name” button would be a super easy programming fix with no loss to safety, as there are numerous additional ways to report shady behavior on FB.
People speak to protecting our children, but what about our queer and trans children who are targeted, exposed and bullied by this egregious policy? #QueerKidsMatter
The fact of the matter is that it’s a Corporate, Big Brother, Frat Boy sausage fest at Facebook, where they are hell-bent on mining our personal information for their profit/advertisers.
#Chestnut trees are certainly one of my favorites... so magical, so tragic... these two in prospect park are glorious.
So I’m not a big Easter Parade kind of guy but I do love Ēostre/Ostara; and I’d had a shitty day Saturday ; though my attitude shifted when we colored eggs with silk. Creating decorated eggs with my friend felt like a timless ritual reminding me again of the many layered histories of spring rites. Plus I knew folks who were gonna do the Ēostre Bonnet Parade, loved it; and after 20 years, i figured “what the heck”. So I made a half hazzard bonnet out of our vig pizza box wimple and hoped it’d stay on and together… then threw myself together curbside and in my car, (after Asphalta the parking goddess was kind). It was ambitious, to wrangle a puppy and manifest, especially as my dress was too big (so it was constantly saggy) and my veil had a mind of its own… finally a sexy french man gave me a firm hand and helped safety pin. He did the best he could. So, however sloppy, our efforts seemed to be appreciated as we were swarmed once we hit the avenue. I most loved interactions with kids, (and wonder how my ACT-UP buttons will be explained?). We ran into Guard/Saint Justice Prevails who help protect the pup when the crowd got unruly, and distracted them to allow for our escape. On a darker note, hippity-hoppity made our escape, i lost my pirate boots to an easter bunny toe blow out, (but they had some miles on them) and it was a fun day. Shiner was astounding, and is exhausted. Such a good grrl. So patient. One last highlight: on the way home, the toll lady for the battery tunnle asked if I was going to Coney Island… then after a brief chat (there was no one behind me), she said she hopes she sees me again. Sweet. ♡♡♡
