Every single home game this year for the Thorns has had no less than an attendance of 15,581 since the home opener vs Chicago Red Stars on June 2nd in the newly renovated Providence Park.
Since then they’ve averaged an attendance of 20,072 per game in 8 home games as of August 17th - a game that hit their 3rd highest number at 20,895 - bumping the Thorns to the Top 10 most attended teams in North America. All in addition to averaging 18,267 at the 4 home games that happened during the WWC while they were without their USWNT stars.
On July 24th, they welcomed home their World Cup Champs by breaking the single-game attendance record at their first midweek home game vs the Houston Dash with 22,329 people in the stands... on a Wednesday.
These back-to-back home games came after a first half of the season that saw a long stretch of away games because of the renovation and expansion of Providence Park that addressed the wild demand of a 4 thousand waiting list for the Thorns’ male counterpart, the Timbers, and to accommodate 25,218 people. On August 11th, the Portland Thorns registered a sell out at the game vs the NC Courage, once again breaking the aforementioned record previously set on July 24th vs the Dash.
Wild numbers for a Women’s team, but it’s proof that it’s possible.

I know these aren’t official but let’s discuss how clean the girls would look, rolling into the OGs with some slick black jerseys 😤

USWNT appreciation: A Series - Frat Dad & Frat Dad Jr
I will stop raging about my girls WHEN I'M DEAD
Imagine not loving the absolute national treasures that are Kelley "Frat Daddy and Veritable Bulldozer" O'Hara and Emily "Frat Daddy Jr and Dancer extraordinaire" Sonnett!?
I MEAN C'MON.
The legacy of the frat lesbian in the USWNT will never die. KO's been training Sonny since she got here and I LIVE FOR IT.
She's also that beautiful defense we need and she's gonna be an absolute fucking POWER HOUSE for USWNT. Just you wait.
And THAT'S. The MOTHERFUCKING tea.
Also they're both really soft bros and I love them. That's it.
THANKS FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK
